Coordinator

CHS is currently sourcing for a high calibre, self-motivated and dynamic individual to fill the position of VMMC – QA/QC COORDINATOR
Overall Job Function

Reporting to the VMMC Technical Advisor, the VMMC QA/QC Coordinator will ensure efficient management and coordination of the quality assurance, control and quality improvement of VMMC activities in line with the WHO standards to ensure achievement of quality surgical outcomes and client safety at CHS-supported facilities and allied venues as specified in the National guidelines (Static, Mobile and Outreach models)within the County.  He/she will also be responsible for coordination of VMMC trainings and mentorship alongside the county VMMC Calendar in accordance to the planned long-term VMMC sustainability plan.
Responsibilities
·         Continuously implement and monitor program quality assurance and control activities to ensure compliance to ensure National guidelines and SOPs are available at the sites and routinely monitors compliance by the surgical teams through a shared monthly schedule.
·         Develop, review and ensure compliance to the internal QA/QC tools and checklist.
·         In liaison with the TA, prepare and operationalise surgical staff training needs assessment.
·         Plan and conduct relevant surgical trainings and mentorship to the MOH clinical staff according to the national and county training requirements.
·         Continuously verify quality of all VMMC consumables and equipment and ensure timely servicing to maintain quality and effectiveness.
·         Support on sight coaching on inventory management of VMMC commodities, emergency preparedness and the WHO VMMC minimum package of services.
·         Work closely with the Program and Sub County staffs to enhance compliance to injection safety and health care waste management.
·         Continuously evaluate the CME and surgical mentorship schedules activities for the program and play a lead role in capacity building activities such as didactic trainings, CMEs and CSMs to CHS Program Officers and Ministry of Health (MoH) staff in supported facilities.
·         Evaluate sub county VMMC steering committee meetings, county QA meetings and quarterly VMMC sites supervisions.
·         Continuously develop and review system to eliminate adverse events.
·         Represent the program in all VMMC QA meetings related to the program within the County and other areas of coverage
·         Preventing, managing and documentation of AES review and ensure compliance to the internal QA/QC tools and checklist
·         Coordinate and schedule on sight quantification, forecasting and monitoring usage of VMMC commodities and supplies through strengthening usage of VMMC commodities and supplies monitoring tools.
·         Prepare quarterly VMMC activity reports, work plans
·         Work closely with the VMMC TA, the Program and Sub County staffs to document and disseminate best practices and lesson learnt
·         Any other duty assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications
·         Degree in Clinical Medicine or Nursing.
·         Masters of Public Health is desirable.
·         VMMC Trainer of Trainees (TOT) in VMMC, EIMC, Devices
·         Trained and certified as a Service provider in all MC areas.
·         At least 5 years experience in VMMC and at least 2 years in VMMC coordination, QA/Mentorship and trainings.

Clinical Officer (17 Posts)
Overall Function
The Clinical Officer is responsible for providing HIV/TB and related treatment service at supported sites as a member of the clinical team. The Clinical Officer will ensure that optimal standard of care is achieved in line with National guidelines, client satisfaction and good clinical outcomes.
Responsibilities
·         Management and coordination of HIV/TB Clinic activities
·         Assist and work together to support all the CCC activities with the clinical officer and other team members.
·         Ensure proper patient management of HIV/TB is done in line with National guidelines
·         Provide adherence counseling and implementation of clinical aspects of Positive Health Dignity and Prevention program (PHDP) to clients attending the clinic
·         Ensure that the optimal standard of care is achieved by establishing and maintaining the use of nationally approved clinical guidelines and protocols and with the help of the care manager, updating ones’ knowledge of HIV/AIDs management using evidence-based practice
·         Counsel clients on compliance to treatment
·         Provide information, education and communication to clients and their families in the clinic through support groups, health talks and educational materials
·         Ensure the maintenance of patient confidentiality.
·         Ensure integration of HIV services in OPD, MCH, inpatient and other outpatient clinics.
·         Participate in weekly multidisciplinary team meetings (MDTs) to discuss complicated cases.
·         Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives to improve service delivery and patient level outcomes
·         Participate and contribute to capacity building of clinical and other staff through CMEs, mentorship, sensitization and updates
·         Mentor and supervise other health care professionals to assist in provision of HIV care.
·         Ensure complete documentation in various HIV care related tools as recommended
·         Provide regular feedback to care staff/ facility management on work related concerns

