Resource Centre Internship

The Capital Markets Authority is a statutory agency charged with the responsibility of regulating and developing an efficient capital market in Kenya. The Authority invites applications for the following position:
Internship Period: 3 months (non-renewable)
Reporting to the Senior Officer Knowledge Management.

Responsibilities
·         Assisting with administrative tasks in the ongoing resource Centre portal by scanning, collating content for uploading to the portal.
·         Assisting with editorial review of the Resource Centre brochure and other publicity materials.
·         Assisting the Resource Centre in stock taking and updating of various records maintained in the Resource Centre.
·         Assisting in Knowledge management initiatives.
·         Assisting in the indexing and updating of periodical records held in the Resource Centre.
·         Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications
·         Bachelor’s degree in Library and Information Science/ Information Science/ Knowledge Management or related studies.
·         Basic IT and knowledge of automated Library systems will be an added advantage.
Skills and Competencies
·         Sound understanding of Libraries and their operations
·         Some experience in automated library systems
·         Good report writing skills
·         Excellent communication and interpersonal skill
·         Ability to complete assignments within set timelines
·         Ability to undertake multiple assignments
·         Team player
·         Knowledge Management

Licensing & Approvals Internship

The Capital Markets Authority is a statutory agency charged with the responsibility of regulating and developing an efficient capital market in Kenya. The Authority invites applications for the following position:

Responsibilities
·         Conducting fit and proper assessments for key personnel of market intermediaries
·         Carrying out preliminary review of applications for the issue of Debt and Equity securities such as corporate bonds
·         Carrying out preliminary review of license applications
·         Conducting research and preparing legal briefs and opinions
·         Providing logistical support to the licensing and approvals section
·         Undertake other assignments as assigned from time to time
Qualifications
·         Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B), Kenya School of Law student.
·         Good communication skills and teamwork;
·         Proficiency in standard office IT application packages as well as e-mail and internet

Investigations Assistant

The Capital Markets Authority is a statutory agency charged with the responsibility of regulating and developing an efficient capital market in Kenya. The Authority invites applications for the following position:
Contract Period: Six Months Fixed Term Contract
Reporting to the Assistant Manager Investigations.
Responsibilities
·         Complaints management including receiving, recording and drafting both acknowledgment and close out letters to clients.
·         Engaging with clients, market intermediaries and stakeholders on the alleged contraventions of the capital markets legal and regulatory framework.
·         Conducting investigations in liaison with the Capital Markets Fraud Investigations unit.
·         Preparing legal briefs and opinions.
·         Assisting in the preparation of internal monthly reports and quarterly reports to the Commission on Administrative Justice.
·         Drafting of policy guidelines on investigations and reviewing the current legal and regulatory framework.
·         Assisting in undertaking investigations as part of fit and proper assessments.
·         Attending Capital Markets Tribunal proceedings and preparing briefs on the hearing.
·         Undertake other assignments as assigned from time to time
Qualifications
·         Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL. B) or completion of the Advocate Training Program at the Kenya School of Law; OR
·         Bachelor’s degree in Criminology or Accounting
·         Minimum of one year relevant experience
Skills and Competencies

Legal Assistant

The Capital Markets Authority is a statutory agency charged with the responsibility of regulating and developing an efficient capital market in Kenya. The Authority invites applications for the following position:
Contract Period: Six Months Fixed Term Contract
Reporting to the Assistant Manager, Licensing and Approvals.
Responsibilities
·         Review applications for licensing and license renewals for market institutions and intermediaries.
·         Review prospectuses to ensure that the information to the public is accurate and complete and provides full disclosure of material facts.
·         Review applications for approval of equity and debt instruments and for the registration of Collective Investment Schemes
·         Review notices, announcements and advertisements by market intermediaries and listed companies and make recommendations of the suitability for publication.
·         Liaise with the Market Supervision Department to carry out due diligence with regard to the appointment of proposed directors and key personnel of market intermediaries.
·         Update and maintain the Contact Details and Movement of Key Personnel Database on a regular basis.
·         Undertake any other responsibilities assigned
Qualifications
·         Bachelor’s degree in law
·         Minimum of one year of relevant experience

·         Display honesty, transparency and integrity in all dealings

·         Demonstrate good communication skills and teamwork
