have fallen through the net of humanitarian assistance, in particular women,
children and urban refugees.
The primary role of this position is
to support the outreach team towards effective community outreach and enhanced
community based protection.
The core responsibilities of this
position:
Technical support
·
Coordinate rapid assessments by
Community Navigators (CNs) to match program capacity; screen CN referrals to
determine if a full assessment is needed; highlight households for case
creation
·
Support planning of outreach
activities and participate in the same
·
Represent RefugePoint in interagency
and community meetings as requested by Supervisor
·
Participate in identification of
community support structures and link refugees to the same
·
Engage communities with respect to
age, gender and diversity to ensure that their contribution to program
development is always captured
·
Maintain a record of cases pending
initial comprehensive assessment and ensure that they are prioritised when
opportunities arise
·
In the absence of the Senior Officer
Community Outreach carry out tasks for overall coordination of community
outreach
·
Attend to walk in clients that the
front office would find prudent to refer
·
Participate in packaging community
sensitization messages
Documentation and reporting
·
Make accurate and timely updates on
client records in the database for all clients directly interacted with
·
Record feedback from CNs on specific
clients in the relevant sections of the database
·
Compile CNs updates of the local
environment and share with supervisor
·
Create new cases in the data base in
the absence of Associate- Programs
Staff Development Support
·
Support the Senior Officer Community
Outreach in ensuring CNs personal growth through training and development
·
In collaboration with Senior Officer
Community Outreach, develop an effective working relationship with each
Community Navigator, providing feedback on daily performance
·
Support the Senior Officer Community
Outreach in collecting community feedback on performance of the Navigators.
Attend to other duties as assigned by
the Supervisor
Requirements:
·
Degree in Community Development,
Community Health, Social Work or other related field. In lieu of a degree, a
Diploma in a related field and at least two years’ experience in community
outreach preferably in an urban setting
·
Demonstrated understanding of
community based approaches and diversity mainstreaming
·
Demonstrated experience managing
people and engaging communities
·
Excellent verbal and written
communication skills
·
Ability to interact effectively with
individuals, groups and agencies
Desired attributes:

Prior experience working with
refugees or migrants
·
Ability to work with people in a
multicultural setting
·
Ability to deal with conflict
situations

Main purpose of the position: The Senior Officer shall closely work with the case
managers to ensure clients receive holistic social work support. The position
shall support the Case Managers to jointly develop action plans tailored to
clients’ needs, ensure timely delivery of interventions and work with clients
towards self-reliance and graduation from services and assistance.
The core responsibilities of this position:
Social
Work Core Tasks:
·
Supervise and provide administrative
support to Social Workers;
·
Provide technical support to social
workers on case management;
·
Review client files and provide
feedback to case managers as part of coaching and ensuring quality of data is
maintained;
·
Prepare and submit requests for cases
referred for rent, emergency and NFI support;
·
Actively participate in training of
case managers and other staff members whose work impacts the case management
process;
·
Liaise with the Program Manager;
Social Work and Child Protection in planning and budgeting for social work
interventions;
·
Support Social Workers in preparing
and planning for visitors to the program.
Child
Protection Core Tasks:
·
Support with child protection case
management including reviews of Best Interest Assessment (BIA) and Best
Interest Determination (BID) reports;
·
Support monitoring of education
beneficiaries by conducting school visits; meeting the beneficiaries and
reviewing monitoring reports from the Education Officer. Keep track of high
level education indicators including retention and transition rates;
·
Participate in training communities
on community based child protection and in reviewing recommendations from
children’s forums;
Documentation
and Reporting
·
Actively participate in development
and review of case management guidelines and procedures;
·
Provide a monthly report for
dashboard indicators on rent, Non-Food Items (NFI) and emergency assistance.
Partnerships
·
Represent RefugePoint in social work
and child protection forums as assigned;
·
Be on the lookout for potential
social work and child protection partners and recommend the prospective ones.
Attend
to other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Required Qualifications
·
University Degree in social work,
education or a related social science technical field
·
At least three years’ experience in
social work or child protection programs
·
Knowledge of diverse case management
processes
·
Experience in supervising and
managing teams
·
Experience in conducting and
reviewing Best Interest Assessments and Best Interest Determination
·
Proven ability to organize and
conduct trainings
·
Ability to network with various
partners including donors and government
·
Experience working with communities
and vulnerable groups
·
Excellent written and oral
communication skills
