SENIOR PRINCIPAL COMPLIANCE OFFICER – GRADE E4 (1 POST)
Duties and Responsibilities
Specific duties and
Responsibilities at this level will include but not limited to:
- Ensuring
compliance with EMCA 1999 and its regulations to safeguard the environment;
- Developing
and coordinating licensing programmes country wide;
- Coordinating
preparation of progress reports for the division;
- Monitoring
licensing activities;
- Reviewing
of the draft license conditions;
- Drafting
regulations in consultation with legal and other departments;
- Coordinating
licensing under different licensing regimes;
- Developing
sector specific guidelines;
- Developing
sector specific license conditions;
- Developing
annual work plans, budget, and performance targets for the division;
- Coordinating
development of work plans and schedules for compliance division;
- Supervising,
coaching and appraising staff in the Compliance division.
b) Requirements for appointment
For appointment to this
position, a candidate must have:
- Bachelor’s
degree in any of the following fields; Environmental Studies,
Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry and Chemical
Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Natural Science, Community
Development or any other relevant field from a recognized institution.
- Master’s
degree in any of the following fields; Environmental Studies, Environmental
Science, Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry and Chemical Engineering,
Environmental Engineering, Natural Science, Community Development, Project
Management or any other relevant field from a recognized institution.
- Management
course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution.
- A
minimum of ten (10) years relevant work experience and at least three (3)
years in a management role in the Public Service or Private Sector.
- Proficiency
in Computer Applications.
- Good
communications skills.
- Shown
merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
- Fulfil
the requirements of Chapter 6 of the Constitution.
Terms of service
All the above positions
are on permanent and pensionable terms of service except for the position of Corporation Secretary/Director Legal
Services – Grade
E2, which is on a three (3) years renewable contract.
