Job Objective/Purpose

To provide overall clinical leadership and governance as well as clinical care in the department of clinical medicine.

Key Responsibilities

1.Conduct Physician outpatient clinics in line with the hospital schedules and attend to both walk-in and referred patients.


2. Attend to all patients who require physician review within hospital standard operating procedures, national and internationally guidelines.

3. Conducting timely ward rounds/patient reviews for all internal medicine patients in the hospital, in line with the hospital standard operating procedures, national, and international treatment guidelines.

4. Accurate and clear documentation of patient history, physical examination, investigations, and management.

5. Provide clarity of investigations to be carried out and interpretation of the results and ensure update to the patients and the next of kin.

6. Facilitate patient admissions, necessary consents, and discharges.

7. Counsel clients on treatment and compliance to treatment (patient and family) while ensuring their participation in decision making in their management.

8. Carry out procedures and surgical interventions as per authorized/licensed privileges while ensuring high quality of care/services and safety of patients.

9. Conduct family conferences in line with hospital standard operating procedures

10. Participate in morbidity and mortality audits and meetings.

11. Participation in incident reporting, root cause analysis and Quality Improvement Plan

12. Participate in the continuous review and improvement of departmental standard operating procedures

13. Facilitate Continuous Medical Education, mentorship, and skills training to colleagues

14. Acquiring new skills on best practices and proactively facilitate implementation.

15. Maintain a positive work attitude and foster teamwork.

16. Always maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.

17. Ensure patient satisfaction through quality of care, communication, feedback and escalation and demonstrate follow-up and improvement.

Personal Specifications

  • Be a holder of a Bachelor’s degree in medicine and surgery
  • Be a holder of Masters in internal Medicine
  • Specialist recognition in internal medicine
  • Fellowship in Cardiology/endocrinology/Nephrology
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant working experience.
  • Customer focused and with excellent communication
  • Results oriented and research skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and a team player
