Team Leader

Purpose
This position is responsible for achieving business growth by meeting new business targets. This involves managing and developing the business development team with the aim of enforcing effective credit control, delivery of set loss ratio and building and maintaining customer relationships.
Responsibilities

·         Analysing the risk presented through proposal forms/risk notes and issuing quotations and accepting business inline within the set criteria;
·         Checking policy documents, endorsements and agreements with service providers and approving membership certificates or other official documents in line with the company’s underwriting manual;
·         Identifying and referring insurance risks that require reinsurance arrangements ;
·         Addressing enquiries and feedback from clients within the timelines stipulated in the service charter and/or SLAs signed with respective clients;
·         Observing strict adherence to cash and carry rule and/or company credit control policy and escalating exceptions;
·         Addressing reconciliation issues in liaison with the finance department;
·         Responding to internal and external audit queries and implementation of recommendations;
·         Allocating incoming mails amongst team members and ensuring they are worked on within the agreed turnaround times;
·         Complying with statutory, regulatory and internal control processes at the business units including internal and external audit recommendations;
·         Developing departmental budget and business plans to achieve the set company targets;
·         Entrenching performance based appraisal of departmental staff in line with their set KPIs and departmental targets;
·         Developing and maintaining relationships with intermediaries and clients through regular contact and visitations to ensure customer satisfaction, retention and business growth
·         Participating in company CSR and brand building activities in liaison with other departments;
·         Training, coaching and mentoring staff in order to improve performance and cohesion within the department;
·         Implementing interdepartmental SLA in liaison with other departmental heads;
·         Participating in management meetings, projects and committees as assigned.
 Qualifications
·         Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science or an equivalent.
Professional Qualifications
·         ACII/ Diploma in Insurance

Assistant Business Developer
Purpose
This position is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the liaison office.
Responsibilities
·         Vetting and processing data on proposal forms in the system within the stipulated Turn Around Time;
·         Receiving and responding to customer queries as per the customer service charter;
·         Processing and coding new financial advisors’ application forms in the system and recording their productivity including receipting of the premium;
·         Facilitating the delivery of policy documents and receipts to the clients on time, as well as banking the receipted payments;
·         Preparing quotations in response to customers and agents request for policies as requested by the liaison office underwriter or unit manager;
·         Requisition and distributing stationary (marketing materials) as well as providing other administrative support to the sales team;
·         Registering and forwarding claims together with necessary documentation and following up on settlements;
·         Raising debit and credit notes as assigned
·         Reconciling service provider statements and confirming the status to finance for payments;
·         Preparing the document status report;
·         Conduct intermediary visitations, attend to and/or escalate their service issues
·         Monitor and issue renewal notices and follow up on cover confirmations from assigned channels
·         Issue motor certificates, yellow cards, certificate declaration returns and ensure prompt debiting
·         Follow up on renewal notices for individual clients and Direct Parastatal corporations
Qualifications
·         Bachelor’s degree in Insurance, Actuarial Science or any Business related degree.
·         Diploma in insurance is an added advantage

Senior Business Developer
Job Purpose

·         Sending renewal notices to clients and advise on changes in policy if any;
·         Complying with statutory, regulatory and internal control processes at the business units;
·         Responsible for timely renewal invitations as per the SLA;
·         Developing departmental budget and business plans to achieve the set company targets;
·         Participating in company CSR and brand building activities in liaison with other departments;
·         Training, coaching and mentoring staff in order to improve performance and cohesion within the department;
·         Implementing interdepartmental SLA in liaison with other departmental heads;
·         Participating in departmental meetings, projects and committees as assigned.

Legal Officer
Purpose
To ensure effective and efficient management of the Legal department, provision of legal advisory services and ensuring effective management of legal and contractual risks.
Responsibilities
·         Receive demand letters, summons and statutory notices on behalf of the company advice and action on the best way forward in liaison with Claims department.
·         Appoint external advocates to defend frivolous claims in court immediately the company is served with summons.
·         Assess genuine claims that can be settled out of court upon receipt of demand letters, and initiate negotiations with third party advocates to save the company on costs.
·         Provide a legal opinion on all matters filed in court or being negotiated out of court.
·         Liaise with brokers or directly with insured persons to ensure that external advocates have all the required supporting documents to defend the company.
·         Upon analysis of a claim, Issue appropriate instructions to external Advocates to ensure expedient settlement of claims.
·         Assessment of Advocates fee notes to ensure that they are in line with the provisions of the Advocates Remuneration Order.
·         To check and confirm if a claim is statutorily time barred under tort or contract before accepting service of summons.
·         Review of all outstanding claims on a semi-annual basis.
·         Ensure recoveries are pursued aggressively against negligent third parties and liaise with lawyers in the panel on matters that are in court.
·         Manage external lawyers on a day to day basis and ensure that the cases in court are handled in the best interests of the company.
·         Review all contracts and any other documentation where the company has committed itself and assess legal implications that need to be brought to the management’s attention.
·         Prepare, review, negotiate and modify contractual instruments to assist and support various business activities.
Qualifications
·         A Bachelor’s Degree in Law.
·         Post graduate diploma from the Kenya School of Law.
·         Admission as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya.
Work Experience
·         At least 4 years relevant experience in the Insurance industry.

·         Have own initiative and use the corporate claims philosophy effectively
·         Have the experience to know when it’s best to deal with a matter on a compromise basis or when a defense is more likely to be successful
·         Ability to make decisions quickly and confidently.
·         Good working knowledge of MS Office applications (Ms Excel, Word, Power-point, Outlook)
·         In depth knowledge of internal systems (Turn-quest)
·         Team player with high customer awareness skills
