The Africa Regional Office (ARO) in Nairobi comprises the regional office, Somalia and Kenya Programs.
AFSC is seeking to recruit the following positions based at the ARO.
Somalia Program Officer
Reporting to the Somalia Country Representative and based at ARO, the PO will support implement a donor funded peace building program in South Central Somalia
Key Responsibilities:
·         Implement a three-year donor funded program targeting youth in South central Somalia
·         Develop and implement an outreach and advocacy engagement strategy to respond to issues affecting Somali youth.
·         Articulate AFSC’s values and principles including its commitment to peace and nonviolent approaches to social justice and peacebuilding among Somali youth.
·         Provide support to efforts toward creating spaces and learning circles for youth interaction through exchange visits, networking and workshops.
·         Supports the application of M&E with partners to include, among others, the review of data collection tools or strategies, the review and writing of partner reports, contributions to new project proposals, and the provision of sessions on M&E concepts and approaches.
·         Technically supporting AFSC Somalia Program Partners to improve in their deliveries of program services to their targeted population with greater impact and effectiveness.
·         Regular field visit to the partner on monitory and support visits.
Qualifications
·         Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field preferably Peace Studies, Conflict Transformation, Peace building.
·         3 years’ experience working in Somalia or Somalia related work elsewhere. Commitment to AFSC’s mission and values

Accountant
Reporting to the Regional Finance and Administration Manager and based at ARO, the accountant will support the Finance and Administration function of AFSC in financial management and accounting.
The position works with finance officers to ensure that AFSC’s funds are well managed with integrity, accuracy and completeness in fund management
Key responsibilities
·         Maintenance of office petty cash, updating the petty cash books, monthly summaries, ensuring enough float and ensuring vouchers are properly signed and filed.
·         Support staff in banking and reconciliation of advances.
·         Advance management. Disburse and ensure travel/advance reconciliation within 10 days of the return of the officer from the trip.
·         Evaluating and processing cash requests for all projects and ensuring funds are available for project implementation
·         Uploading soft copies of all payables for online payment
·         Budget requests, wire transfers to partners, forex exchange and ensure sufficient bank balances

·         Payroll management for the Regional office, Kenya and Somalia Staff.
Qualifications
·         Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or any other business-related field.
·         CPA (II) or equivalent professional qualification in finance/accounting
·         At least three years of relevant experience with good computer skills and knowledge of accounting systems

Administration Officer
Reporting to the Regional Finance and Administration Manager, the position will provide administrative support to the regional office and programs. The position will work closely with the Regional Director as the executive assistant while managing very confidential materials and information.
Key Responsibilities
·         Serve as first point of contact for any internal(staff) or external members and provide relative information as required including information to visitors coming to the region.
·         Support the Regional Director, Finance and admin and program staff by giving administrative assistance.
·         Manage all contacts and liaison with different organizations and individuals as the first contact person in the office and coordination of staff communication.
·         Procurement of goods and services
·         Assist in recruitment
·         Manage office security and ensure that security equipment is in order, provide security updates & prepare security advice for visitors
·         Coordinate meetings & travel arrangements
·         Management of vehicles, custodian of vehicle documents and insurance renewals.
·         Provide administrative support to the Regional Director as his executive assistant.
Qualifications
·         Degree in Business administration or any other related field with at least 2 years relevant experience, self-driven, innovative with good inter personal skills

Office Assistant
The position will report to the Administration Officer and provide support to staff at ARO in their work by ensuring cleanliness of the office, serving refreshments and supporting in petty errands.
Key Responsibilities
·         Ensure cleanliness of the office always.
·         Make tea/coffee and other refreshments for staff, partners and visitors
·         Assist the administration officer to run errands related to the office
·         Responsible for supplies e.g. stationery, toiletries, beverages among others.
·         Filing finance and other documents as directed on a need basis.
·         Assisting RD and RFAM with scanning and pasting documents.
·         Assist office staff in minor duties e.g. making photocopies, scanning and printing
·         Work closely with the administration officer to support them in their work including handling calls and mails, welcoming visitors, managing the front office in the absence of the administration officer.
Qualifications
·         A minimum KCSE (C-) educational qualification or its equivalent
·         At least two years of relevant experience in a busy professional office, good interpersonal skills, ability to fluently communicate in both English and Kiswahili, basic computer skills/ basic professional training
