Community Mobilizer
Job Purpose
The Community mobilizer
will be responsible for the planning implementation, and documentation of all
the extension activities regarding the sustainable FMNR, Agro-Forestry and
conservation initiatives with a gender bias within the area of operation as per
the proposal. Provide necessary Environmental Management related training,
follow-up, support and guidance to the farmers, youth and women groups under
FMNR and evergreen agriculture component of the project.
The job holder in
collaboration with the Project Manager, project staff, Kenya Forestry Services
staff, KEFRI, Moi University, Ministry of Environment, Education, and other
stakeholders on the ground will be in charge of all the environmental
conservation extension activities for the FMNR project with a gender bias as
per the detailed implementation plan.
He/she will communicate
World Vision’s Christian ethos and demonstrate a quality of spiritual life that
is an example to others.
Key Responsibilities
Project Implementation and
Monitoring
Train
the selected groups and farmers on the various proposed activities.
Conduct
on-site FMNR, Agroforestry, and re-greening initiatives training in
collaboration with the project officer and technical Ministry stakeholders.
Organize
and Support community / Farmers Capacity building on sustainable alternative
livelihood options that include climate smart approaches e.g. promoting green
energy options, conservation agriculture, etc.
Support
development and actualization of field monitoring standard in the Area
Programme.
Work
closely with the project and AP team to implement appropriate project
initiatives to promote sustainable environment conservation and enhance natural
resiliency.
Ensure
that all FMNR, Agro-forestry and conservation initiatives within the project’s
area of influence meet or exceed planned outcomes and are implemented in full
compliance with the project’s guidelines.
Ensure
timely and appropriate utilization of budgeted resources for all FMNR,
Agro-forestry, climate-smart agriculture, soil and water conservation farming
methods, and other related project interventions
Support
and carry out baseline surveys and end-of-project evaluation.
Engage
with key stakeholders, Community, government, church, and other civil society
representatives in order to maximize the impact of FMNR, agro-forestry, and
other conservation efforts.
Support
integration of climate-smart agriculture approaches and economic empowerment
models such as VSLA
Support
strengthening community governance systems on the environment and climate change
Take
good care of the organization’s assets/equipment under your custody at any
given time e.g. computers, cameras, phones, etc.
Reporting and Documentation
Compile
the necessary monthly, quarterly a,nd annual reports and submit to the Project
Manager.
Attend
the regular weekly and monthly planning meetings as called upon.
Regularly
document success stories/innovations for sharing with the PC
Others
Any
other duties as assigned by the Supervisor
Qualifications
Required Professional
Experience
Diploma
in Forestry, Agroforestry and Natural Resource Management related field
Good
understanding of World Vision and sphere standards.
Knowledge
of and adherence to the Red Cross and NGO Code of Conduct.
Ability
to engage with local communities, partners, and government authorities
Exposure
to gender-biased programming will be of value
Speaks
and understands local language and geography
Ability
to engage with local communities, partners, and government authorities
Additional
training or skills in gender mainstreaming/integration is an added advantage
Knowledge
of GESI will also be an added advantage.
Good
computer skills in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
Required Education,
training, license, registration, and certification
Valid
motorbike riding license
Valid
certificate of good conduct
Preferred Knowledge and
Qualifications
At
least two years of job experience and specialties in Forestry, Agroforestry,
Natural Resource Management, and with some experience in Agriculture.
Experience
working with NGOs will be an added advantage
Must
have a good understanding of the different systems of extension delivery.
