Job Vacancy: Senior Finance and Business Analyst – NGO

Duration: 2 year fixed term contract
A multinational NGO dealing with education and child protection projects is looking for a Senior Finance & Business Analyst to provide strategic analysis of financial and business data to guide the leadership in strategic and management decision making.
In particular the incumbent will support the organization in achieving greater efficiencies through deeper analysis and understanding of organizational cost trends and projections, cost structures, cost ratios, cost recovery and spending rates/patterns across the organization.
S/he will through analysis help the leadership understand the ongoing viability of the organization set at the Country, Hub, and Program Unit levels.
This is a critical position that will also deputise and support the Country Finance Manager in general financial analysis and planning as well ensuring timely financial reporting that is tailored to meet management needs for improved decision making.
Key Responsibilities
·         Complement the Country Finance Manager in supervising finance staff responsible for financial reporting. It will also closely interact with Country Leaders Teams on matters pertaining to financial and business analysis at various levels in the organization.
·         Support the implementation of country, global and regional financial strategies and to provide timely and reliable financial information and analysis that leads to effective decision making at the country Level.
·         Contributes to country’s strategic objectives by ensuring effective business critical support information is in place and contributing to maximize the availability of resources for programs by cost effective financial processes and other operating activities by timely and accurate management reporting.
·         Provides support to Country Finance, Grants and Program teams in improving the overall transparency and accountability.
·         Review and consolidation of country finance reports.
Required
·         Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
·         Professional Financial/Accounting qualification e.g CPA (K), ACCA or equivalent
·         At least 5 years’ experience in similar role in the NGO sector
·         Significant experience with large multiple government grants from donors
·         Knowledge of the sector and the financial management issues
·         Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards, Control standards and Risk management techniques
·         Proven effective Management
·         Strong team building skills, motivated & with good attitude towards work.
·         Strong negotiating, facilitating and influencing skills
·         Excellent proven financial analytical skills
·         Good written and spoken English Good presentation and communication skills in delivering financial management information
·         Proficient in computer skills and use of Microsoft based packages. Experience of using general ledger packages and other databases is an advantage. (SAP and various bespoke systems).

Job Vacancy: Regional Head of Influencing and Strategic Communication
A multinational NGO dealing with education and child protection projects is looking for a Regional Head of Influencing and Strategic Communication to provide strategic and technical leadership and oversight to Plan’s Advocacy, campaigning, Media and Communications work in the region.
S/he ensures that the regional advocacy priorities are prioritized in our strategic partnerships and engagement with actors and stakeholders through influencing activities at the regional level.
S/he collaborates with the Global Influencing and Partnerships Department at our international headquarters, with our UN Liaison Offices and particularly with the Pan-African Liaison Office and the West and Central African Regional Office to ensure that global advocacy, communication priorities and campaigns effectively support our goals.
S/he supports capacity development and quality assurance measures for communication and influencing staff in Eastern and Southern Africa and represents Regional Office in global Influencing network and other networking fora.
Key Responsibilities
·         A member of the Regional Office Management Team (ROMT) and leader of the regional network covering our advocacy, policy, strategic partnership and communication and media work in RESA.
·         Provides leadership and supervision to regional team for all influencing and communication and fosters integration of programme and influencing activities.
·         Facilitates the development and maintenance of strong internal and external linkages with key regional and sub-regional institutions, strategic partners, peer organisations, the private/corporate sector and media outlets within and beyond the region.
·         Advises on and manages risks related to advocacy, campaigning, strategic partnership, communication and media work in the region.
·         Develops and oversees the execution of the assigned component of the regional office budget.
Required
·         In-depth knowledge of current issues and trends, in both the development and humanitarian sectors in the region of Eastern and Southern Africa and beyond.
·         Masters level required in one of the following fields: national and international law, communication and Public Relations, international development and political sciences
·         Demonstrated working knowledge of regional stakeholders and actors, such as national Governments, inter-governmental institutions, civil society and UN agencies, media and journalists
·         Minimum of 5 years demonstrated experience of working as a manager with supervisory capacity and budget responsibility
·         Proven experience to develop and implement advocacy, influencing, partnership and communication and media strategies
·         Excellent understanding of child rights and gender equality as pre-conditions and ingredients for sustainable development.
·         Working knowledge of French, Portuguese or Arabic desirable.



