Duties and
Responsibilities
- Supervision of all Legal Counsel in the Directorate,
undertaking litigation and arbitration on behalf of the County;
- Organize, coordinate and manage administrative and legal
functions of the Office;
- Drafting and reviewing legal documents, local and
international contracts/ agreements, drafting bills and subsidiary
legislation;
- Coordinate training of all Legal Counsel in the Directorate;
- Ensuring compliance with the national values and principles
of good governance and public service set out in article 10 and article
232 of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010, and initiating and undertaking
research on emerging legal issues and preparing Legal opinions and briefs;
- Shall, on the instructions of the county attorney/Solicitor
general, represent the county executive in court or in any other legal
proceedings to which the county executive is a party, other than criminal
proceedings;
Requirements for Appointment
- Holder of Bachelors of Laws (LLB) from a recognized
university;
- Master’s degree in law or any other social science from a
recognized institution will be an added advantage;
- Hold Post graduate diploma in Law from the Council of Legal
Education;
- A minimum of Seven (7) years’ relevant experience, three (3)
years of which must have been in a senior management level in an
institution either in public or private sector;
- Must be an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya for at least
five years and having a current practicing certificate;
- Must be a member of the Law society of Kenya
- Must meet the requirements of chapter six of the Constitution
of Kenya 2010.
- Attended Strategic Leadership Development Programme lasting
not less than six (6) weeks from Kenya School of Government.