Qualifications
For appointment to the post of Clinical Officer, a candidate must;
·         Have a Basic Diploma in Clinical Medicine & Surgery from Kenya Medical Training College or any recognizes institution
·         Have a valid License from the Clinical Officers Council of Kenya
·         At least 2 years’ work experience in busy Comprehensive Care Clinic (CCC) or MCH
·         Experience working with MOH/County systems and personnel will be an added advantage
·         Experience working in PEPFAR funded projects is an added advantage
·         Should be self-motivated

Lab Technologist (3 Posts)
Overall Function
The Laboratory Technologists responsible for coordinating laboratory activities required for HIV/AIDS prevention, care and treatment services
Responsibilities
·         Perform laboratory activities required for HIV/AIDS prevention, care and treatment programs, including baseline and follow up laboratory investigations are carried out.
·         Conduct laboratory testing procedures as per the required SOPs
·         Correlate clinical information and/or previous lab results and report discrepancies to supervisors and other appropriate personnel.
·         Collect and direct the collection of specimens with rigid attention to proper patient identification, priority status and hospital and laboratory and laboratory safety and infection control policies for clinical testing
·         Interpret test results and documents appropriately
·         Write and update laboratory procedures as required.
·         Set up, clean and maintain laboratory equipment, including carrying out daily temperature checks
·         Develop, standardise, evaluate, and modify procedures, techniques and tests used in the analysis of specimens and in medical laboratory experiments.
·         Preserve and protect patient and client confidentiality in all situations and with all documentation.
·         Follow protocol for running and documenting control values
·         Collect, evaluate, and report quality management data in order to monitor and improve laboratory performance.
·         Do reagent quantification, forecasting and timely reporting

Qualifications

Health Records & Information Officer
Overall  Function
The HRIO is responsible for providing support to the health facilities in medical documentation, data management, data analysis and reporting
Responsibilities
Documentation and reporting
·         Ensure availability of necessary data collection and reporting tools at the facility. This will include patient cards/files, registers, reporting tools, databases
·         Maintain data security and confidentiality
·         Guide the facility staff on effective data management especially on correct and complete documentation
·         Ensure all required data summaries and facility reports are complete, accurate and timely
·         Reporting for the facilities through DHIS
·         Participate in data collection for program monitoring and research
Data quality audits
·         Review data prior to submission to DHRIO/ uploading into DHIS
·         Scheduling and participating in facility data quality audits
·         Cleaning EMR and DHIS data
Computerisation

·         Ensure the facility EMR is up-to-date
·         Perform regular back-up of EMRs
Data utilisation
·         Assist in compilation of ad-hoc or systematic data analysis, and share with the facility staff during MDT meetings
·         Support innovative ways of data presentation to ensure maximum and timely utilisation
Qualifications
For appointment to the post of HRIO, a candidate must:
·         Be in possession of at least a certificate in Health Records and Information from a recognised medical training college. A diploma in Health records will have added advantage.
·         Work experience as a HRIO in a health setting
·         Work experience with EMRs in a health setting is an added advantage

