The Kenya Film Classification Board is a State Corporation established
by the Film and Stage Plays Act Cap 222 Laws of Kenya to regulate the creation,
broadcast, possession, distribution and exhibition of film and broadcast
content in the country.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Film Monitoring and Enforcement Manager, the
duties and responsibilities at this level will include, but not limited to:
·
Approving and filing of application forms and issue notes for
distributors and exhibitors;
·
Issuing Film regulatory licenses to video/film exhibitors and
distributors;
·
Issuing classification labels & film classification catalogues
to distribution and exhibition outlets and the general public;
·
Monitoring broadcast content by enforcing compliance of watershed
period principles;
·
Monitoring of film exhibition and distribution outlets, for
compliance with Cap 222, Laws of Kenya;
·
Monitoring and investigating production of pornographic materials;
·
Sensitizing the exhibitors, distributors, broadcasters, general
public and other stakeholders film/broadcast content consumption and
regulation;
·
Sensitizing the broadcasters on the violation and compliance of
watershed period principles;
·
Monitoring and controlling the distribution of unclassified and
obscene films through the internet;
·
Ensuring age restriction on viewership is observed by film
distributors and exhibitors; and
·
Ensuring that every film that enters the country is classified and
rated by KFCB.
Requirements
·
Be a Kenyan citizen;
·
Have Bachelor’s degree in any of the following fields: Journalism,
Public Relations, Mass Communication, Broadcast Production (Film/TV/Radio),
Sociology, Criminology, Psychology, Education, religious studies, law or its
equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution;
·
Possess Certificate in computer applications.
Film Examination Officer

Responsibilities
Reporting to the Film Examination Manager the duties and
responsibilities at this level will include, but not limited to:

Updating and maintaining film classification catalogues;
·
Organizing for films and trailers to be examined and classified;
·
Rating and approving film posters and trailers;
·
Issuing periodical film classification catalogues to clients;
·
Rating and examining films and broadcast programmes;
·
Rating of commercials, music videos, play stations and internet
content;
·
Carrying out random inspection checks of cinema theatres; and
·
Preparing reports on film examination and classification trends.
Requirements
·
Be a Kenyan citizen;
·
Have Bachelor’s degree in any of the following fields: Journalism,

Security Officer II

the creation, broadcast, possession, distribution and exhibition of film and
broadcast content in the country.
The Board invites applications from suitable and qualified persons
to fill the following positions:
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Human Resource and Administration Manager, the
duties and responsibilities at this level will include, but not limited to:
·
Ensuring the security, safety and well being of all personnel,
visitors and the premises
·
Undertaking Security surveillance;
·
Ensuring that offices and equipment are safe;
·
Ensuring that firefighting equipment are in place and in
serviceable
·
Developing and implementing security policies and strategies in
liaison with the Head of Administration;
·
Supervising the work of Security Wardens and ensuring standing
regulations/procedures are complied with;
·
Maintaining a detailed security register; and
·
Administering First Aid in case of an emergency.
Requirements
·
Be a Kenyan citizen;
·
Have ten (10) years working experience three (3) of which should
have been served in the grade of Security Warden I or comparable and relevant
position in the Public or Private Sector;
·
Have Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade D+
and above;
·
Have post-Secondary School training in Security Management from a
recognised institution;
·
Demonstrate knowledge of security operations and procedures;
·
Have Certificate in computer applications;
·
Be physically and medically fit.
