Senior Nursing Officer

Job Group (‘L’)
Qualifications
·         Served for a minimum period of two (2) years in the grade of Nursing Officer, Job Group ‘K’;

·         A Bachelor’s degree in either Nursing or Midwifery from a university recognized in Kenya;
·         A registration certificate issued by the Nursing Council of Kenya;
·         A valid practicing License from the Nursing Council of Kenya; and
·         Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
Responsibilities
·         Formulating, planning and implementing evidence-based nursing care for client/patient;
·         Providing holistic care by carrying out risk identification and assessment of an individual throughout the lifespan;
·         Conducting occupational health needs assessment, planning, implementing, evaluating, making recommendations and preparing periodic reports;
·         Conducting desk review, collecting data and implementing recommendations of the findings for improvement of nursing care.
·         Conducting a community health risk assessment and providing outcome based interventions;
·         Facilitating patients’ admission and initiating discharge plans;
·         Following up convalescing patients referred from higher facilities for continuity of care; and
·         Conducting assessment of school health needs, plan, implement interventions, and preparing periodic reports.

Senior Enrolled Nurse II
Two (2) Posts

Basic Salary Scale: Ksh. 35,400– Ksh. 46,230 p.m. (Job Group (‘K’)
Qualifications
·         Served for a minimum period of three (3) years in the grade of Enrolled Nurse I, Job Group ‘J’;
·         A Certificate in any of the following disciplines: Kenya Enrolled Nurse, Kenya Enrolled Community Health Nurse, Kenya Enrolled Midwife, Kenya Enrolled Psychiatric Nurse or Enrolled Nurse/Midwife from a recognized training institution;
·         Enrolment Certificate issued by the Nursing Council of Kenya;
·         A valid practising license from Nursing Council of Kenya; and
·         Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results
Responsibilities
·         Assessing patients and clients and establishing health care needs;
·         Planning and implementing nursing care interventions based on patients’/clients’ health needs;
·         Providing health education and counselling on identified health and socioeconomic needs to patients/clients;
·         Facilitating patients’ admission and discharge in a health facility;
·         Making appropriate discharge plan for patients;
·         Ensuring safe custody of in-patients belongings; maintaining records on patients/clients personal and health condition/care; conducting assessment of school health needs;
·         Planning, implementing interventions and preparing periodic reports;
·         Conducting occupational health needs assessment; and
·         Providing appropriate healthcare services including immunization, reproductive health; guiding and orienting staff and students; and carrying out health outreach activities.

Medical Laboratory Technologist II
Three (3) Posts

Job Group ‘J’
Terms of Service: Three (3) Years Contract
Qualifications
·         Served for a minimum period of three (3) years in the grade of Medical Laboratory Technologist III, Job Group ‘H’;
·         A Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences or any other equivalent qualification from an institution recognized in Kenya;
·         A registration certificate issued by the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technician and Technologists Board (KMLTTB); and
·         A valid practicing license from the Keya Medical Laboratory Technician and Technologists Board (KMLTTB).
Responsibilities
·         Carrying out blood grouping and screening for blood transfusion infections;
·         Issuing blood and blood products to health facilities as per request;
·         Preparing blood products for safe custody or use;
·         Decontaminating working benches;
·         Receiving and scrutinizing laboratory requisition forms and specimens;
·         Receiving, collecting, labelling and registering specimens;
·         Disaggregating specimens for processing and analysis;
·         Preparing stains and reagents;
·         Dispatching the results for use in clinical management; and
·         Recruiting, preparing and bleeding of donors for transfusion services.

Pharmaceutical Technologist I

Terms of Service: Three (3) Years Contract
Basic Salary Scale: Ksh.35,400 – Ksh.46,230 p.m.
Job Group ‘K’
Qualifications
·         Served in the grade of Pharmaceutical Technologist II, Job Group ‘J’ for at least three (3) years;
·         A Diploma in either Pharmacy or Pharmaceutical Technology or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
·         A certificate of Enrollment as Pharmaceutical Technologist awarded by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB); and
·         Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
Responsibilities
·         Receiving, interpreting, and processing of prescriptions;

·         Promoting rational drug/medicines use; acquiring of drugs/medicines for the health facility;
·         Preparing and submitting reports; providing health education on rational use of drugs/medicines; receiving complaints and reporting adverse drug reaction; and
·         Receiving and reporting poor quality medicine.

Senior Health Records & Information Officer

Qualifications

Responsibilities
·         Implementing health records and information policies, standards and guidelines;
·         Providing advice on disclosure, confidentiality, security and exchange of health records and information;
·         Carrying out health records and information system review;
·         Capturing data from service points;
·         Disseminating health information where necessary;
·         Maintaining safety of health records and confidentiality;
·         Maintaining diagnostic and surgical indices;
·         Maintaining a Master Index; and
·         Coding diseases and surgical procedures according to the International Classification of Diseases and Procedures in Medicine.

Senior Health Administrative Officer

Qualifications

Responsibilities
·         Co-ordination of all support services,
·         Ensuring timely completion of hospital reports, budgets and estimates,
·         Co-ordination of all hospital administrative functions; and
·         Supervision and development of staff.

Medical Officer

Qualifications
·         A Bachelors of Medicine and Bachelors of Surgery (M.B;Ch.B) degree from a university recognized in Kenya;
·         Successfully completed one (1) one year internship from a recognized institution; and
·         A registration in license from the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board.
Responsibilities
·         Diagnosing, caring and treating diseases;
·         Performing medical and surgical procedures;
·         Preparing and responding to emergencies and disaster;
·         Participating in management of medicines, medical instruments and equipment;
·         Providing health education;
·         Maintaining medical records, health information and data;
·         Counseling patients and their relatives on diagnoses and bereavement; and
·         Teaching and coaching medical students, nursing students and clinical officer interns; and preparing requisite documents for registration.

Pharmacist

Terms of Service: Three (3) Years Contract
Qualifications
·         A Bachelors of Pharmacy degree (B.Pharm) from a university recognized in Kenya;
·         Successfully completed one (1) year internship from a recognized institution; and
·         A registration certificate by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board.
Responsibilities
·         Screening prescriptions for legal validity, drug interactions, appropriateness of dose, frequency and duration of dosing and patience convenience;
·         Preparation and dispensing medicines according to good Dispensing Practices and counseling patients on use of medicine;
·         Making extemporaneous preparations;
·         Participating in ward rounds;
·         Identifying medicinal gaps and challenges;
·         Maintaining a daily activity log book for recording all activities undertaken;
·         Recommending over the counter (OTC) medicine to patients/clients with simple medical conditions and making necessary referrals; and
·         Making entries into the relevant inventory management records and registers

Dental Officer
Two (2) Posts

Terms of Service: Three (3) Years Contract
Basic Salary Scale: Ksh.46,230 – Ksh.61,840 p.m. (Job Group ‘M’)
Qualifications
·         A Bachelors of Dental Surgery (DS) degree or any other equivalent qualification from a university recognized in Kenya;
Successfully completed one (1) year internship from a recognized institution; and
Certificate of registration by Medical Practitioners and Dentist Board.
Responsibilities
·         Providing dental care including: diagnosing common oral conditions, treating, prescribing and referring: carrying out minor oral and maxillofacial surgery: prosthetics, and conservative dentistry;
Facilitating admission, disease investigations of patients, report writing and assisting in theatre activities: collecting information on dental health information system; and
Organizing discharge summaries and follow-up of patients; and acting as the first on call on duty.
