The County Government of Bomet through the Public Service Board invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following vacancies in the Department of Medical Services:-

Pharmacist J/G ‘CPSB  07’ ( 3 posts) 
Responsibilities
  • Quantification and forecasting of pharmaceutical and non- pharmaceuticals in their respective units
  • Participate in pharmacovigilance and other drug safety measures
  • Provide guidance on proper drug storage and handling
  • Supervise and train students attached to their units
  • Any other duty assigned by the superiors from time to time
Qualifications
For appointment to this grade a candidate must have: –
  • Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from a recognized institution
  • Successfully completed one (1) year Internship from a recognized institution
  • Registration license from the Medical Practitioners and Dentists council
  • Registration by pharmacy and poison board

Medical Officer –J/G ‘CPSB 07’ (10 Posts) 
 Responsibilities
Reporting to the Medical Superintendent, the officer will be: –
  • Responsible for diagnosing, caring and treating diseases;
  • performing medical and surgical procedures;
  • preparing and responding to emergencies and disasters;
  • participating in    management    of    medicines,    medical instruments and equipment;
  • providing health education;
  • maintaining medical records, health Information and data;
  • counselling patients and their relatives on diagnoses and bereavement;
  • teaching and coaching medical students, nursing students and clinical officer interns; and preparing requisite documents for registration
  • Any other duty assigned by the superiors from time to time
Qualifications
For appointment to this grade a candidate must have: –
  • Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B; Ch.B.) degree from a recognized institution
  • successfully completed   one   (1)   year   Internship   from   a recognized institution
  • Registration license from the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board.

Pediatrician – J/G ‘CPSB 04’ (1 Post) 
 Responsibilities
Reporting to the medical superintendent in charge, the specialist will: –
  • Provide guidance in their departments as consultants in their respective areas
  • Train students attached to the department
  • Perform general pediatrics treatment, procedures as needed to preserve patient’s health safely
  • Analyze records,   reports,   test   results,   or   examination information to diagnose medical condition of patients
  • Explain procedures and discuss test results or prescribed treatments with patients
  • Monitor patient’s conditions and progress and reevaluate treatments as necessary
  • Any other duty assigned by the superiors from time to time
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in pediatrics (MMED PEADS)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery (MBCHB)
  • Registered with the Kenya Medical practitioners and Dentists Board
  • Have current annual retention certificate by the Kenya Medical practitioners and Dentists Board

Obstetrician/ Gynecologist – J/G ‘CPSB 04’ (1 Post)
 Responsibilities
Reporting to the medical superintendent in charge, the specialist will: –
  • Provide guidance in their departments as consultants in their respective areas
  • Care for and treat women during prenatal, natal and postnatal periods
  • Perform cesarean sections or other surgical procedures as needed to preserve patient’s health and deliver babies safely
  • Train students attached to the department
  • Analyze records,   reports,   test   results,   or   examination information to diagnose medical condition of patients
  • Explain procedures and discuss test results or prescribed treatments with patients
  • Monitor patient’s   conditions,   progress   and   reevaluate treatments as necessary
  • Any other duty assigned by the superiors from time to time
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery (MBCHB)
  • Master’s degree in the relevant field (OBGY)
  • Registered with the Kenya Medical practitioners and Dentists Boards
  • Have current annual retention certificate by the Kenya Medical practitioners and Dentists Board

Physician –J/G ‘CPSB 04’ (1 Post) 
 Responsibilities
Reporting to the medical superintendent in charge, the specialist will:
  • Head the unit and discharge both clinical, supervisory and administrative
  • Provide treatment for wide variety of common problems
  • Evaluate symptoms, run tests to diagnose a patient’s condition and then prescribe medication or treatment to remedy the illness or
  • Train students attached to the unit
  • Any other duty assigned by the superiors from time to time
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in the relevant field (M. Med)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery (MBCHB)
  • Registered with the Kenya Medical practitioners and Dentists Board
  • Have current annual retention certificate by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board

Ophthalmologist – J/G ‘CPSB 04’ (1 Post)
 Responsibilities
Reporting to the medical superintendent in charge, the specialist will: –
  • Head the unit and discharge both clinical, supervisory and administrative duties
  • Provide treatment and consultancy services on ophthalmic cases
  • Work with and advice the outreach team on ophthalmic services.
  • Carry out corrective eye surgeries
  • Train students attached to the unit
  • Any other duty assigned by the superiors from time to time
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in the relevant field (M. Ophthalmology)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery (MBCHB)
  • Registered with the Kenya Medical practitioners and Dentists Board
  • Must be willing to work during odd hours and on weekends/holidays
  • Must have served in the grade of Senior Medical officer for at least three (3) years
  • Have current annual retention certificate by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board

General Surgeon – J/G ‘CPSB 04’ (1 Post) 
Responsibilities
Reporting to the medical superintendent in charge, the specialist will: –
  • Provide guidance in their departments as consultants in their respective areas
  • Train students attached to the department
  • Perform general surgical procedures as needed to preserve patient’s health safely
  • Analyze records,   reports,   test   results,   or   examination information to diagnose medical condition of patients
  • Explain procedures and discuss test results or prescribed treatments with patients
  • Monitor patient’s conditions and progress and reevaluate treatments as necessary
  • Refer patients to medical specialist or other practitioner when necessary
  • Any other duty assigned by the superiors from time to time
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in the relevant field (M. SURG)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery (MBCHB)
  • Registered with the Kenya Medical practitioners and Dentists Boards
  • Have current annual retention certificate by the Kenya Medical practitioners and Dentists Board