Job Vacancy: NGO Business Development Coordinator
Duration: 2 year fixed term contract
A multinational NGO dealing with education and child protection projects is looking for a Business Development Coordinator to ensure competent writing of concepts, proposals, capacity statements, and other write ups as required for fund development; scope for and evaluate new opportunities including calls for proposals and Expression of Interest, reporting on current and potential opportunities in Pipeline Tracking Tool (GPMT); Deputize the Business Development Manager; Support in the contracting and documentation process of the different proposal development stages; and act as liaison between grants and business development department.
Key Responsibilities
·         Support in the development of opportunities such as proposals, concepts to donors (institutional, corporate, multilateral, and, foundations, etc).
·         Support Business Development Manager prepare and develop concept notes and other proposal write ups including proposals
·         Work with communications department and the Technical Advisors in the development of capacity statements including articles and write ups to be posted on social media (Twitter, Facebook), Plan Website, and other news channels
·         Support and deputize the Business Development Manager in representing Plan to donors and partners together with senior leadership team when called upon
·         Attend forums and meetings (including Skype calls) with/or on behalf of the Business Development Manager to represent Plan that will advance its interests to improve its funding opportunities
·         Support the Business Development Manager in identification and development of long term strategic partnerships
·         Act as a liaison between Grants Department and Business Development Department to ensure there is a harmonized coordination between the departments especially during proposal development (including budgeting), contracting (including FAD signing), and hand over of contracted projects.
Required
·         First Degree in a relevant discipline. Master’s degree an added advantage, or equivalent practical experience, in interdisciplinary areas within human rights, international development and program leadership.
·         5 years of demonstrable experience developing new business and working with multi and bilateral donor funded grants/contracts and other fund sources.
·         Extensive experience in proposal writing, concept development, and business cases, including budget formulation
·         Strong writing skills is essential to this role
·         Understanding of multiple donor policies and procedures particularly ECHO, OFDA, Start Network, Global Affairs Canada, SIDA, DFID, USAID, EC and UN Agencies
·         Ability to undertake strategic and programme planning
·         Proven ability to maintain strong donor and partner relations
·         Good understanding of gender equality in programs and meaningful child participation.


Job Vacancy: HR Coordinator – NGO
Duration: 1 year fixed term contract
A multinational NGO dealing with education and child protection projects is looking for a HR Coordinator to be in charge of performance management and learning and development for staff.
In liaison with the supervisors, s/he will give guidance and support to staff in developing objectives and support supervisors in performance management process and identifying learning needs and advising the HR Manager on the trainings required.
S/he will be in charge of appraisals, conducting awareness and ensuring the process is completed within timelines.
Key Responsibilities
·         Conduct learning and development needs assessment to inform planning and budgeting for training.
·         Develop TORs for respective trainings/workshops as identified from the assessment.
·         Ensuring learning and development activities throughout the year are within budget
·         Ensuring personal development plans are in place and follow-up on progress.
·         Encouraging learning and development, mentorship, group and individual training, e-learning and induction.
·         Ensure personal development plans are in place and discussed and agreed management and leadership programs within the organization are budgeted for and funded.
·         Support, identify and coordinate specific coaching opportunities for staff.
·         Produce organizational strategy and plans to meet training and development needs, and manage training delivery, measurement and follow-up as necessary.
·         Coordinate e-learning and virtual classroom programs.
·         Performance Management Coordination and training:
·         Manage performance in the HR system and generate reports to HR manager for each performance cycles.
·         Organize training on performance management system and performance management.
Required
·         A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource or related field.
·         At least 3-5 years of relevant proven experience as a HR specialist
·         Excellent knowledge of training and development, training process and adult learning
·         Ability to negotiate, advocate and influence effectively at all levels of the Country Office and outside of line management relationships.
·         Strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
·         Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships and networks quickly at every level within the Country Office and outside.
·         Listening, coaching and counselling skills.
·         Ability to lead and manage change effectively.
