The Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation, (formerly, the Rural Electrification Corporation ) a state corporation established under the Energy Act, 2019, is mandated to enhance provision of electricity in the rural areas of the country as well as develop, manage and promote the use of renewable energy in Kenya. Through its mandate, the Corporation seeks to improve the socio-economic well-being of Kenyans living in rural areas as well as develop cheap alternative sources of energy through the promotion of renewable energy. Since commencing operations in the 2008/09 financial year, the Corporation has endeavored to realize this objective and through its efforts, 70% of all the public facilities have been electrified. Moving forward, the Corporation will put more focus on renewable energy to provide electricity to areas far away from the national grid network.

Applications are invited from professionals who meet ALL the minimum qualifications for the following position;
LEGAL ASSISTANT, GRADE REREC 8 (1 POST)
Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail assisting in:-
·         Attending registries and/or other government offices for purposes including: filing, registrations, making payments, making applications, fixing dates, perusals and searches, extracting court orders, obtaining consents, obtaining conveyancing demands and certificates;
·         Effecting service and delivery of requisite dispatch;
·         Preparing and signing affidavits of service;
·         Facilitating payment of legal fees;
·         Updating contractors/customers/clients and calling for documents which are in their possession where necessary
·         Arranging files in the Corporation’s legal registry, and filing documents in the relevant files;
·         Retrieving files and documents needed by Legal Counsel; and
·         Handling matters expected of a Assistant and or any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:-
·         Diploma in Law and Paralegal studies from a recognized institution;
OR
·         Certificate in Law and Paralegal studies from a recognized institution;
·         A minimum period of four (4) years’ relevant work experience;
·         Minimum KCSE C- (minus) or its equivalent;
·         Proficiency in computer applications; and
·         Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.

MANAGER, DESIGN, GRADE REREC 3 (1 POST) – RE-ADVERTISEMENT
Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities will entail:-
·         Oversee Implementation of policies and programmes on power system design;
·         Providing technical leadership and guidance on matters pertaining to design of distribution and transmission lines;
·         Formulating of power system design standards and ensuring they are adhered to;
·         Developing designs for all grid extension projects as per the acceptable standards;
·         Verifying and authorising technical reports, designs estimates and drawings;
·         Recommending location of proposed distribution networks including primary and secondary feeding substations by preparing description of project works, material schedules and cost estimates;
·         Advising the Supplies Chain Management on the required materials as per the approved projects for the year;
·         Verifying of wayleaves compensation before approval;
·         Coordinating and Compilation and documentation of projects technical reports including Design, Survey, Cartography and Wayleave;
·         Liaising with other departments/sections of the Corporation on specific issues;
·         Managing human, financial and material resources assigned to the Department;
·         Coordinating preparation of budget and ensuring budgetary control for the Department;
·         Maintaining a supportive working environment to foster optimum performance;
·         Monitoring Departmental performance and initiate necessary interventions;
·         Ensuring surveys for all REREC grid, substation and mini-grid sites projects are done as per the acceptable standards;
·         Ensuring Cartography services for all grid project are done as per the acceptable standards;
·         Ensuring acquisition of wayleaves for all REREC projects; and
·         Providing advisory functions to top management on all matters relating to the extension of the grid.
Qualifications
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:-
·         A minimum period of ten (10) years relevant working experience, four (4) of which must have been in a management role in comparable and relevant position;
·         Bachelor’s degree in any of the following: Mechanical, Electrical/Electronics or any other related field from a recognized institution;
·         Masters degree in any of the following: Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Energy Management, Business Administration or relevant degree from a recognized institution;
·         Postgraduate Diploma in a relevant area;
·         Professional qualification;
·         Registered with the Engineers Board of Kenya;
·         Certificate in management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks;
·         Proficiency in computer applications; and
·         Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.

