Demand and Planning Lead Job in Kenya

Overview

You will be responsible for analyzing market trends, forecasting demand, and coordinating with various departments to optimize inventory levels and ensure timely availability of products/services. You will develop and implement strategic plans to meet supply demand while minimizing costs and maximizing operational efficiency. The demand and planning lead will also establish effective forecast models based on industry trends and demand patterns and subsequently implement solutions to improve demand forecasting accuracy.

You will report to the Demand and Planning Manager.

Key Job Functions

  • Develop effective forecast models based on industry trends and demand patterns.
  • Propose and implement solutions to improve demand forecast accuracy.
  • Develop multiple metrics to validate forecasting accuracy, as per industry standards, and communicate corrective action(s) to ensure timely resolution.
  • Successfully communicate forecast and inventory estimations to management
  • Monitor and report on important changes in sales forecasts, budgets, and business strategies.
  • Support management with risk assessments and mitigation activities
  • Conduct monthly forecast maintenance

  • Address demand-related issues in a timely and effective manner
  • Assist in developing annual budgets and streamlining costs
  • Schedule regular forecast review meetings with management
  • Maintain demand planning processes to improve forecast accuracy.
  • Update forecasts for new products, seasonal products, discounts, and promotions
  • Develop an accurate SKU-level forecast by month through exception-based planning and submission.
  • Identify and analyze sales trends and other demand-influencing variables and incorporate analysis in forecasting, inventory planning, and safety stock processes.

Experience/ Skills & Competencies/ Licences & Certifications/ Education Required

  • A recognized Degree in Statistics/ Economics/ Mathematics/ /Supply Chain Management/Mathematics or equivalent
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a demand planning/forecasting role
  • A solid understanding of inventory management practices and procedures.
  • Strong mathematical and statistical knowledge.
  • The capability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of integrated supply chain systems
  • Must possess business acumen related to vision and purpose, strategic thinking, problem-solving, and creative/innovative mindset.
  • Must be customer and market-driven.
  • Strong Analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel.
