Medical Officers
Duties and
responsibilities:
The Medical
Officer shall be responsible to the employer and the supervisor for the
following:
Attending
to patients in clerking, diagnoses, management, and follow- up;
Performing
medical and surgical procedures;
Preparing
and responding to emergencies and disasters;
Participating
in management of medicine and medical instruments and equipment;
Providing health education;
Maintaining
medical records, health information, and data;
Counselling
patients and relatives on diagnosis and bereavement;
Teaching
and coaching Medical students, Nursing students and
Clinical
Officers interns;
Any
other duty that the supervisor may assig.
Requirements for
appointment:
Be a Kenyan citizen;
Be a holder of a Bachelor of
Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B., & ChB.) Degree from a University
recognized in Kenya;
Have completed 12 months
internship period;
Registered as a Medical
Practitioner by the Medical Practitioners and Dentist Council;
Have a Valid Practicing License;
Be of acceptable moral and
professional standing;
Willing to undertake duties in
any part of Tharaka Nithi County as they will be assigned from time to time;

Successful
applicants are expected to get clearance from the following bodies.
Kenya
Revenue Authority(KRA)
Credit
Reference Bureau(CRB)
Higher
Education Loans Board(HELB)
Ethics
and Anti-Corruption Commission(EACC)
Directorate
of Criminal Investigation (DCI)
For
those with higher education certificates (degrees) from outside Kenya, a letter
of recognition of qualifications from the Commission of University Education.
Some detailed curriculum
vitae, copies of relevant academic and professional certificates and
transcripts, a National Identity Card or Passport, testimonials, and other
relevant supporting documents should accompany each application.
