Field Interviewers for the Impact of Expanded
Global GAG Rule Research Project in Kenya.
The African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC) is an international non-profit, non-governmental organization that carries out policy relevant research on population, health, education and development issues facing sub-Saharan Africa.
The main aim of the project is to
assess the impact of the recently expanded global gag rule on SRH services within
select facilities and organizations in Kenya.

APHRC invites applications for
qualitative field Interviewers, in its Impact of expanded global gag rule
research project, to be conducted in 3 counties in Kenya (Siaya, Kisumu and
Nairobi).
Minimum Requirements: Qualitative
Field Interviewer;
1. A first degree in sociology,
anthropology, nursing, public health or any other Social science or Health
related field
2. Fluent in English and Swahili, in
both oral and written form
3. Have proven experience and skills
in qualitative research work
4. Can facilitate interviews and
group discussions in English and Swahili
5. Has experience in note taking
during qualitative discussions
6. Has strong interpersonal and
communication skills
7. Experience in health facility
based data collection will be an added advantage
The successful candidates will be
expected to:
a) Recruit participants who meet the
eligibility criteria
b) Conduct interviews on all recruited
study participants
c) Complete, edit and submit all
interviews for cross-checking and verification by the supervisor.
d) Keep updated records and databases
of assigned work.
e) Other related activities, assigned
by the supervisor and project manager.
The successful candidates will be
expected to:
a) Moderate/ facilitate qualitative
interviews with women discharged from public health facilities having been
treated post abortion complications.
b) Take notes and compile
comprehensive qualitative interview debriefing notes / reports
c) Prepare data collection progress
updates and reports
d) Other related activities, assigned
by the supervisor and project manager
e) Be prepared to work full time on
the project for the duration of the data collection
f) Flexible and available to work odd
hours (when necessary ), under minimum supervision
