Concrete Manufacturing Technician
About the Role
The Concrete Manufacturing Associate is
responsible for providing professional guidelines on the fabrication and
installation of concrete parts to meet design standards and customer
expectations. The incumbent will oversee all activities pertaining to concrete
preparation, placement, installation, finishing, and curing. You will
critically segment the concrete production process and evaluate the material
schedule and labor expectations of every stage. You must also understand the
order of admixture & recipe infusion at every stage. You are responsible
for production of high-quality concrete products, and efficient & effective
management of the available resources. You will offer technical support as and
when appropriate and ensure due diligence in all the concrete-making and installation
processes, both within the factory and on clients’ sites.
Duties and
Responsibilities
- Consulting the
blueprint mixing schedule and ensuring concrete batching is done in
accordance with specifications.
- Discuss with
the batch plant operators, reinforcement teams, operators, and curing
teams to ensure accurate placements and adherence to guided mixing
methodologies.
- Maintaining
accurate records for the number of materials used at each cycle and the
end products per cycle.
- Inspecting
concrete after de-molding and removing shoring and offering instruction to
the teams on correcting defects and concrete roughness.
- Conduct
structural tests, moisture content, gradation, concrete slump, concrete
compression, survey line, and grades and come up with improvements
that would guarantee the attainment of the right quality of the product.
- Review SOPs
& WI to conform to best practices that would allow teams to achieve
set goals.
- Responsible
for quality controls and possible periodical lab tests for concrete as per
procedure to ensure adherence of staff and workmen to the intended
concrete grades. This includes documenting the test reports, coordinating
and collecting material sampling, organizing for testing and even
submitting the same for a test at the designated concrete labs and
eventually submitting the reports to the relevant officers for action.
- Conduct
inspection of raw materials bought, review the material test certification
with the delivered product and ascertain confirmation of the required
material standards.
- Provides
leadership to other plant employees and operators in absence.
- Maintain and
fill all field reports and data sheets as required (e.g. Timesheet, Work
plan report, report, Installation Record sheets, Material Checklist, Shift
Attendance sheet, etc.) and fill in clearly and correctly.
- Meet with the
direct supervisor every week for performance management discussions &
reviews for quality specs.
- Assist other
teams and undertake other assigned duties and projects as required, like,
ensuring all toilet-quality related cases and maintenance of toilets are
attended to or escalated when not in a position to do so.
- Take part in
scrum meeting discussions to resolve blocks that may hinder work progress
& escalate unresolved bollocks to the supervisor or manager in a
timely manner.
- Judge
situations & ensure that all requests to perform unsafe work practices
that may damage machinery or injury to people or property are declined.
- Provide
technical assistance when called upon, identify & formulate solutions
for problems identified, & escalate improvement points identified, and
resolve disputes in a timely manner, when necessary.
- Maintain
quality standards for all pit conversions & installed toilets by
ensuring best practice is entrenched in work processes
- Must be able
to produce on-time & in-spec concrete for the customer &
critically segment the concrete production process and evaluate the
material schedule and labor expectation of every stage and gather feedback
for continuous improvement.
- Perform all
other duties assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications
- A Diploma in
Construction Management / Civil Engineering or a similar discipline.
- 3-5years
experience in concrete administration, concrete manufacturing and working
with prefabricated concrete
- Previous
experience working as a foreman, supervising masons, and plumbers, with a
good grasp of manufacturing concrete slabs, conducting slab tests,
measuring quality,
- The ideal
candidate should have experience conducting Root Cause Analysis, and
recommending preventative and meditative interventions in concrete mixes
and manufacturing.

- Physical
fitness and stamina since the job holder will spend a lot of time on
his/her feet moving around the various installation sites.
