Overall Purpose of the Position:
Responsible for execution of Business Unit Logistics management strategy and improve overall efficiency & productivity to maximize customer services at reduced cost through effective picking and timely dispatch of finished goods. Ensures that all distribution, fleet programs and divisional initiatives are executed as designed by providing leadership and coordination of activities. The position will fulfil a central coordinating role between Business Unit departments on their logistic needs, balancing their different priorities and limitations to reach optimal solutions for the company as a whole.
Key Performance Areas:
- Plan,
organize and manage the personnel, outbound operations and transporters to
achieve maximum throughput and achieve customer satisfaction by executing
sales orders in time.
- Ensure
physical checking, counting and shipping adhering to SOPs to maximizes
throughput.
- Establish
and maintain working relationships with outbound domestic carriers.
- Liaise
with vendors and transport companies regarding inter- and intra-company
shipments and expedite where required in order to prevent delays and extra
charges/demurrage.
- Liaise
with internal/external customers on loading and delivery of orders
following the dispatch plan, including proper documentation for export
shipments.
- Load
and dispatch customer orders following the dispatch plan, in order to
achieve maximum On Time In Full deliveries.
- Participate
in carrier management processes, such as selection, qualification and
performance evaluation.
- Maintain
metrics and analyse data to assess performance and implement improvements
and cost-saving opportunities.
- Select
transportation routes to maximize economy by combining shipments or
consolidating warehousing and distribution.
- Resolve
problems concerning transportation, logistics systems, imports or exports,
or customer issues.
- Monitor
product import or export processes to ensure compliance with regulatory or
legal requirements.
- Ensure
products routed for delivery are in compliance with company’s product
integrity policies and prior cargo loading guidelines and weight
restrictions.
- Collaborate
with key stakeholders in operations, and sales to increase efficiency of
outbound logistic operations and execute all sales orders accurately and
timely.
- Ensure
that adequate insurance policy cover is arranged by the company for goods
in transit and in stores.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelors
Degree in Logistics/Supply Chain Management.
- Minimum10
years in ERP based Supply Chain position in a busy manufacturing, steel or
FMCG with a minimum 5 years in similar role.
- Experience
of fleet management is preferred.
- End
user of ERP System preferably SAP ERP System.
- Excellent
understanding of end-to-end Supply Chain processes and best practices and
best practices in Lean Manufacturing environment.
