United States International University (USIU) is a private chartered university with a population of nearly 5,000 students and over 300 employees, located at the Kasarani area in Nairobi, Kenya. It offers both US and Kenyan accredited degrees.
USIU is searching for qualified personnel to fill the following position:Grant Writer
Qualifications
Bachelors or higher degree from an accredited university majoring in Public or Business Administration. Professional qualification in Grant Writing and/or Fundraising is essential
Experience
· A minimum of four (4) years progressive experience in Grant writing and fundraising in a reputable organization.
· Must have superior written, verbal and organizational skills.
· Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work closely with high level staff/faculty and committee.
· Must read, write and speak fluent English.
Core Competencies
· Thorough and detailed understanding of the substantive and administrative elements of Fundraising and grant writing processes.
· Must be able to obtain, analyze and evaluate complex data and information and prepare precise and accurate analysis and written reports and proposals.
· Must be able to initiate external relations and contacts with key funders and donor agencies and assist in the generation of non-tuition revenues to support University programs and projects.
· Must be able to develop and maintain contacts with key staff and faculty including Deans of Schools.
· Perceptive analytical abilities and superior ability in writing and speaking effectively.
· Organizing and leading effective meetings to ascertain pertinent information for grant
Applications with key university staff and private sector organizations.
· Broad knowledge of computer applications, budgeting, accounting and informed control processes are necessary.
