SAPCONE is a Kenyan based non –governmental organization whose mandate is to work with people particularly pastoralist and fisher-folk communities in Northern Kenya as the main beneficiaries of peace and development.

We do this through innovative project implementation for purposes of attaining sustainable livelihoods. Formed in 2006 as community based organization and transitioned in 2011 as National Public Benefits Organization.
Since its inception in 2006 the organization, has implemented several projects on good governance and social accountability, increase access to education and child protection ,support and strengthen community projects for resilience and livelihoods, Promote innovative peace building and recurring conflict among Turkana and cross border communities in South Omo zone in Ethiopia.


SAPCONE is seeking a dynamic and suitable qualified person for the position mention below and be based in the duty station indicated.
Job Title: Counselor
Duty Station: Lodwar

Duties and Responsibilities
·         To provide psychosocial support to selected cases of high risk cases or cases in need of specialized psychosocial support or mental health interventions
·         Participate in need assessments and project evaluations aiming at contributing to the development of the child protection programme strategy
·         To support in the development of intervention criteria for the psychosocial cases and design appropriate technical responses to psychosocial and mental health cases
·         Provide training and supervising the CP team and community based structures on the management of children and families with basic psychosocial and mental concerns
·         Train CP team members on the child friendly interviews techniques and implementation of psychosocial assessment
·         Under the supervision of the Child Protection Technical coordinator, coordinate with the Child Protection Senior officer on assistance response to cases of children in need of psychosocial interventions
·         Establish and monitor psychosocial and resilience building activities for all children at existing SAPCONE facilities or in the community
·         Develop networks for referral of high risk cases and ensure regular follow ups of cases in need of additional and mental health need
·         Participate and represent SAPCONE in relevant working group meetings/Forums at Turkana to enhance coordination and foster good working relationship with partners
·         Develop unit reports as required
·         He/she will conduct his or her duties in respect of the Charter of SAPCONE and the SAPCONE Child Protection Safeguarding Policy.

·         He/she commits to observe discretion on any information related to the organization functioning and beneficiary related issues
Qualifications and Competencies
·         Minimum bachelor degree in Counselling / Counselling Psychology / Psychological Counselling from a recognized university. Clinical experience is a plus
·         Experience in use of community based approaches for the management of psychosocial and mental health issues
·         Experience in application of innovative / creative and evidence based psychosocial and mental health issues
·         Minimum of three years’ experience with prominence in psychosocial and mental health assignments
·         Experience in case management including management of case conferences
·         Project reporting and evaluation experience
·         Staff supervision experience
·         Fluency in English, Kiswahili and Turkana Language, and knowledge of Turkana culture and traditions is a plus


Job Title: House Mother and House Father – Child Protection Project

Duties and Responsibilities
The responsibility of the House Mother/Father is to provide personal care, ensuring good behavior and hygiene standards of children are maintained.
He/She is in charge of the welfare and well-being of children in the Children’s Home within the house and should aim at providing a caring, safe and happy environment.
She must lend an empathetic ear to children with problems or organize counseling services whenever necessary to make them feel loved, appreciated and at home
Qualifications and Competencies
·         Secondary school level education (KCSE) or its equivalent
·         Experience working with children, especially infants and toddlers required

·         Formal training in Early Childhood development / Knowledge about child development and appropriate practice is an added advantage.
·         Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing, in English, Kiswahili and local languages.
·         Well organized; able to plan and set priorities
·         Basic counselling skills
·         Able to maintain confidentiality
·         Easily makes rapport with children of all ages
·         Able to relate with guardians in a professional way.
·         Has ability to mentor and be of good example to children.
·         Team-player, ready to help others
·         Trainable, ready and able to learn
·         Sensitive and understanding


Job Title: Cook
Duty Station: Lodwar and Lowarengak

Duties and Responsibilities
·         Scheduling activities and equipment use with managers, using information on daily menus to help coordinate cooking times.
·         Verifying that prepared foods meets requirement for quantity and quality.
·         Maintaining Sanitation, Health and safety standards in work areas.
·         Preparing dough and following recipes.
·         Clean, stock and restock workstation and display cases.
Qualifications and Competencies
·         Certificate from a culinary school will be an added advantage.
·         Experience in using cutting tools, cookware and bake ware.
·         Able to follow all sanitation procedures.
·         Able to work in a team.
·         Reliable communication skills.
·         Excellent physical condition and stamina.


Job Title: Human Resource and Admin Assistant
Duty Station: Lodwar

Duties and Responsibilities
·         Supporting recruitment and training and development of staff and interns.
·         Working together with programme, finance and admin staff to make sure that staffs get paid correctly and on time.
·         Handle pensions and benefits administration.
·         Support in drafting job descriptions in line with established job design and applicable policies and generally accepted practices.
·         Support actions geared at looking after the health, safety and welfare of all SAPCONE staff.
·         Support organization of staff training sessions and activities.
·         Advising line managers and other employees on employment law and the employer’s own employment policies and procedures.
·         Support the negotiation of salaries, contracts, working conditions or redundancy packages with staff and representatives.
·         Support the procurement processes especially documentation of technical evaluation during staff and consultants’ recruitment, and bid analysis for procurement of goods and non-consultancy services.
·         Support general administrative and logistics duties (booking of tickets, organization airport transfers, etc).
Qualifications and Competencies
·         A Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in a relevant subject such as HR management or any relevant discipline.
·         Candidates with relevant apprenticeship, such as a higher apprenticeship in HR management may be considered
·         A professional qualification in HR management and membership with recognized professional bodies will be an added advantage.
