Job Description

Job Title: Assistant Manager/System Administration

Reporting to: Manager/Business Systems
Location: Headquarters
Grade: MG5
Department: Information Communication Technology
Basic Salary: Kshs. 42,930 x 1000-45,930 x 1025-54,130

Duties and Responsibilities
• The Assistant Manager/Systems Administration will provide the day to day administration of the Operating Systems, Databases, Internet and Intranet, Messaging, Business Applications and other System tools.
• Lead in the Installation, Configuration, Management and Maintenance of Linux and Windows Operating Systems.
• Lead the Installation, Configuration, Management and Maintenance of E-mail and other server applications and services.
• Developing of Operating System/Database backup and recovery procedures.
• Resolving of Operating System, Database, Messaging, Applications and Internet technical problems on the PCK server platforms.
• Performing Operating System/Database performance tuning, monitoring, and backup and recovery, user account maintenance and configuration.
• Develop and operate a cost-effective Operating System/Database environment.
• Provide documentation of processes for Operating System/Database technical environments.

Qualifications and Skills:
• Must have a Bachelors degree from a recognized University and possess other relevant systems administration training and qualifications.
• Certification in MSCE, MCSA, ORACLE, LINUX administration or MCDBA will be an added advantage.
• Must have 5+ years supporting a large corporate UNIX and Windows server environment, which must include user administration, security procedures, and shell scripting.
• Must be capable of implementing and supporting high availability server solutions.
• Must be able to use performance tools and diagnostic tools troubleshoot system problems.
• Must be familiar with enterprise disk and backup technologies and be familiar with current Data Warehouse technology and tools.
• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Job Title: Systems Administrator/Database Administrator
Reporting to: Assistant Manager System Analysis & Change Management
Location: Headquarters
Grade: MG6
Department: Information Communication Technology
Basic Salary: Kshs. 30,500 x 950 - 33,350 x 995 - 40,315

Duties and Responsibilities
• The systems administrator/database administrator will provide the day to day administration of the Operating Systems, Databases, E-mail, Internet and Intranet, Messaging, Business Applications and other System tools.
• Participate in disaster recovery and business continuity plans of the organization including developing, maintaining and monitoring procedures for all server backups.
• Perform the Installation, Configuration, Management and Maintenance of Server Linux and Windows Operating Systems.
• Perform the Installation, Configuration, Management and Maintenance of E-mail and other server applications and services.
• Monitoring and evaluating user access levels and security of organization databases.
• Enhancement of database performance through management of requisite parameters to provide fast responses to queries by users.
• Carry out servers administration for 24/7 data availability of key systems.
• Assist in the selection, installation, qualification, testing and validation of enterprise database systems and applications.
• Work closely with internal and external developers to develop and maintain custom and third-party database applications.
• Shall be responsible for documenting all database installations and configurations.
• Ensure adherence to current legislation governing "data e.g. Data Protection Act.
• Planning, designing, documentation and implementation of various systems, hardware and software.
• Monitoring, planning and coordinating the distribution of client/server software and service packs.
• Performing on-site and remote technical support.
• Formulating, implementing and managing integrated ICT strategies, policies and procedures within the organization.

Qualifications and Skills

• Must have a Diploma in IT and possess other relevant systems administration training and qualifications.
• Possession of a university degree will be an added advantage.
• College degree in a relevant technical filed and/or relevant professional certification e.g. MCSA, Oracle DBA, and MSDBA certified will be an added advantage.
• Must have 3 years of systems/database administration and/or database development.
• Must have working knowledge of UNIX/Linux shell scripting, SCO Unix and Linux server operating systems.
• Experience with SQL server and/or Oracle database configurations, tuning, backup and recovery.
• Must be capable of implementing and supporting high availability server solutions.
• Must have strong trouble shooting , decision making and problem solving skills.
• Solid knowledge of LAN/WAN configuration with experience in routers, switches, internet firewalls, intranet and wireless technology.

Job Title: Software Developer

Reporting to: Assistant Manager/ Systems analysis and development

Duties and Responsibilities
• Writing and coding individual programs from specific requirements
• Interpret written business requirements and technical specification documents.
• Perform maintenance programming and correction of identified defects.
• Develop and add new functionality to existing
• Applications to support requirements of new business initiatives.
• Write codes for Database access and modifications including stored procedures, triggers, database tables, and indexes.
• Performing high-level program debugging and working closely with the systems analysts and users.
• Providing "go live support" to support new development efforts during implementations.
• Create, document, and implement unit test plans, scripts, and test harnesses.
Qualifications and Skills:
• Must have a Bachelors degree from a recognized University and possess other relevant professional training and qualifications.
• Possession of relevant Certification e.g. Microsoft MCTS, MCITP or Oracle OCA, OCP will be an added advantage.
• Must have a least 3+ years demonstrable software development and database design experience.

• Applications in either Microsoft .Net, Delphi 7, Java, C# and ASP in a Client/Server environment.
• Knowledge of database architecture and design techniques.
• Experience in user support, production support, implementation procedures and problem resolution.
