We are seeking to fill the above post based at National Health Training Institute (NHTI) - Maridi, Southern Sudan.

Stationed in Maridi, Southern Sudan and reporting to the Regional Librarian s/he will provide adequate and essential Resource Centre Services at the Institute including maintenance of the RC equipment and collections.

The incumbent will ensure that materials and collections are relevant, current and accessible to students and staff.

Key responsibilities include:-

  • Managing the planning, technical and budgetary functions of the Resource Centre and information services with assistance from Regional Librarian and the Principal NHTI, Maridi;
  • Preparing reports related to the Resource Centre information services, technology and media services, resources and activities;
  • Providing effective access to RC collections and resources by indexing, cataloguing, and classification of print, audio-visual and electronic resources;
  • Maintaining the organization of RC materials;
  • Providing RC services in response to the information needs of the users;
  • Marketing the Resource Centre to ensure utilization by neighbouring communities such as Maridi County Hospital;
  • Training students on Internet search engines for research purposes; and
  • Maintaining Records management system for the Institute and Projects

Key Qualifications and experience

Diploma in Information studies with a minimum of 2 years experience in a modern fully automated RC, proven working knowledge of database management, experience in preparing content for online libraries, use of Medical Subject Headings (MESH) and be well experienced in access to information from the Internet;
