Assistant Agricultural Officer III (Ward)

Responsibilities
·         Collect and document data of farmers in the ward;
·         Visit farmers and train them on good agricultural practices;
·         Organize field days, demonstrations plots and shows;
·         Collect data on pests and diseases;
·         Assess crop damages by wildlife, floods or livestock;

·         Monitor the food situation in the ward and report on any disasters including floods damage, notifiable pests (e.g. army worms) and diseases (e.g. Maize Lethal Necrosis Disease);
·         Work in collaboration with other service providers in the area and monitor their activities; and
·         Perform any other duties and responsibilities as shall be assigned from time to time.
Requirements
·         A Diploma in Agriculture, Horticulture or farm management or any related discipline from a recognized institution.

Agricultural Officer (Monitoring, Evaluation & Communication Officer)

Responsibilities
·         Organize regular /periodic Monitoring and Evaluations;
·         Guiding staff on target setting of projects;
·         Assist departmental staff in performance appraisal;
·         Prepare evaluation reports;

Agricultural Officer (Crops Specialist)

Responsibilities
·         Advising the farm manager on viable enterprises to be undertaken in the institutional farm;
·         Develop a model farm in the institution;
·         Report on farm activities and crop conditions to the farm manager;
·         Keep good farm records for all crop enterprises;
·         Develop a crop rotation programme, crop production plans and crop implementation schedules for the farm;
·         Supervise farm labour to ensure efficient utilization of labour;
·         Perform any other duties and responsibilities as shall be assigned from time to time.
Requirements
·         A Bachelor degree in agriculture, horticulture, agricultural education or related discipline from a recognized institution.

Agricultural Engineer I (Agricultural Mechanisation Station Officer – MIS)

Responsibilities
·         Technology incubation;
·         Data collection and management;
·         Design and fabrication,
·         Capacity building of staff and stakeholders, on-farm trials and demonstrations;
·         Soil and water conservation, farm mechanization, agro-processing and farm structures.
·         Undertaking feasibility studies and other investigations;
·         Planning activities including preparation of reports.

Requirements
·         Be in possession of a Bachelor’s Degree in a field of Agricultural Engineering such as Soil and Water, Mechanization/Farm Power, Structures or any other relevant and equivalent qualification from a recognized institution
·         Be registered as a graduate Engineer with Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK)
·         Certificate in Computer application packages.

Agricultural Officer (Home Economist)

Responsibilities
·         Coordinate Home Economics in the sub county Agricultural Training Centre;
·         Promote Gender mainstreaming in Agriculture;
·         Monitoring and backstopping of the ward home economists;

·         Prepare regular/periodic reports on Home Economics;

Responsibilities
·         Provision of agricultural engineering works, services, on-farms trials, capacity building and machine and equipment fabrication.
·         Perform any other duties and responsibilities as shall be assigned from time to time.
Requirements
·         Diploma in a field of Agricultural Engineering such as soil and Water, Mechanization/Farm Power, Structures, Surveying or any other relevant and equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution; or
·         Technician Part III Certificate in a field of Agricultural Engineering such as Soil and Water, Mechanization/Farm Power, Structures, Surveying or any other relevant and equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution;
·         Certificate in Computer application packages.

Principal Agricultural Officer (Principal Farmers Training Centre)
JOB GROUP ‘N’ (1 POST)
Responsibilities
·         Manage the Training centres, staff and activities;
·         Develop farmers training curriculum;
·         Compile scheduled reports;
·         Prepare work plan and budgets for the institution;
·         Develop a model farm for farmers to learn; and
·         Perform any other duties and responsibilities as shall be assigned from time to time.
Requirements
·         A Bachelor’s degree of Science (BSc.) in any of the following fields: Food Science, Home Economics, Agriculture, Horticulture, Agriculture Economics, Natural Resource Management, Agribusiness, Agriculture Extension, Agricultural Education or any other relevant and equivalent qualification from a recognized
institution.
·         Six (6) years working experience in the field.
·         Certificate in Computer application packages.

Agricultural Officer (Agribusiness Specialist)

Responsibilities
·         Coordinating and promote the establishment of small agro-processing businesses for value addition;
·         Establish the economic performance of major enterprises in the area;
·         Develop farm business plans for farmers;
·         Compute farm inputs requirements for the area;
·         Monitor and collect agricultural market data and performance;
·         Prepare work plans and budgets for the department of agriculture;
·         Prepare progress reports and carry out monitoring and evaluation;
·         Conduct Broad Based Surveys for projects; and
·         Perform any other duties and responsibilities as shall be assigned from time to time.
Requirements
·         A Bachelor’s degree in Agribusiness Management or Agriculture Economics or
related discipline; and
·         Computer literate and ability to use statistical packages e.g. Statistical Package
for Social Sciences (SPSS) and other analytical tools.
