Senior Officer, Core Banking Applications
Job Summary:
The overall purpose of
this role is to supervise and maintain the bank’s repository of core software
and applications through best practices and the appropriate collaboration with
technical, business, and third-party organizations as well as plan and coordinate
migrations, upgrades, new version analysis, and advise on design, development,
and deployment of mission-critical information systems.
Key Responsibilities
To
ensure full availability (24/7) of all the Applications of the Core unit in
line with the IT policy, procedures, and the Bank’s strategic plan.
Analysis
and assessment of business needs and requirements versus system support.
Provide
Core Banking System parameterization according to the user requests as well as
a regular periodic parameterization
Create
new branches, products, features, and modules in the core banking system upon
request.
Identify,
analyze and report occurred and potential user and/or system problems as well
as coordinate with software vendors for solutions, including troubleshooting,
root cause analysis, and implementing bug fixes.
Support
system upgrades, new features, and/or product tests, and apply fixes/patches
Coordinate
DRP/BCP of core banking system testing and provide reports for ensuring
compliance with the comply with IT policy
Provide
system training and support to head office and branches
Provide
coordination and necessary Core Banking System Support during testing,
implementation, and go-live of all core banking peripheral applications such as
ATM, Switch, Clearing, AML, Treasury Application, Loan/Credit application,
Analytics, etc.
Assist
in delivering system solutions and implementing projects to meet business,
operation, and compliance objectives.
Work
with various parties to asses, propose, develop, test, and roll out solutions
to ensure successful system implementation
Provide
application support to achieve a target level of availability thus requiring
the incumbent to track problems and ensure speedy resolution either internally
or by the vendor to minimize disruption to business operations.
Follow
up audit findings, propose remediation, and ensure rectification or mitigation
is carried out successfully.
Work
closely with data entry and teller to ensure that they can finish their tasks
before the close of business.
Work
closely with the human resource office to perform change requests from all
branches related to the core banking system.
Provides
support to the IT Help desk for application-related calls.
Ensure
work as per the Bank’s policies and guidelines and also as per audit
recommendations/requirements.
Prepares
written materials (e.g. procedures, system-level documentation, reports, memos,
letters, etc.) to document activities, providing written reference, and/or
conveying information.
Provide
leadership to other unit staff in ensuring services are delivered accurately
and timely while adhering to laid-out procedures and policies.
Ensure
compliance with bank and regulatory requirements during the implementation of
various related services for the bank.
Be
a core member of all IT project implementation groups, coordinating the
execution of BANK-related activities.
Perform
change management risk reviews and post-implementation reviews for all change
requests.
Proactively
monitoring Core Apps services to ensure compliance of all users and services,
and in case of any discrepancy report immediately to the Head of IT
Applications.
Regularly
review and update Core Apps-related policies, standards, and operating
procedures, while enforcing departmental and organization-wise compliance with
the IT management policies.

Education,
Knowledge, skills, and Experience required for this Role
Minimum
4 years of working experience in Core Banking System or related fields out of
which at least five (2) continuous years should be at the Officer level.
Bachelor’s
degree in Business related field. A degree in IT/MIS is an added advantage
Experience
in supporting Oracle Flexcube is an added advantage.
Good
querying and scripting skills
Good
knowledge of financial/accounting principles and Banking Operations.
Fluency
in spoken and written English

Java, C, C++, Html, Php.
