to lead One Acre Fund’s Internal Consulting Team by shaping strategy and
driving key initiatives.
We are seeking an exceptional and
results-oriented mid-career professional to lead One Acre Fund’s Strategy &
Research unit, better known as our Internal Consulting Team.
In the team lead, we are seeking a
leader who blends high-quality team performance management skills, with a
proven ability to drive strategic initiatives at the organizational level.
This role provides an opportunity for
a senior strategic leader to meaningfully help drive the strategy of a $100M
and growing social impact organization. Since its inception at One Acre Fund in
2012, the Internal Consulting Team has emerged as a primary nexus through which
many organizational initiatives pass.
The team takes on a broad range of
projects that would be typical to a management consultancy, including
high-level strategy and research, internal change management, flexible
resourcing for other One Acre Fund teams, and executive communications. The key
difference is in the opportunity to deeply embed within a fast-paced
organization, influencing decisions and also implementation, as opposed to
stopping at recommendations.

Key responsibilities include:

Lead our Internal Consulting Team.
This is a 15-person internal consulting unit, consisting of the Director, two
managers, five analysts, four junior analysts, and two rotational staff; all of
whom conduct strategic, change management, and operational projects on behalf
of other One Acre Fund units across our countries of operation.

Lead all aspects of team development
including hiring, staff capacity development, direct management of the middle
management layer, budget, and organizational chart
·
Lead project identification,
selection, assignment, and resourcing
·
Set team strategy and vision for the
future
·
Serve as the primary link between the
Internal Consulting Team and One Acre Fund’s leadership group
·
Drive key strategic and change
management initiatives on behalf of One Acre Fund as a lead consultant and
project manager (equivalent of a consulting firm engagement manager). Recent
initiatives taken on by the Internal Consulting Team include:
·
Strategic planning: 5-year planning
exercise – One Acre Fund is in the midst of a 5-year planning exercise in all
major program units. The Internal Consulting Team is coordinating this process
and providing strategic guidance around expansion, risk mitigation, and key
business drivers to country programs.
·
New initiative: Set-up of a Direct
Giving pilot – Internal Consulting Team members, led by the Director, assisted
in the 18-month set-up of One Acre Fund’s Direct Giving pilot, including
initial research, project design, and thought partnership with One Acre Fund’s
CEO.
·
Internal change management: The
Director is co-leading a revamp to One Acre Fund’s performance management
strategy, including a deeper focus on managerial capacity and training, hiring,
and org chart management. This work has involved heavy collaboration with the
organization’s People Director.
·
Serve as a thought partner and
business advisor to key One Acre Fund leaders, including:
1. CEO – Serve as the key research desk for the CEO and respond to
executive requests for communications support, research on possible
initiatives, etc.
2. CFO, People Division Director, etc. – Support C-suite executives
with decision-making, for example by leveraging the Internal Consulting Team as
a resource to assist in budgeting, resourcing decisions, and change management.
3. Country Directors – Build relationships with our country
leadership to ensure that they receive superior analytical and strategic
support from the Internal Consulting Team. Cultivate operational leaders and
drive value for them as internal clients.

Job Description
We
are looking for a driven, strategic problem-solvers dedicated to social impact
to join our Rwanda strategy team. The Strategy and Operations Analyst will work
on short-term projects across multiple functions to rapidly solve complex
strategic, financial and operational problems.
This
is a full-time career-track role within One Acre Fund Rwanda’s Strategy team.
The role therefore includes exposure to high level strategy, working in a
variety of departments and functions, and getting into the field. No day is
ever the same, and a great candidate will be able to take on new projects
quickly whilst handling ad-hoc requests (e.g. research) from the country
director.
Analysts
take full ownership of projects, from planning through execution and follow-up.
They manage anywhere from 2-5 projects at any given time, are typically
responsible for at least one other team-specific initiative, and are expected
to be able to tackle any type of project – from quantitative modeling to
primary research – with a relentless focus on solving the problem at hand. The
Analyst may be asked to take on direct management responsibilities to help our
team grow into exceptional Analysts.

Identifying opportunities for 20%
savings in our large distribution network costs, through market research and
modeling of truck costs and margins in the industry, to understand where we
could reduce our costs.
·
Building a ‘social return on investment’
model for teams that conduct trials to ensure the trial is a worthwhile
investment, taking in to account its potential impact to farmers and cost if we
scaled the trial country-wide.
·
Identifying opportunities in the
market to sell more solar lights, and working with each team to ensure
cross-channel collaboration to optimize solar light sales.
·
Working with our field operations
team to create tools to measure performance and ensure incentives (sales,
repayment etc) for field staff are optimal to drive results.

Job Description: The Local Government Relations Officer (LGO) will be responsible
for building effective relations with government officials at the County level
and below. General roles include participating in stakeholder meetings,
producing and sharing quarterly reports, tracking concerns and supporting
resolutions to problems.
He/she
will also play an active role in coordinating our participation in internal and
external field events which include input delivery visits, harvest visits and
exhibition days among others.
The Local Government Relations Officer’s responsibilities will
include:

Build and manage relationships with
government officials at the County level and below through courtesy calls and
other meetings.
·
Act as a focal point between One Acre
Fund departments and government officials in Western, Rift Valley or Nyanza
regions.
·
Coordinate regulatory approvals,
operational licenses and permits with government regulators.
·
Track and participate in the
resolution of risks and issues affecting field-facing operations.
·
Coordinate One Acre Fund’s
involvement in agriculture shows and agricultural sector functions.
·
Plan and execute on logistics for
events that the Government Relations department holds in the field with local
and national government officials as well as politicians.
·
Prepare quarterly reports, and
develop trainings relevant to the department.
·
Review county strategies and
policies, and advise One Acre Fund departments on next steps.
·
Any other duties as assigned by the
Government Relations Specialist or departmental leadership.

Product
Warranty Processing
·
Receive and Quality Check all product
warranty requests to ensure the product is eligible for repair or replacement.

Process all valid product warranty
requests, fill database, and send to the Headquarter office for processing.
·
Follow-up with Product Team and track
incoming products to return to Field Officers.
·
Follow-up with members to ensure
Field Officers delivered repaired products.
Funeral
Insurance Processing
·
Review all incoming Funeral Insurance
claim forms and refund requests to ensure the client is registered and all
required information has been submitted to stakeholders.
·
Process all claims in the FIRST
Database and submit all required information to Finance for processing.
·
Support in Funeral Insurance Claims
follow-up in collaboration with Business Operations Team and support to Field
staff on filling forms.
Logistics:
·
Organize for Staff and Products Kits
delivery and return as needed.
·
Receive inventory and materials at
Monday Meetings, signing off on amounts and distributing to field staff as
appropriate.
·
Submitting documentation of receipt
of goods back to the logistics team.
·
Quality Check and oversee return of
IDS on all non-ID items to ensure compliance and report violations to HR Office
Administrator.
Field
Office:
·
General organization of the
district/hub office and maintaining supplies of stationary and equipment.
·
Maintain and manage district property
and inventories.
·
Liaise with IT department to ensure
functioning of all IT equipment in district/regional offices.
