Lab Technician - Material Testing
Responsibilities
- Sampling,
Testing and inspecting soils, aggregates, concrete, grout, masonry,
asphalt and structural steel placement.
- Performing
calculations and data reduction of test results along with drafting.
- Using
field screening equipment and documenting readings.
- Interacting
and communicating daily with contractors, technicians and roads.
- Assisting
in field and sampling.
- Drying,
crushing and preserving samples for testing and cleaning of work area and
equipment.
- Deputize
for the Materials technologist in all aspects.
- Responsible
for all field activities including sampling, transportation and testing of
materials in the field labs and production of testing results.
- Monitor
quality and pattern of utilization of all materials incorporated in the
main works.
- Make
daily reports on utilization.
- Preparing
geological and construction samples.
Qualifications
Hard skills and experience:
- A
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering/building and Construction or
related field of study.
- At
least 3 years relevant site work experience in supervision of managing a
lab and /or testing of Materials.
- Computer
literacy and familiarity with standards office and Engineering computer
applications for example AUTOCAD.
- Good
understanding of Contract Management for Civil Engineering Works.
- Excellent
planning and organizational skills.
- Proven
track record in running projects.
