Profile Introduction

Our client in the logistic Industry is looking for a qualified Compliance and Environmental Manager who will be responsible for overseeing business functions and operational processes to ensure that each policy adheres to internal guidelines and standard legal regulations.

Review and resolve incident reports and recommend solutions to minimize risks and maximize productivity, plan and facilitate compliance training and programs for the employees, and reiterate policies for strict compliance in the workplace.


Key Responsibility

·  The adherence of Systems and Procedures required to reduce the risks in the operation according to the requirements of the legislation and sound corporate governance for HERQ and ensure that this is abided by all employees and Visitors on site.

·  Develop and timeously implement all necessary, policies, procedures and manuals for warehouse and logistics certifications and regulatory requirement to commence operations.

·  Implement timeously all necessary environmental requirements to commence operations in each country

·  Investigate incidents in the workplace and report on corrective actions and preventative action to management and shop floor.

·  Induction and Trainings – Plan for Staff; Contractors; service providers and Visitors.

·  Reduce cost incurred on accidents and occupational illness expenditure e.g. treatment of casualties and insurance claims.

·  Work towards achieving zero Recordable Incidents and accident-related costs (Assist the Company’s ZERO Harm goal – Zero Harm to people, the environment and to the assets)

·  Compile Risk Assessments for each HERQ incident on routine and non-routine activities based on the operation and define and report on hazards.

·  Implement corrective actions and review effectiveness of systems.

·  Assist with Investigations of incidents in the workplace and report on corrective actions and preventative actions to management and shop floor to As Low as reasonably Practicable (ALARP) levels.

·  Ensure that adequate warning signage and information is displayed at the workplace.

·  Maintain HE Systems.

·  Participate in SHE Committee Meetings.

·  Prepare information for management review meetings and internal and external audits.

·  Compile statutory training needs analysis and develop the Internal HSET & OE training Packages.

·  Ensure that the required standards are implemented maintained and closely monitored and resourced for effective and positive results.

·  With the help of human resources, He/ She shall assist in carrying out due diligence regarding potential or NITA approved trainers and training providers as listed on DOSHs

·  Plan industry specific audits and assist with mini customer audits

·  Provide detailed audit reports with findings. Identify non-conformities and provide corrective action measures to prevent re-occurrence. Monitor and review those corrective measures have been implemented. Ensure the quality and facilities objectives are compiled, reviewed, amended and communicated.

·  Prepare daily, weekly and monthly HE reports, statistics and presentations related to HE performance.

·  Develops and manages warehouse Key Performance Indicators.

·  Upholds COVID-19 prevention and safety protocols at the DC per direction from HR/OPS and ensures that daily protocols are being followed in the DC.

·  Ensuring that the various procedures and documents associated with the ESMS are kept up to date.

·  Conduct, or arrange others in the company to conduct, the pre-investment E&S screening process of all proposed investment opportunities

·  If required, define the scope and arrange the commissioning of a consultant to conduct an Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA), Environmental and Social Monitoring, and Management Plan (ESMMP), and other specific E&S studies as needed.

·  Ensure that E&S performance data is collated from the company regularly as prescribed, review this data, and collate it for reporting/presenting to ARCH team on a quarterly and annual basis

·  Ensure that notification of significant E&S incidents from an investee is shared with ARCH

·  When preparing for exit, provide guidance and arrange resources to articulate E&S value creation for potential buyers and conduct diligence on the E&S performance of potential buyers

·  The candidate should be fluent in English, ideally could understand and speak Swahili but not essential

Minimum Requirements:

·  Min 5 years’ experience

·  Degree from a recognized University in Environmental sciences, Science, Engineering, or Occupational Health and Safety

·  Must have Africa knowledge and experience.

·  Must have the right to work in and be based in Kenya.

·  Have and maintain a valid Driver’s License with proof of insurance.

·  Candidate must be willing to undertake significant travel throughout East Africa (potentially up to or over 50% of the time, depending on project locations).

·  Candidate should have significant knowledge and experience of onboarding industry recognized certification related to warehouses and logistics in the food and pharmaceutical industry’s
