Assistant Agricultural Officer III, Job Group ‘H’ (15 Posts)

This is an entry and training grade for Diploma holders. An officer at this level will be deployed in a Division or in an Agricultural Training Centre and will work under the guidance of a senior officer.

·         Training and advising farmers on matters related to crop production.

Qualifications
For appointment to this grade, an officer must:-

Agricultural Engineer II
Job Group ‘K’ (2 POSTS)
This is the entry and training grade for degree holders. An officer at this level will be deployed in a project area in the county or sub-county and will work under the guidance of a senior officer.
Responsibilities
·         Implementing engineering activities;
·         Implementing programmes in soil and water conservation, mechanization extension and agro processing;
·         Any other lawful duties that may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications
For appointment to this grade one must,
·         Be a Kenyan Citizen;
·         Have a Bachelor’s Degree in a field of Agricultural Engineering such as Soil and Water, Mechanization/Farm Power, Structures or any other relevant and equivalent qualification from a recognized University.
·         Certificate in Computer Applications from a recognized institution.

Engineer- II (Irrigation)
Group ‘K’ (5 POSTS)
This is the entry and training grade for Diploma holders. An officer at this level will be deployed to irrigation projects under the supervision of Sub-County Irrigation Officer

Veterinary Officer
Job Group ‘L’ (5 POSTS)
This is the entry and training grade into this cadre. An officer at this level will work under the guidance of a senior officer.
Responsibilities
·         Undertaking disease control activities such as disease search, vaccination and enforcement of livestock movement regulations;
·         Participating in the training of stakeholders in vector control programmes;
·         Treating sick animals;
·         Advising on good veterinary practices;
·         Collecting’ data and preparing reports on animal health, products and markets;
·         Providing advice on animal breeding and welfare;
·         Undertaking post-mortem examination and other diagnostic tests; and
·         Any other lawful duties that may be assigned from time to time
Qualifications
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must:-

·         Have a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine (BVM) Degree from a recognized University;

Assistant Animal Health Officer II
Job Group ‘H’ (2 POSTS)
This is the entry and training grade for Diploma holders. An officer at this level will work under the guidance of a senior officer.
Responsibilities
·         Participating in animal health field demonstrations and agricultural shows;
·         Participating in sample collection and dispatch;
·         Inspecting livestock stock routes;
·         Collecting data and writing technical reports;
·         Demonstrating and training on milking techniques and external parasite’ control techniques such as dipping, spraying and dusting;
·         Carrying out vaccination, closed castration, dehorning, ear tagging, branding, deworming, disbudding, docking, debeaking and hoof trimming;
·         Carrying out simple treatment of animals;
·         Participating in disease search and reporting;
·         Keeping records on animal breeding, animal health, milk production, dipping data;
·         Maintaining dairy units; and
·         Any other lawful duties that may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications
For appointment to this grade an officer must:-
·         Be a Kenyan Citizen;
·         Have a Diploma in any of the following disciplines.- Animal Health, Animal Health and Production, Environmental Health, Clinical Pathology and Laboratory Diagnosis, Poultry Science, Veterinary Public Health and Meat Technology or Animal Husbandry from a recognized institution;
·         Be registered by the Kenya Veterinary Board;
·         Have a Certificate in Computer Applications from a recognized institution;

Animal Health Assistant II
Job Group ‘G’ (11 POSTS)
This is entry and training grade for certificate holders. An officer at this level will work under the guidance of a senior officer.
Responsibilities
·         Carrying out simple treatment of animals;
·         Participating in disease search and reporting;
·         Demonstrating on milking techniques and external parasite control techniques such as dipping, spraying and dusting;
·         Carrying out vaccination;
·         Undertaking closed castration, dehorning, de-worming, disbudding, docking, debeaking and hoof trimming; and
·         Any other lawful duties that may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must:-
·         Be a Kenyan Citizen;
·         Have a Certificate lasting not less than two (2) years in any of the following disciplines: Animal Health or Animal Health and Production from a recognized institution;
·         Be registered by the Kenya Veterinary Board;
·         Have a Certificate in Computer Applications from a recognized institution.
·         Meet the requirements of Articles 10, 232 and Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010.

