Job purpose
The
Technical Manager is responsible for the Technical and/or Engineering function
of the Company to ensure the core business is run in a professional way, attain
highest standards of operational efficiency and adherence to best practice and
other Engineering standards.
Responsibilities
·
Ensuring compliance with established
standards for planning, design, construction, and operation and maintenance of
water and waste water services facilities.
·
Ensuring achievement of key
performance indicators in line with the water sector benchmarks on water
coverage, sewerage coverage, water quality, metering ratio, Non-Revenue water,
collection efficiency and Operation and Maintenance Costs among others
·
Implementing technical standards of
the water service provider/company.
·
Evaluating performance of the company
on all the specified key performance indicators to ensure continuous
improvement.
·
Responsible for water conservation
and demand management for the water utility.
·
Ensuring that all materials, parts,
chemicals and others used in operations meets required safety and quality
standards so as not to compromise staff, customer or public health and safety.
·
Responsible for ensuring all
technical operations and projects are carried out in accordance with approved
budgets
·
Responsible for ensuring preservation
of water catchment areas.
·
Responsible for development of
framework for development, management and maintenance of a water distribution
system, sewer system in the company’ area of operation. Managing all water
produced and fed into the system to minimize wastage and losses and ensure as
much of all the water produced and fed into the distribution system is
accounted for.
·
Identify training needs for the
departmental staff. Mentor and coach departmental staff.
·
Develop departmental budget and work
plan.
·
Identify procurement needs of the
department.
·
Participate in strategic planning and
implementation.
·
Responsible for physical assets
assigned by the Company.
·
Makes strategic, operational and
technical decisions for the department. xvi. Plans the work of subordinates,
assigns work to subordinates, monitors subordinates work performance.
Appraises/evaluates subordinates performance.
·
Work closely with other
departments/sections in all areas.

Any other duties as may be assigned

Qualifications
·
Bachelor’s degree in Civil
Engineering, Water/Waste Water Engineering or relevant field from a recognized
institution.
·
Registered Engineer with the relevant
professional body and member in good standing.
·
At least 7 years’ experience with a
minimum of 3 years in a managerial or supervisory position.
·
Meets the requirements of chapter six
of the Constitution of Kenya 2010.

Job purpose
The
internal auditor is responsible for the internal audit function of the company
to provide continuous appraisal of the Company operations systems against
internal control systems, policies, procedures and manuals.
Responsibilities
·
Play a senior leadership role bringing
the internal community along to support the outputs delivered by developing
effective and strategic relationship.
·
Build a highly effective team, by
leading, managing and motivating staff and by directing and coaching them where
appropriate, so that they achieve excellence in delivery.
·
Take responsibility for the reports
emerging from the department and all documentation sent to the MD
·
Oversee departments budgeting,
monthly, quarterly and annual reporting, cash flow and debt management
·
Develop a flexible annual audit plan,
using an appropriate risk-based methodology and including any risks or control
concerns identified by management and submit that plan to the audit committee
to review and approval
·
Ensure the approved audit plan is
implemented including any special tasks or projects requested by the board
audit committee and MD.
·
Analyze any capacity deficiencies and
request resources to meet the requirements of the internal audit charter and
the audit plan
·
Issue periodic audit reports
summarizing results of audit activities
·
Keep the board audit committee and
the MD informed of emerging trends and changes in international standards on
the practice of internal auditing

Conduct investigation of suspected
fraudulent activities within the company and report the results appropriately

Liaise with the external auditors and

Job purpose
Reporting
to the Technical Manager NRW Officer is responsible for all NRW activities.
Responsibilities
·
Put up a comprehensive NRW unit
·
Schedule patrols of pipelines and
service lines at least one complete cycle per month to unearth illegal water
connections and concealed leaks and pipe bursts.
·
Ensure that all water meters in the
area are timely serviced and replaced (calibrating).
·
Schedule and carryout gauging of
routes to determine water loss. At least 3 routes per month should be gauged.
·
Maintenance of A.V’s, S.V’s, washouts
and tanks as per the work plan provided by the operations manager.
·
Supervise installation, servicing and
replacement of all meters.
·
Ensure that illegal water abstraction
do not occur and those that have occurred are rectified in a timely and
economical manner.
·
Supervise the disconnection of
customers who have defaulted in payment and prompt reconnection of customers on
payment of their bills.
·
Ensure that all cases of fraud, wrong
billing, guessed meter reading, illegal flat rate billing etc are reported to
Headquarter and dealt with promptly.
·

in easily accessible places to facilitate meter reading and also avoid
unnecessary cost of excavation.

Bsc in water engineering, civil
engineering with at least +3 years’ experience in the Water Service Provision
·
Experiences in Project Management,
NRW Management with commercial entities will be a definite advantage.

the daily operations of GWASCO. The position of procurement manager consists of

Responsibilities

Develop a yearly business plan for
Procurement based on operational guidelines and company goals, and review on an
ongoing basis;

Job purpose
Reporting
to the Managing Director, the ICT Manager will be responsible for Information,
Communication and Technology (ICT) in the organisation with the primary aim of
enhancing effectiveness and efficiency in the Company
Responsibilities
As
the Head of the key support department in the company the ICT Manager’s focus
will be in leading all our efficiency improvement initiatives in cooperation
with his/her colleagues and various development partners. In particular, he/she
will:

Plan, develop, coordinate and ensure
delivery of all our ICT needs including the policies, operational, manuals and
departmental budget
·
Prepare technical specifications for
procurement of hardware and software and liaise with vendors.
·
Manage all new installations,
upgrades, enhancements, administration and maintenance of the ICT
infrastructure and equipment, ensuring that the LAN, Telephone Systems and WAN
are operational

Project Management skills experience
and training is essential.
·
Experience with Database Management
Systems: Oracle and SQL Server platforms exposure is mandatory.
·
Demonstrable first experience with