Social Worker
Overall Function
The Social Worker will offer support in the planning, implementation and evaluation of adherence support activities required for HIV prevention, care and treatment services in the respective health facilities.
Responsibilities
·         Support in the planning, initiation and implementation of the CHS Adherence Psychosocial Support minimum package at the respective health facilities.  This is to be implemented in the CCC, PMTCT and TB clinics.
·         Support the coordination of psychosocial support activities targeting the adults, adolescents, paediatrics, PMTCT mothers and discordant couples.
·         Support planning, implementation and evaluation of defaulter identification and tracking systems at the respective health facilities in the respective health facilities using the already approved tools.
·         Support the CCC in Charge in mentoring the Peer Educators and mentor mothers in Adherence Psychosocial support and Community activities.
·         Participate in activities that lead to strengthened linkages between the health facility and the community.
·         Support planning, implementation and evaluation of Positive Health Dignity and Prevention (PHDP) activities at the health facility.
·         Identify, document and share key lessons and practices learnt on adherence and psychosocial support from health facilities and the community
·         Participate in community mobilization activities
·         Participate in home visits and home based care activities
·         Support counselling of the clients admitted in the wards
·         Ensure there is a functional intra and inter facility and community referrals
·         To support the CCC in charges in integrating WASH activities in HIV programming
·         Any other duty assigned.
Qualifications

Pharmaceutical Technologist
Overall Function
The Pharmaceutical Technologist is responsible for the management of the pharmacy and related equipment, making sure that all required drugs are available and issued in the correct doses/ courses to the patients.
Responsibilities
·         Ensure complete documentation of all pharmacy records and reporting tools
·         Verify prescriptions for accuracy and suitability to ensure rational dispensation and prescribing
·         Complete the expiry chart accurately and in timely manner for proper monitoring of drugs
·         Participate in implementing national clinical guidelines on drugs use and pharmacy standard operating procedures
·         Provide comprehensive and accurate drug information to patients and health care workers
·         Implement procedures and guidelines on forecasting, quantification, storage, commodity management and inventory management in line with required standards
·         Maintain accurately the pharmacy data base keeping up to date.
·         Ensure that the pharmacy SOPs are well utilized
·         Work with the comprehensive care team to observe and comply with environmental and occupational safety measures and regulations
·         Participate in implementation of quality control and quality assurance program with the comprehensive care team
·         Assist in identifying and reporting on suspected adverse drug reactions and poor-quality products to PPB

Technical Advisor
Overall Job Function
Reporting to the Program Director, the individual will be responsible for providing technical support in the implementation of clinical care in paediatric HIV prevention, care and treatment activities in coordination with the Ministry of Health (MoH) and CHS staff, especially in adolescent and paediatric HIV care including care for HIV exposed infants and paediatric TB, under the SHINDA Project.
Responsibilities
·         Provide technical support in the development and implementation of work plans
·         Provide technical support in the design and implementation of paediatric and adolescent HIV programs
·         Provide technical support to a team of implementing officers in CHS and to MOH staff including training and mentorship
·         Capacity building of clinical team on paediatric matters through CMEs, mentorship and dissemination of new knowledge
·         Liaising with Ministry of Health officials and other stakeholders in the implementation of the program in line with Ministry of Health guidelines and priorities
·         Take part in drafting CHS quarterly and annual reports and other written materials such as lessons learned, case studies and other materials as required
·         Development of job aids, tools and materials as needed including CMEs for use at facility level to support health care workers to provide paediatric HIV services
·         Assisting in program monitoring and evaluation and use of data to inform program planning and continuous improvement as well as research as needed
·         Represent CHS in various forums including technical working groups
·         Any other duties assigned by the Program Director
Qualifications
·         Medical degree and a master’s degree in paediatrics and child health
·         MPH is an added advantage
·         Minimum of three years working experience in development programs with significant TA experience in public health programs; HIV/AIDS program experience preferred
·         Working experience in donor funded public health program is an added advantage
·         Sensitivity to cultural differences and understanding of the political and ethical issues surrounding HIV infection
·         Ability to work well with others and to develop and maintain relationships with project staff, donors, sub-contractors and other partners
·         Ability to identify problems, design interventions and oversee their implementation
·         Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills in both English and Kiswahili.
