CARE International and its partners work with vulnerable communities to address the underlying causes of poverty and promote peace and development, through its strategic goal to reduce poverty by empowering women, enhancing access to resources and services, and improving governance.CARE’s Adaptation Learning Programme (ALP) for Africa is designed to develop, implement and disseminate models for communitybased adaptation to climate change.

The programme will be implemented in Ghana, Niger, Mozambique, and Kenya.In each country, community-based adaptation demonstration projects will be implemented in vulnerable communities in partnership with local civil society and government institutions. The experience gained will be used to influence adaptation policies and programmes at national, regional and international levels through targeted advocacy.

The project will also seek to promote replication and scaling up of successful CBA models by governmental and non-governmental institutions engaged in planning and implementing adaptation initiatives.We are looking for a suitable candidate to fill the position of Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) Advisor

Job Summary

Reporting to the ALP Programme Coordinator, the M&E Advisor will have the following key responsibilities:

· Develop and implement coherent monitoring & evaluation systems at programme level
· Compile and analyze data to generate programme-level information for donor reports, as well as for policy- and programme oriented publications
· Provide leadership and capacity development for Information and Knowledge Management

Officers in each of the four countries

· Coordinate evaluation exercises

Required skills and qualifications

· University degree, and preferably an advanced degree, in a relevant discipline such as international/rural development or social science
· At least eight years of relevant working experience, including a minimum of five years leading M&E in complex programmes
· Strong experience in M& E approaches, including participatory and gender-sensitive approaches
· Strong experience with donor reporting ;
· Fluency in spoken and written English, working knowledge of French, Kiswahili and/or Portuguese desirable
· Demonstrated awareness of, and sensitivity to, gender and diversity

The incumbent will be based in Nairobi with frequent travel to Ghana, Mozambique and Niger.
