Finance & Accounts Intern Job in Kenya

Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) is a State Corporation established by the Statistics Act (2006). It is the principal Government agency responsible for the collection, compilation, analysis, publication and dissemination of official statistical information and its custody. It also oversees the coordination, supervision and development of programmes within the National Statistical System (NSS).

KNBS qualified individuals to fill the following vacancies;

Job Title: Intern, Finance & Accounts

Ref: KNBS/IF&A/3/2022

No. of Positions: 1

Terms of Service: Temporary (12 months)

Job Purpose:

An Intern at this level will work under a senior officer who will be appointed as a Supervisor to guide him /her in the performance of duties in the area of Finance and Accounts.

Responsibilities

  • Participating in verifying vouchers and committal documents;
  • Participating in receiving and registering processed payments and receipt vouchers;
  • Participating in posting payments and receipt vouchers in the cash books;
  • Participating in raising requisitions for cash reimbursement;
  • Participating in recording payment receipts;
  • Participating in updating and maintaining accounting information;
  • Participating in controlling and maintaining staff Imprests and advances records;
  • Undertaking any other duties assigned by the Supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Must be a Kenyan citizen;
  • Must have attained a Bachelor Degree in Commerce (Accounting or Finance option); Business Administration (Accounting option) or related qualifications from a recognized institution;
  • A pass in Part II of the Certified Public Accountants (CPA) or Part II of ACCA Examination or any other related qualifications from a recognized institution will be an added advantage.

Additional information

  • Should not be engaged in another organization;
  • Must be computer literate;
  • Must be available full time for the twelve months’ duration of the program;
  • Should possess interpersonal, analytical and communication skills;
  • Must be goal oriented and dynamic;
  • Take note that the monthly stipend for Interns is Kshs. 25,000 and statutory deductions will apply