Laboratory Technologist III
Job Group ‘H’ (2 POSTS)
This is the entry and training grade for Diploma holder. An officer at this level will work under the supervision and guidance of a senior officer.
Responsibilities
·         Preparing media, standardizing laboratory procedures and reagents;
·         Receiving, recording, packaging, dispatching, analyzing and preserving test samples;
·         Caring for laboratory animals;
·         Undertaking disease surveillance activities;
·         Performing vaccine, feed animal products and by products quality assurance tests; and
·         Any other lawful duties that may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must:

·         Have a Diploma in any of the following fields:- Applied Animal Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Technology or Biotechnology from a recognized institution;

Leather Development Officer
Job Group ‘K’ (1 POST)
This is the entry and training grade for degree holders. An officer at this level will work under the guidance of a senior officer.
Responsibilities
·         Monitoring the production trends of leather and leather and leather Products;
·         Undertaking relevant training and demonstrations on best practices to stake holders for production of high quality hides, skin; leather products;
·         Collecting and Collating data on hides and skins;
·         Undertaking hides and skins and leather projects activities;

·         Undertaking inspection of curing premises and stores for issuance of registration of premises disposal from tanneries and hides and skins curing premises; and
·         Any other lawful duties that may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications
For appointment at this grade, a one must:-
·         Be a Kenyan Citizen;
·         Have Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following fields:- Leather Technology, Footwear Technology, Materials Technology (Leather) or Leather Goods Design and Development from a recognized institution;
OR
·         Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science or Animal Science from a recognized University with a basic two year certificate or Diploma or at least one year post graduate training in Hides and Skins or Leather Technology from a recognized institution;
·         Have a Certificate in Computer Applications from a recognized institution.
·         Meet the requirements of Articles 10, 232 and Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010.

Livestock Production Officer
Job Group ‘K’ (6 POSTS)
This is the entry and training grade for Degree holders. An officer at this level will work under the guidance of a senior officer.
Responsibilities
·         Preparing livestock technical information;
·         Providing technical advice in animal production, livestock marketing, apiculture;
·         Promoting economic livestock farming;
·         Participating in organizing extension activities which include field days, agricultural shows, field demonstrations, farmer field schools and farm visits;
·         Participating in collaborative research activities;
·         Collecting livestock inputs and products samples for analysis;
·         Disseminating livestock production technologies such as construction of Livestock housing and structures, milk production, pasture and fodder production and conservation, farm planning, gross margin analysis, on-farm feed formulation;
·         Implementing livestock production programmes/projects in such areas as dairy cattle farming, sheep, goats, pigs, poultry, rabbits, mating programmes, fodder production and conservation, value addition to livestock products, apiculture, emerging Livestock Programmes and other animal husbandry practices;
·         Capturing, maintaining and storing livestock data.
·         Any other lawful duties that may be assigned from time to time.

·         Analyzing fisheries data and preparing reports;
·         Assisting in Monitoring, Control and Surveillance (MCS) of the fisheries resources;
·         Undertaking fisheries extension activities;
·         Maintaining of ponds at fish farms and hatcheries; inspecting fish and fish handling facilities at fish landing sites, markets and farms;
·         Assisting in fish marketing and value addition; and

This is the entry and training grade for Diploma holders. An officer at this level will work under the guidance of a senior officer.
Responsibilities
·         Providing fisheries extension services; collecting and compiling fisheries statistical data; marinating fish farms and hatcheries;
·         Participating in ensuring hygienic fish handling at fish landing sites, markets and farms; participating in Monitoring, Control and Surveillance (MCS) of fisheries resources and elementary water examination for signs of pollution;
·         Assisting in the production and selection of fish seed and stocking, feeding and harvesting of fish ponds; and
·         Any other lawful duties that may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications

·         Have a Diploma in either Fisheries Management, Natural Resource Management or equivalent and relevant qualification from a recognized institution;