MANAGER, CONSTRUCTION, GRADE REREC 3 (1 POST) – RE-ADVERTISEMENT
Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities will entail:-
·         Coordinating preparation of annual Departmental Performance Contracts;
·         Implementing policies and programmes on power system designs;
·         Preparing Purchase Requisition (PR)for designed projects;
·         Monitoring and evaluating the implementation of Construction Contracts;
·         Participating in annual review of the REREC projects plan;
·         Coordinating the supervision of construction of all REREC grid projects;
·          Ensuring that records of all grid projects constructed in the country are properly kept both at the Regional office and head Office;
·         Ensuring projects information is updated from time to time;
·         Preparing the weekly projects reports;
·         Providing completion certificates for completed projects;
·         Ensuring timely delivery of projects;
·         Providing technical leadership and guidance on matters pertaining to construction of distribution and transmission lines as necessary;
·         Participating in formulation of power system design standards and ensure they are adhered to;
·         Coordinating supervision and provision of technical expertise to contractors;
·         Verifying technical reports, designs and estimates for projects;
·         Ensuring all construction works conform to the approved standards;
·         Managing human, financial and material resources assigned to the department;
·         Providing advisory functions to top management on all matters relating to the extension of the grid;
·         Developing clear procedures on the preparation and issuance of stores requisition forms (STF); and
·         Liaising with other departments/sections of the Corporation on specific issues.
Qualifications
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:-
·         A minimum period of ten (10) years relevant working experience, four (4) of which must have been in a management role in comparable and relevant position;
·         Bachelor’s degree in any of the following: Mechanical, Electrical/Electronics or any other related field from a recognized institution;

CORPORATE COMMUNICATION ASSISTANT, GRADE REREC 8 (1 POST)
Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities will entail assisting in:-
·         Manning the reception desk;
·          Profiling visitors;
·         Recording and confirming visitors appointments;
·         Maintaining daily record of visitors details;
·         Maintaining good ambience in the reception area;
·          Responding to client and visitors queries including online feedback; and
·         Receiving, guiding and directing visitors to designated offices and areas.
Qualifications
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:-
·         Diploma in any of the following disciplines: Journalism, International Relations, Mass Communication, Communication Studies, Public Relations or its approved equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution;
·          A minimum KCSE C- (minus) or its equivalent;
·         Proficiency in computer applications; and
·         Fulfilled the requirement of Chapter Six of the Constitution

DRIVER, GRADE REREC 9 (1 POST)
Responsibilities
Duties and Responsibilities at this level will entail:-
·         Maintaining cleanliness of the assigned vehicle;
·         Keeping up to date work tickets for vehicles;
·         Submitting regular reports on motor vehicle assigned;
·         Reporting any mechanical/accident problems; and
·         Maintaining proper mechanical working condition of the vehicle;
·         Ensuring safety of vehicle on and off the road; and
·         Ensuring safety of passenger and or good therein.
Qualifications
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:-
·         A minimum period of four (4) years’ relevant work experience;
·         A minimum mean Grade D (plain) in the KCSE or its equivalent from a recognized institution;
·         The Occupational Trade Test II Certificate;
·         Valid driving license free from any current endorsements(s) for classes of the vehicles the driver is required to drive;
·         Certificate of Good Conduct (renewable after two (2) years);
·         First Aid Certificate course lasting not less than one (1) week from St. Johns Ambulance or any other recognized institution;
·         An accident free driving period of 3 years; and
·         Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.

SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT ASSISTANT, GRADE REREC 8 (2 POSTS)
Responsibilities
An officer may be posted in Receiving, Stock Control and Issuing on periodic rotation:-
The duties and responsibilities will entail assisting in:-
I. Receiving Functions
·         Receiving materials, examine condition and completeness;
·         Using computer systems to confirm the correct supplies;
·         Confirming all receiving documents; Bill of lading, packing list, delivery note etc.;
·         Determining space requirement and position of the material;
·         Generating Goods Received Notes (GRN);
·         Capturing and processing stores data;
·         Complying with Procurement Act;
·         Preparing requisitions for stocks replenishment;
·         Monitoring the movement of stores;
·         Preparing daily and weekly receiving reports; and
·         Stock verification and reconciliation of records.
II. Stock controls Functions
·         Verification of physical stocks and comparing them with the system balances and record the position;
·         Monitoring stock levels and report replenishment requirements;
·         Filling all the stock documents;
·         Preparing daily and weekly reports; and
·         Complying with Procurement Act.
III. Issuing Functions
·         Confirming authorization of requisitions and contractors;
·         Determining the vehicle capacity according to weight limits before loading;
·         Issuing stores;
·         Sorting, despatching and filing documents;
·         Capturing and processing stores data;
·         Complying with Procurement Act;
·         Monitoring the movement of stores;
·         Preparing daily and weekly issuing reports; and
·         Stock verification and reconciliation of records.
IV. Dispatch Functions
·         Confirming that the authorized person is the one signing out for the materials;
·         Preparing the gate pass;
·         Coordinating authorization of the gate pass;
·         Filing all the dispatch documents; and
·         Complying with Procurement Act.
Qualifications
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:-
·         Diploma in Procurement and Supplies Management, Business Administration, or other relevant field from a recognized institution;
·         Membership to a professional body either KISM or CIPS; and in good standing;
·         Proficiency in computer applications; and
·         Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution
