National Commission on Gender and Development (NCGD) Jobs in Kenya

The National Commission on Gender and Development (NCGD) was established by an Act of Parliament in December, 2003 to coordinate, implement and facilitate gender mainstreaming in national development and to advise the Government on all aspects thereof.

In order to strengthen the capacity of the Commission, we are seeking to recruit suitably qualified and highly committed individuals to fill the following positions within the Commission.

1. Policy and Programmes Manager

Reporting to the Director of the Commission, Policy and Programmes Manager will be responsible for designing, developing, reviewing and ensuring effective implementation of Commission Programmes

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership in the development of Programme activities, Workplan, Strategic Plan and Performance Contracting
  • Prepare budget proposals for the implementation of annual workplan;
  • Managing and supervising Programme Officers;
  • Monitoring and Evaluation of implementation of Programmes
  • Develop resource mobilization strategies and proposals for sourcing funds;
  • Establish strategic linkages with Development Partners and other stakeholders;
  • Analysis of National Budget for Gender Responsiveness;
  • Prepare quarterly and annual programme reports and Conduct and coordinate research activities on gender issues.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Economics and Masters degree in Gender and Development or any other relevant field from a recognized University;
  • A minimum of 5 years' working experience in a senior management position in the field of gender, human rights and development;
  • Demonstrate a thorough and comprehensive understanding of gender issues and knowledge of project design and development and
  • Excellent communication skills and computer literacy.

2. Public Relations Officer

Reporting to the Director of the Commission, Public Relations Officer will be responsible for planning and implementation of Public Relations and Communication activities of the Commission.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensuring positive visibility of the Commission through branding and other publicity strategies;
  • Planning and implementation of media and communication activities;
  • Editing materials for publications and press statements
  • Organization of media and other campaign events;
  • Editing and production of Commission's magazines, publications and IEC materials and
  • Administration, maintenance and updating of the website of the Commission.

Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in Public Relations Management or any other relevant field;
  • A minimum of 3 years working experience in Public Relations Department;
  • Demonstrate a thorough and comprehensive understanding of Public Relations issues;
  • Team player with hands on experience in Public Relations management;
  • Excellent editorial skills and
  • Excellent communication skills and computer literacy

3. Programme Officer

Reporting to the Policy and Programmes Manager, the Programme Officer will be responsible for the preparation and implementation of workplans in order to achieve the mission of the Commission.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare and implement workplans Prepare proposals for sourcing funds;
  • Prepare budget proposals for the implementation of annual workplans;
  • Facilitate and establish strategic linkages with development partners and stakeholders;
  • Prepare quarterly and annual reports;
  • Organize workshops, conferences and seminars; and
  • Monitor and evaluate the implementation of Commission programmes.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Economics and a Masters Degree in Gender and Development or any other relevant field from a recognized University;
  • A minimum of 3 years working experience in a senior management position in the field of gender, human rights, development and governance;
  • Demonstrate a thorough and comprehensive understanding of gender issues and knowledge of project design and development
  • Knowledge of Gender Responsive Budgeting (GRB)
  • Excellent communication skills and
  • Must be computer literate.
