Chief Manager (Development)
Job Purpose
Reporting
to the Director of University Advancement, the Chief Manager, Development will
spearhead the University development strategy as part of its strategy to expand
and diversify its revenue streams.
Responsibilities
·
Strengthen the capacity of
USIU-Africa to harness non-tuition income of the University.
·
Develop, implement and monitor
policies, plans, strategies, and outputs.
·
Manage a diverse and innovative
portfolio of development (fundraising) programs.
·
Manage the development (fundraising)
team and work closely with Alumni Relations, Partnerships and External
Linkages, Schools, and other University stakeholders.
·
Maintain a database and monitor all
University non-tuition revenues.
·
Work with staff and volunteers to
ensure that all fundraising activities are consistent with the overall mission
and policies.
·
Develop, implement and monitor
effective use of the departmental budget.
·
Any other responsibilities assigned
by the supervisor.
Qualifications
·
Master’s degree in Business related
studies, Communications or International Relations from an accredited
university.
·
Seven years experience in
fundraising, preferably in higher education settings
·
Demonstrated management experience of
at least five years in a multi-level and cross-cultural relations in an
international environment.
·
Member of the Kenya Association of
Fundraising Professionals or equivalent.

Job Purpose
Reporting

Communications will provide leadership in designing and implementing the
corporate communications and marketing strategy of the University.
Responsibilities
·
Develop and implement a strategic
marketing, student admissions, communications, Public Relations and digital
strategies in line with the overall University’s Strategic Plan.
·
Develop, implement and monitor
policies, plans, strategies, and outputs.
·
Continually build all aspects of the
University’s brand in collaboration with its stakeholders.
·
Ensure consistent articulation of the
University’s brand to internal and external stakeholders.
·
Design and implement effective
internal communication strategies to the University’s various constituencies.
·
Develop, implement and monitor
effective use of the departmental budget.
·
Provide guidance for university
functions to be executed in line with the University’s brand, policies, and
aspirations.
·
Manage the University’s marketing
efforts in liaison with Schools, Admissions, and other stakeholders.

Act as the University’s
representative with the media in negotiating and building relations with the
media.

Continuously monitor and report on
the University’s media coverage and brand positioning across multiple media
channels.

Develop a deep understanding of
client preferences and trends, based on market research, customer satisfaction
surveys, and focus groups.

Job Purpose
Reporting
to the Vice Chancellor, the successful candidate will provide exemplary
strategic leadership in the Administration Division.
Responsibilities
·
Oversee the Administration Division
that includes five departments: Human Resources, Security, Health facilities,
Operations, and Insurance.
·
Provide oversight for the
implementation of the University strategic plan into the strategic and
operational plans, policies and procedures of the Division.
·
Manage the development and
implementation, monitoring of the Divisional budgets.

Chief Accountant
Job Purpose
The
Chief Accountant is in-charge of all accounting activities and is responsible
for preparing financial and performance reports, assisting departments with
annual budgets and reviews, internal control and cash flow planning.
Responsibilities
·
Oversee the finance and accounting
department
·
Implement sound internal controls to
safeguard the university assets.
·
Manage all sections of the accounting
department by ensuring timely reporting and efficient delivery of service.
·
Prepare the department’s annual
budget.
·
Monitor implementation of the
university’s revenue collection and credit policies.
·
Monitor the student billing system
each semester for correctness.
·
Lead the annual audit by preparing
the final accounts and audit schedules, and ensuring tax compliance.
·
Lead other external audits e.g. tax
audits, NSSF audits etc.
·
Ensure integrity of all accounting
ledgers by regular analysis of the trial balance.
·
Assist in preparation of the annual
budget by ensuring timelines are adhered, to, departmental budgets are
correctly captured and budget forecasts are reasonable.
·
Liaise with students,
sponsors/guardian on payment plans
·
Review tuition refunds to ensure
correctness
·
Review supplier payments, cheques,
RTGS and EFT payments for approvals, USIU’s tax liability and correct
documentation.
·
Perform cash planning and ensure a
stable cash flow for the university
·
Review payrolls to ensure accuracy
and correct statutory remittances
·
Approve petty cash payments as per
the finance policy and ensuring the petty cash payments are accounted for.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in
Finance/Accounting/Business

CPA (K);
·
Relevant Master’s degree;
·
Must be a member, in good standing,
of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya ( ICPAK)
·
Proficiency in computer applications;
