Key responsibilities and duties/Job specifications:
- Conduct Clinical Instructions both in wards and Skills
Laboratory.
- Prepare Skills Laboratory practical manuals in liaison with
lecturers.
- Develop and review Clinical Instruction Standard Operating
Procedures (SOPs), practical manuals.
- Clinical supervision — coordinate student rotations and/or
site visits and help students understand their duties in different
Clinical settings.
- Develop, implement, enforce, and review hospital measures and
guidelines, and advise the department as required.
- Provide mentorship and coaching to students both during and
outside the formal evaluation and instruction arenas.
- Participate in assessment of students in both formative and
summative stages.
- Advise the Department and University on Clinical instruction
matters and services.
- Act as a goodwill ambassador of the Clinical Medicine
programme and the University.
- Participate in community outreach programmes according to set
schedule.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Medicine and Surgery or
equivalent qualification.
- At least three years’ experience in Clinical instruction and
mentorship of students in the clinical area.
- Minimum three years of working experience in a busy hospital.
- Must be registered with the Clinical Officers’ Council (COC)
of Kenya and have a valid practicing license.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or Emergency Triage
Assessment and Treatment plus (ETAT+) is an added advantage.
