AMREF in Kenya seeks to recruit two (2) Water and Sanitation Technicians to be based in Kitui and Loitokitok districts respectively in its AMREF Italy funded project.

The project deals with improving access to safe water and sanitation for communities in Eastern and Rift Valley Provinces.

With the aim of improving the livelihoods of those communities.

Key Areas of Responsibilities

Reporting to the Project Manager, the incumbents shall be responsible for:-
• Mobilizing and sensitizing communities to participate in the project activities
• Collecting and compiling appropriate data for the project
• Organizing and carrying out health education activities including training
• Networking and collaborating with other partners
• Planning and training local artisans and water committees on wells development, installing hand pumps and maintenance
• Providing technical support to the communities during development of shallow wells, gravity water schemes and VIP latrines and carryout school health activities
• Participating in the prospects of new water sources
• Monitoring water quality and record keeping
• Participating in project Monitoring & Evaluation
• Preparing various project reports

Qualifications and Competencies

The ideal candidate will have:-
• Diploma in Water Engineering or Public Health
• Three (3) years working experience in community based water and sanitation activities
• Experiences in construction of shallow wells, boreholes, gravity water systems and construction of VIP latrines and rain water harvesting tanks
• Good communication and community mobilization skills
• Should have skills in motorcycle riding with a valid licence will be an added advantage
• Good ICT skills
• The candidate should have high level of honesty and integrity. Ability to work under minimal supervision and a team player
