Summary job description

  • The role will play a pivotal role in optimising the utilisation of the Salesforce platform to support and enhance organisational processes. This role is not only technical but also strategic and consultative, requiring strong business acumen to partner effectively with various organisational stakeholders. The successful candidate will identify key processes and drivers within the organisation and leverage Salesforce to address these strategically, ensuring alignment with Blue Ventures’ mission and goals.


Strategic Business Partnering and System Development

  • Collaborate closely with organisational leaders to gain a deep understanding of core processes and business needs.
  • Strategically develop and enhance Salesforce functionalities to align with organisational objectives, improving efficiency and impact.
  • Lead the integration of Salesforce into new and existing business areas, providing innovative solutions for program management, impact monitoring, and other critical functions.
  • System and Process Development and Customisation
  • Collaborate to understand and enhance workflows through Salesforce.
  • Drive the integration of Salesforce in current and new areas such as program management and impact monitoring.
  • Engage with organisational leaders to expand Salesforce utilisation to new processes where applicable.

  • Integrate Salesforce with other technological tools and platforms.
  • Utilise Salesforce’s development environment to create custom interfaces and applications that cater specifically to marine conservation and community engagement.
  • Implement and manage complex data models within Salesforce to align with various funding, project management, and compliance requirements.

Training and Communication

  • Determine training requirements for different user groups within the organisation.
  • Conduct regular training sessions to ensure all users are proficient in using Salesforce.
  • Use organisational platforms to broadcast Salesforce updates, changes, and best practices.

Reporting and Dashboards

  • Identify key reporting needs and develop dashboards that deliver actionable insights.
  • Ensure these tools are accessible and valuable to stakeholders.
  • Effectively communicate the availability and functionality of reports and dashboards organisation-wide.

Administration, Data Integrity and Quality

  • Develop reports to regularly audit and ensure the accuracy of data within Salesforce.
  • Collaborate with team leads to uphold data standards and best practices.
  • Identify and address data quality issues by working with leads in respective teams.
  • Manage Salesforce user accounts, ensuring correct access and roles are configured.
  • Implement and maintain access permissions and security settings to ensure data protection and privacy.
  • Create and manage workflows, custom roll-ups, and process automation to streamline operations.
  • Manage relationships with Salesforce consultants and third-party vendors.

Skills and experience

Essential Skills:

  • Salesforce Proficiency: Advanced administration and development skills in Salesforce.
  • Certifications: Salesforce Certified Administrator is required; Advanced Administrator, Platform Developer I, or App Builder is preferred.
  • Strategic Implementation: Proven ability to integrate Salesforce with organisational strategies and processes.
  • Data Management: Strong skills in data integrity, quality control, and security within Salesforce.
  • Project Management: Experienced in leading Salesforce projects.
  • Excellent project management skills, and ability to design and drive
  • Team player with excellent listening and communication skills
  • Knowledge of data governance and policies standards
  • Fluency in written and spoken English

Desirable Skills:

  • Programming: Knowledge of Apex, Visualforce, and Lightning Components.
  • Integration Tools: Experience with integration platforms like MuleSoft or Informatica.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication skills, with an ability to engage diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Analytical Ability: Competence in problem-solving and analytics to drive data-driven decision making.
  • NGO Experience: Familiarity with the NGO sector and related Salesforce applications, like Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud.
  • Previous international organisation/ NGO experience
  • Knowledge of Python, R, Stata or other statistical programming languages
  • Experience in developing and running technical training, document best practices, processes and policies- Experience of Tableau and/or other data visualisation tools and their integration capabilities
  • Understanding of the challenges of working in across different countries and cultures and interpersonal skills to adapt style to meet those challenges
  • Competency in other languages e.g French, Bahasa Indonesia
