Livestock Production Officer

JG “K”
Responsibilities
·         Providing technical advice in Animal Production, Livestock Marketing, range management and apiculture to promote economic livestock farming and
·         Assisting in organizing extension activities including field days, field demonstrations, farmer field schools and farm visits.
Qualifications

For appointment to this grade, one must:-
·         Be a Kenyan Citizen
·         Be in possession of a Bachelor of Science degree in any of the following disciplines: Animal Science/Animal Production, Agriculture, Agribusiness, Food Science and Technology, Agriculture and Home Economics, Range Management/ Natural Resource Management, Livestock/Agricultural Economics and Dairy Technology, Agricultural Education and Extension, Animal Health and Management or any other relevant and equivalent qualifications from a recognized Institution.

Assistant Livestock Production Officer III

JG “H”
Responsibilities
·         Assisting in organizing and executing livestock extension duties at this level;
·         Assisting in designing livestock enterprise plans, and
·         Assisting in training ward staff and farmers.
Qualifications
For appointment to this grade, one must:-
·         Be a Kenyan Citizen
·         Be in possession of a Diploma in any of the following fields; Animal husbandry, Dairy Science and Technology, Agriculture and Home Economics, Animal Health and Production and range management/farm management from recognized institution
·         Have a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade of C (Plain) or its Equivalent.

Livestock Production Assistant II

JG “G”
Responsibilities
·         Assisting in the dissemination of Livestock Production technologies, such as construction of livestock housing and structures, clean milk production, pasture and fodder production and conservation, farm planning, gross margin analysis, on farm feed formulation and
·         Participating in ward development action plans and collection of livestock data and information within the sub-location.
Qualifications
For appointment to this grade, one must:-
·         Be a Kenyan Citizen
·         Have attained a two (2) year certificate in any of the following fields; Animal Husbandry, Dairy Science and Technology, Agriculture and Home Economics, Animal Health and Production and range management/farm management from recognize institutions.
·         Have a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade of C- (Minus) or it’s Equivalent.

Veterinary Officer

JG “L”
Responsibilities
·         Undertaking disease control activities such as disease search, vaccination and enforcement of livestock movement regulations;
·         Participating in the training of stakeholders in vector control programmes;
·         Treating sick animals;
·         Advising on good veterinary practices;
·         Collecting’ data and preparing reports on animal health, products and markets;
·         Providing advise on animal breeding and welfare;
·         Undertaking postmortem examination and other diagnostic tests; and
·         Any other lawful duties that may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications
For appointment to this grade, one must:-
·         Be a Kenyan citizen.
·         Be in possession of a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine (BVM) Degree from a recognized institution.
·         Be registered by the Kenya Veterinary Board.
·         Have a Certificate in computer applications from a recognized institution.

Animal Health Officer

JG “K”
Responsibilities
·         Overseeing construction and maintenance of farm structures;
·         Giving advice on dip designing, siting and appraising construction and inspection and verification of imports and export of consignments;
·         Training and advising on milking techniques and external parasite control techniques such as dipping, spraying and ·dusting;
·         Carrying out vaccination, closed castration, dehorning, animal identification, deworming, disbudding, docking, de-beaking and hoof trimming;
·         Carrying out simple treatment of animals;
·         Participating in disease search, collecting and collating data and writing technical reports; keeping records on animal breeding, animal health, milk production, dipping data, slaughter house daily kill, meat condemnation and movement permits;
·         Maintaining dairy units;
·         Participating in animal health field demonstrations and agricultural shows and any other lawful duties that may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications
For appointment to this grade, one must:-
·         Be a Kenyan citizen.
·         Be in possession of a Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: – Animal Health Management; Animal Production, Animal Production and Health Management, Environmental Health Sciences, Livestock Economics or Health Extension from a recognized institution;
·         Be registered by the Kenya Veterinary Board; and
·         Have a Certificate in computer applications from a recognized institution.

Animal Health Assistant II

JG “G”
Responsibilities
·         Carrying out simple treatment of animals;
·         Participating in disease search and reporting;
·         Demonstrating on milking techniques and external parasite control techniques such as dipping, spraying and dusting;
·         Carrying out meat inspection;
·         Carrying out vaccination; and
·         Undertaking closed castration, dehorning, de-worming, disbudding, docking, debeaking and hoof trimming.
Qualifications
For appointment to this grade, one must:-
·         Be a Kenyan Citizen
·         Have a Certificate lasting not less than two (2) years in any of the following disciplines: Animal Health Environmental Health, Animal Health and Production from a recognized institution:
·         Be registered by the Kenya Veterinary Board; and
·         Have a Certificate in computer applications from a recognized institution.

Laboratory Technologist

JG “G”
Responsibilities
·         Operationalizing the veterinary laboratory under the supervision of the veterinary officer;
·         Field sampling of suspected animals’ samples and Laboratory examination;
·         Packaging of infected materials for submission to regional or national veterinary Laboratories and
·         Compiling reports.

·         Have a two (2) year certificate in laboratory Technology
·         Have a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade of C (Plain) or its Equivalent.

Leather Development Officer

JG “K”
Responsibilities
·         Monitoring the production trends of leather and leather Products;
·         Undertaking relevant training and demonstrations on best practices to stakeholders for production of high quality hides, skin and leather products;
·         Collecting and Collating data on hides and skins;
·         Undertaking hides and skins and leather projects activities and
·         Undertaking inspection of curing premises and stores for issuance of registration of premises disposal from tanneries and hides and skins curing premises.
Qualifications
For appointment to this grade, one must:-
·         Be a Kenyan Citizen;
·         Have Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following fields:- Leather Technology, Footwear Technology, Materials Technology (Leather) or Leather Goods Design and Development from a recognized institution;
OR
·         Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science or Animal Science from a recognized University with a basic two year certificate or Diploma or at least one year post graduate training in Hides and Skins or Leather Technology from a recognized institution;
·         Have a Certificate in Computer Applications from a recognized institution.

Leather Development Assistant II

Responsibilities
·         Demonstrating to traders and skin flayers on the appropriate methods of flaying, cleaning, curing and storage of hides and skins;
·         Ensuring that the hides and skins are delivered to the curing premises immediately after flaying, collecting hides and skin data on production;
·         Grading, identifying defects and issuing notes to facilitate hides and skins as a disease control measures; and
·         Any other lawful duties that may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications
For appointment to this grade, one must:-
·         Be a Kenyan Citizen;
·         Be in possession of a two year Certificate in either Hides and Skins Improvement or Leather Technology from a recognized institution; and
·         Have a Certificate in Computer Applications from a recognized institution.
