Polytechnic Matron 

The Kabete National Polytechnic is seeking suitable candidates to fill the following Positions:
This position is responsible for ensuring that the Students facilities meet the set standards.

Duties

·         Take responsibility with other members of the Deans office for supervising students.
·         Maintain close liaison with the Polytechnic management at all times concerning students issues.
·         Ensure that the buildings, halls and hostels are used for the right purpose.
·         Report repairs required immediately to the Estates and Maintenance Department.
·         Participate in a programs of continual risk assessment within the Polytechnic as required by Health and Safety guidelines.
·         Maintain close liaison with the Dispensary at all times concerning students medical provision.
·         Monitor standards achieved by cleaners and other support agencies within the Boarding Department and report on any deficiencies to Operations.
·         Undertake such other duties as the Dean of students may reasonably require.

Requirements:

·         A Degree in Catering and Institutional Management from a recognized institution.
·         At least five years’ experience in a similar position.
·         A person who loves working with young adults and have previously engaged with teen and youth programmes to help them develop holistically.
·         Friendly and loving, sensitive and responsive for the needs of young adults.
·         Patient, flexible and open minded with excellent communication and listening skills.
·         Discreet and adhere to confidentiality.

Automotive Technician
The Kabete National Polytechnic is seeking suitable candidates to fill the following Positions:

Duties

·         Keeps equipment available for use by inspecting and testing vehicles; completing preventive maintenance such as, engine tune-ups, oil changes, tire rotation and changes, wheel balancing, replacing filters.
·         Maintains vehicle functional condition by listening to operator complaints; conducting inspections; repairing engine failures; repairing mechanical and electrical systems malfunctions; replacing parts and components; repairing body damage.
·         Verifies vehicle serviceability by conducting test drives; adjusting controls and systems.
·         Complies with state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards.
·         Ensuring that health and safety procedures are adhered to in the workshops
·         Keeps the workshop equipment operating by following operating instructions and maintaining supplies.
·         Maintaining cleanliness in the workshops, tools and equipment’s.
·         Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt.
·         Assisting students in practical’s lessons in the workshops

Requirements

·         A KCSE certificate holder with as minimum grade of C-
·         A holder of Government trade test 1 in motor vehicle mechanics. Driving license class BCE and at least two years working experience. Or
·         A certificate in Automotive engineering module II a Driving License class BCE and at least two years working experience.
·         Those with a certificate in motor vehicle mechanics and BCE driving license have an added advantage.


Laboratory Technician
The Kabete National Polytechnic is seeking suitable candidates to fill the following Positions:

Responsibilities

·         Receiving and scrutinizing laboratory requisition forms and specimens
·         Collecting and analyzing laboratory resultant data
·         Storing blood /body fluids specimens according to their requirements where applicable.
·         Preparing clients for collection of specimen for correctness
·         Preparing reagents, examining specimens writing and recording of results
·         Maintain infection prevention control measures as per the laid down procedure
·         Dispatching results for use in clinical management
·         Processing of specimens according to specific standard operating procedure.

Requirements

·         A Diploma in medical Science laboratory from KMTC or any other recognized institution

·         Must be registered by KMLTB ( Medical Laboratory Technologists Board )
·         Valid Practicing license from KMLTB.
·         A certificate in HTC from a recognized institution will be an added advantage.
·         At least three years’ experience post qualification and registration
·         A KCSE certificate holder with a minimum grade of C plain


Welder
The Kabete National Polytechnic is seeking suitable candidates to fill the following Positions:

Responsibilities

·         Provide support to trainers and trainees in solving technical problems and practical’s.
·         Maintain workshop inventories by receiving, issuing tools and materials in the workshop and ensure sufficient materials in the workshop.
·         Observe and ensure health and safety procedures are practiced and enforced and accidents reported to the section head.
·         Requisition for consumables to ensure they are replenished in timely manner and organize in a way that they are easily traced.
·         Prepare maintenance schedule for all the workshop equipment for approval by section head and maintain requisite records on servicing schedule on various equipment and machinery to ensure the schedule is adhered to.
·         Advise the section head on the budgeting requirement of the workshop to ensure that all the requirements of the workshop are budgeted for
·         Segregate non-financial equipment and machinery to promote safety on the workshop
·         Provide procurements specification for workshop equipment to be purchased to ensure purchase of the correct equipment/machinery
·         Report breakdown of machinery and equipment to the head of the section to advise on replacement needs.

Requirements

·         KCSE certificate with a minimum grade of D+
·         KNEC Craft certificate in Welding
·         Served in a relevant position for at least three  (3) year
·         Must be below 35 years


Senior Plumber
The Kabete National Polytechnic is seeking suitable candidates to fill the following Positions:

Duties

·         Maintain and repair damaged sinks, broken pipes, WCs, clogged drains, etc.
·         Install underground sanitary, drainage, and water supply piping systems
·         Cut pipes and transport to locations where they are required
·         Utilize hand tools in fitting of valves, couplings and components for tanks, pumps or other plumbing system
·         Ensure that bore holes submersible pumps and booster pumps are always in working and serviceable state.
·         Dig trenches/install pipes and piping fixtures for water or sewage systems
·         Fill pipes with resin or sand to prevent distortion and ensure they are steady during installation
·         Mount hangers and brackets on walls to provide support for pipes
·         Ensure compliance with building codes and set safety standards
·         Measure, cut, thread, and assemble pipes to required angles using measurement tools
·         Inspect plumbing systems to identify issues and initiate repairs
·         Liaise with head of Estate and Maintenance department to ensure an effective plumbing system within the institution

Requirements

·         A minimum of a craft certificate in plumbing
·         Good communication skills
·         KCSE Certificate with at least a mean grade of D+
·         4-7years experience in similar position
·         High attention to  details


Electronics Technician
The Kabete National Polytechnic is seeking suitable candidates to fill the following Positions:

Duties

·         Lay out, build, test and troubleshoot electronic and electrical components, equipment and units.
·         Perform inspections on electronic equipment and components to determine problems and need for troubleshooting.
·         Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems including controls, power supplies and test equipment.
·         Install, start up and shut down equipment and units to test their functionality according to the polytechnics protocols.
·         Assemble electronic systems based on established technical specifications and ensure that correlating repair and maintenance needs are fulfilled.
·         Create cable and wiring connections in a safe and accurate manner, and perform regular inspections to identify defects and replacements.
·         Provide recommendations for upgrades and modifications to improve system performance.
·         Develop prototypes to provide feasibility analysis and conduct correlating product presentations
·         Create and maintain inventory of tools and equipment required for testing and repairing purposes.
·         Perform tests on electronic equipment and analyze and interpret test data, creating reports for review.
·         Provide support in adjusting, calibrating and aligning components and units and record performance metrics.
·         Have practical experience in repair of measuring equipment’s and soldering.

Job Qualifications

·         KCSE certificate holder with C Plain
·         A minimum Certificate in Electronics (Tep) however a Diploma is desirable.
·         At least three years’ experience as a technician
·         Experience of working in a learning institution is desirable.
