Position Summary
Reporting
to the Director of Medical Services, the Laboratory Manager will assist with
the administration and oversight of all aspects of the Laboratory Department
amongst the following other responsibilities
Main Duties
- Developing and translating
Laboratory policies and procedures into daily operations
- Aligning departmental objectives to
the Hospital Strategic Plan and engaging staff towards achieving the
objectives
- Developing the section’s budget in
liaison with the Director of Medical Services for approval by management
- In liaison with the Director of
Medical Services, initiating procurement of Laboratory equipment and
supplies
- Developing, monitoring, and
maintaining an inventory of Laboratory resources
- Ensuring operations conform to
Quality Management requirements and engaging activities for continuous
quality Improvement
- Monitoring department’s operations
and performance and preparing reports for management
- Liaising with the marketing
department to market laboratory services
- Participating in the education and
training of paramedical and other staff through Continuous Medical
Education programs
- Implementing new programs, tests,
methods, instrumentation, and procedures by investigating alternatives;
Preparing proposals; developing and performing parallel testing; and
monitoring progress
- Maintaining medical laboratory
staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees
- Providing administrative support
for the hospital by acting as manager on call
- Contributing to team effort by
accomplishing related results as needed
- Participating in quality
improvement initiatives within the department and providing reports as
required
- Any other duty assigned from time
to time
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Medical
Laboratory
- 10 years experience as a Medical
Laboratory Technologist & 3 years in a Leadership position
- Computer Proficiency
- Registered with KMLTTB with a valid
practicing license
