(MSF) is an international independent medical humanitarian action-driven
organization, which offers assistance to populations in distress, to victims of
natural or man-made disasters and to victims of armed conflict, without
discrimination and irrespective of race, religion, creed or political
affiliation. 26 associations, 23 sections, and 16 branch offices make-up the
international movement and work in partnership around 6 operational entities.
MSF EASTERN AFRICA
MSF Eastern Africa came into being in 2021, growing out of the Nairobi Branch Office. The section is the regional institutional office for MSF in Eastern Africa and focuses on representation and networking, including with humanitarian organizations and authorities, recruiting and supporting staff from the region, communications and fundraising, as well as on other dossiers of importance to MSF such as Diversity, Equality and Inclusion (DEI), mutualization, trainings, medical operational support and environmental health. MSF EA has identified key transversal areas of focus in its two-year strategic plan 2022-2023. This will enable the Section to grow and provide strategic support to the operations while building its capacity for future operational ambitions.
JOB PURPOSE
The role is to lead the
process of MSF EA operationalization, starting from scratch, through intensive
internal consultations within the Movement.
This process requires involvement
of several MSF entities and governance bodies at different stages of a heavy
process (partner sections, Operational Centres, International Board, Core
Executive Committee, Full Executive Committee, MSF East Africa Board and
Association, International General Assembly, etc.).
Duties &
Responsibilities
- Responsible
for leading the process of designing the operational profile of MSF EA,
this process includes:
- The
definition of the roadmap (milestones),
- The
production of all necessary documents related to the formal application of
MSF EA to become operational;
- The
definition of the operational model and structure of MSF EA;
- the
definition of the Backoffice structure adapted to the operational model
and structure;
- The
definition of the operational model and structure of MSF EA;
- the
definition of the Backoffice structure adapted to the operational model
and structure;
- Responsible
for setting and implementing internal and external engagement strategy
related to the operationalization of MSF EA.
- Responsible
for liaising with internal and external support unit or committees such as
TIC Committee, International Secretariat and any other body or entity of
interest.
- Responsible
for the identification of resources required for a successful progress and
implementation of the project.
- Responsible
for the identification and management of the MSF EA operationalisation
team.
KEY DIMENSIONS

- Responsible
for keeping the link with the Strategic Plan review/extension process;
- Responsible
for the organisation and administration of projects and related major
events;
- Responsible
for organizing the content in relevant document in very close
collaboration with the Consultant in charge of the content production;
- Responsible
for internal and external engagements related to the operationalisation of
MSF EA.
- Responsible
for advising the management team (MT) on Key operational priorities and
set up linked to existing/new units.
Qualifications
- Master’s
in administration/International relations/communication or equivalent
discipline
- Minimum
5 years of experience in a high level coordination and management position.
- High
level of understanding of organizational issues.
- Experience
in project management.
- MSF
or similar iNGO experience is desirable.
- Excellent
planner, organizer, coordinator and administrator
- Excellent
computer skills
- Very
good communication and representation/ networking abilities
- High
level of integrity and sound judgement.
- Understanding
of the MSF working environment is an asset.
- Excellent
command of written & spoken English. Good command of French is an
important asset.

WE OFFER
A one-year full time
employment contract (renewable) as soon as possible through MSF Eastern Africa
Section Office in Nairobi.
An annual salary of KES
5,181,181 based on a fulltime appointment.
Global benefit package;
includes school fee benefit/support for dependents and other allowances ranging
between KES 75,000-140,000/month based on individual & administrative
status.
Other benefits include: 25
days of annual leave, Employer Pension contribution, Relocation support for
non-Kenyan residents etc based on MSF EA terms/conditions.
