Context: Terre des hommes (Tdh) launched its activities in Kenya in
January 2011. Tdh provides support to children in Dadaab Refugee Camp and in Korogocho
slums. Tdh also implements WASH, Child Protection, health and nutrition
projects in Garissa County.
General job description: Reporting to his/her immediate superior, the Assistant role is
to support the Advocacy and Empowerment team in implementing and monitoring
livelihoods. Building capacity for established children and community based
committees /groups dedicated to child protection issues.
And conducting information forums and
radio shows. S/he is responsible for data collection and entry, maintaining
detailed up-to-date records for field activities, and supporting the successful
delivery of project activities
Specific Job Descriptions:
·
CP Awareness, information, behaviour
change and advocacy in the Host/Refugee community
·
Empowerment, Partnership and Advocacy
for Child Safe Repatriation, enhancing children’s access to services including
CP in camps and host communities
·
Conduct proper recording,
documentation for all the children and their caregiver seeking child protection
services and information at the sectional level.
·
Provision and Dissémination of
appropriate Child protection information to support decision making on
voluntary repatriation and sustained protection for the children remaining in
the camp
·
Provide trainings and monitoring to
the Community’s Own Child Protection Mentors and on behavior change and General
Child protection concerns
·
Lead a team of corps (Community’s Own
Child Protection Mentors to engage with caregiver and families at sectional and
block level to create awareness and respond to the most urgent emerging child
protection concerns in the community for Host/Refugee community.
·
Facilitate and support the Sub-County
Children Officer (SCCO) to select and establish 8 Volunteer Children Officers
(VCOs) who will be members of the Area Advisory Council – (AAC), Documenting
and conducting meeting with the (ACC) bi-weekly
·
On a monthly basis, participates
information forums involving other protection partners and service providers to
strengthen the support to individual children. (Information forums) for the
Host/Refugee
·
Document community during radio
session for both Refugee/host communities.
·
Supervision of the CORPS and
conducting on job training for them
·
Enhancing Empowerment, Partnership
and Advocacy for Child Safe Repatriation, to access services including CP in
the refugee communities.
·
To coordinate with SCCO in the
village level for reffreal and coordination
·
Participates in the recruitment of
community workers, in particular social workers, and CP volunteers
·
Reports incidents and difficulties
encountered with any CP staff or community worker to advocacy and empowerment
officer or CP project manager.
Information dissemination and
advocacy
·
Sharing and provision of appropriate
child protection information to support decision making on voluntary
repatriation and sustained protection for the children remaining in the camp
·
Supports in child led advocacy
campaigns, mass awareness and special events throughout the project. For the
Host/refugee community level
·
Conduct refresher training and mentorship
for children (Child Council members, peer support members and Ombudsman) to
reinforce knowledge on Child Protection topics and provide information on any
emerging issues such as Volrep or camp consolidation to strengthen child
participation on issues affecting them.
·
Life skills training and provision of
start-up kits and Nurturing kits for the babies (0-4) for trained vulnerable
girl mothers to enhance income generated activities as a source of livelihood
support.
·
Conduct refresher training and mentorship
for children (Child Council members, peer support members and Ombudsman) to
reinforce knowledge on Child Protection topics and provide information on any
emerging issues such as Volrep or camp consolidation to strengthen child
participation on issues affecting them.
Community involvement
·
Participates in the identification,
mobilisation and training of community members and other actors to encourage
their participation in different aspects of the project implementation (women,
elders, leaders, youth, children, etc.) at sectional level
·
Involve the community, where
appropriate, in the protection processes of children in particular need of
help.
Documentation
·
Ensures correct data protection
procedures and filing
·
Documentation of the conducted
activities, documenting of human interest stories
Monitoring and evaluation
·
Participates in a base line survey
and evaluation of the CP projects
Capacity building
·
Contributes to the training and
capacity building of all community workers and other community groups.
Coordination
·
Supports and works in coordination
with all CP team, community leaders CPCs and other relevant camp based actors
in all steps of project implementation.
·
Participates in weekly team meetings,
Cluster weekly meeting
·
Participates in case conference
meetings at section level.

Represents Tdh in inter-agency
meetings and at the community level.

Develops a community network to
facilitate the project acceptance and ownership.
Reporting

approaches in building resilience in fragile context, supporting development of

relevant authorities at district, Dadaab and FAFI community levels (civil,
religious, and all other services) to facilitate Tdh activities implementation,
acceptance, and ownership from the community in Garissa County.

Mapping,updating the database of
partners of all relevant authorities at district, Dadaab and FAFI community

networking with various actors in Hagadera camp: To increase participation by

To work with other statutory and
gencies to manage risk and safeguard and protect children from the risk of

Program Area Manager in providing a regular social and economic analysis of the
North Eastern Province and Tdh intervention areas within the monthly sitrep.

General job description: Reporting to his/her immediate superior, the Monitoring
and Evaluation (M&E) Assistant provides technical and methodological
support to operations teams. He/she helps develop monitoring plans and adapt
and roll out monitoring tools in compliance with Tdh’s approaches and methods.
The
M&E Assistant helps collect, process and analyse data, and ensures that
monitoring information is effectively communicated.
He/she
takes part in internal and external evaluation processes in addition to
monitoring of project activities.
Main responsibilities:
Monitoring plans
·
Helps develop project monitoring
plans and adapt and roll out monitoring tools to meet project and programme
requirements. Helps design databases in coordination with the Monitoring and
Evaluation officer and Project Manager
·
Checks that collection tools are
consistent with M&E plans, working in coordination with the M&E Officer
while reporting any technical or methodological issues.
Monitoring activities
·
If necessary, assists the Project
Leader and Monitoring and Evaluation officer collect data identified in the
M&E plan in coordination with the Data clerks.
·
Supervises and/or supports collection
activities in the field while respecting ethical and methodological standards.
·
If necessary, helps enter monitoring
data provided by project teams using the appropriate tools.
·
Informs the Project Leader and/or
Monitoring and Evaluation officer of any unmet targets, contextual changes
(risks and opportunities) and negative effects on beneficiaries.

Helps manage and organise M&E
information while ensuring that confidential data is protected, in coordination
