Library Assistants

following vacant positions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Library and Information
Science/Archives and Records Management or its equivalent from a
recognized institution.
- Higher National Diploma in Library and Information
Science/Archives and Records Management or its equivalent from a
recognized institution.
- Computer literacy.
- 3 years’ experience as a Library Assistant I in
MKU or in a similar recognized University.
- OR
- Diploma in Library and Information Science or
Archives and Records Management.
- Five (5) years’ experience as a Library Assistant
I or Assistant
- Archivist I in MKU or in a similar recognized
University. Must be computer Literate.
Responsibilities
- Accessioning, giving new books ownership stamp.
- Classification, cataloguing, indexing and
abstracting.
- Electronic learning user support services
(internet & email).
- Library user orientation and education.
- Literature search using online public access
catalogue (OPAC).
- Online circulation of library books (Check in and
Check out).
- Preservation of library materials.
- Reference and reprography services.
- Shelving of information services.
- Advice on required materials in the library.
- To appropriately execute any other duties as
directed by the University Librarian
