Infection Prevention Control (IPC) Coordinator
Job Objective/Purpose
Leading and coordinating
the hospital infection prevention & control programs, and upholding
clinical quality and patient safety performance standards, in line with the
Hospital protocols and strategies.
Key Responsibilities
IPC Program Management
Coordinate,
plan, implement and evaluate IPC Program management and communication
Make
routine rounds/ audits to units for case findings, review and supervision of
the implementation of Infection control standards.
Assess
risk of occupational exposures to infectious disease and report any potentially
controversial findings or issues with widespread impact, including coordinating
with PHOs in monitoring outbreaks.
Supervise
waste management program, maintaining records of sharp injury register, culture
reports, and nosocomial infection register.
As
directed, participate in and/or lead committees related to and directly
impacted by infection control.
Clinical
Quality and Patient Safety
Coordinate
investigations of incidents/ complaints, sentinel events, and data collection
for corrective actions, including RCAs and action plans.
Coordinate
the collection, analysis and reporting of all quality indicators.
Perform
administrative duties such as completing infection forms, reports, evaluations,
maintaining dashboards, etc. to support IPC and quality improvement and
accreditation activities.
Oversee
the Education of staff, including orientation and Training to ensure
performance improvement on IPC and quality.
Ensure
that Avenue Healthcare corporate governance policies are adhered to, including
preventing, detecting, and reporting any fraud or criminal activities, and
Implementing audit recommendations.
Ensure
adequate knowledge of, and compliance to all Avenue Healthcare policies,
procedures, and systems, especially policies pertaining to the provision of
medical services.
Adhere
to Government and professional standards as guided by the Nursing Council of
Kenya.
Any
other duty as assigned by the supervisor.
Personal Specifications
Diploma
in Nursing (KRCHN). BsN or Higher Diploma in Nursing is an added advantage
A
valid Nursing License from NCK
Valid
certification in BLS, ACLS.
Specialty
training in IPC highly desirable
3+
years’ experience working in a busy hospital environment.
Strong
interpersonal skills, team playing abilities, and communication skills.
