Database Administrator Job in Kenya

Job Responsibilities 

Analyze, interpret and disseminate systems performance data

Assist in the development of document or content classification taxonomies to facilitate information capture, search, and retrieval;

Maintain system documentation

Management of systems security and data backup/recovery;

Monitoring systems performance and troubleshooting issues;

Prepare users by conducting training; providing information; resolving problems.

Provide technical assistance and support to the Moodle Learning Management System software:

Responsible for setting up, configuration and fine-tuning of various applications and their associated databases e.g. Moodle learning, management system (LMS) and Document Management (DMS).

Minimum Requirements 


Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or IT;

Be of high Christian morals, values and maturity.

Outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills;

High sense of integrity and organizational ability;

High Level knowledge in Unix/Windows operating systems skills;

Knowledge of relational database management systems (RDBMS), object oriented database management systems’ (OODBMS) and XML databse management systems;

Experience with common open source software such as Apache, Tomcat, PHP, Perl etc).

Good understanding and experience with learning Management systems such as Moodle

Experience with common open source software such as Apache, Tomcat, PHP, Perl etc).

Good understanding and experience with Document Management Solutions such as Afresco Document Management Software

At least four (4) year’s of experience as a Database/Application Administrator in a busy institution;

Solid understanding of Structured Query Language (SQL)
