The Sales Manager is responsible for
the profitable growth of AMREF Flying Doctor’s Air Ambulance subscription
products. He/she is responsible for providing leadership and managing a team of
sales personnel to meet AMREF Flying Doctors growth objectives. This includes
sales of Maisha and other AFD related products and services whilst meeting customer
satisfaction.
Principal Responsibilities
Identification and management of the
target market
·
Developing tactical sales strategies
for the market to support the overall AFD strategy and business plan in the
achievement of the business objectives;
·
Leading the implementation of the
tactical strategies and initiatives for the AFD Sales Team;
·
Developing and managing a portfolio
of high value, complex commercial client
·
relationships at an acceptable level
of risk;
·
Maintaining a high market profile
with both internal and external contacts
·
Maintaining the overall quality of
the AFD customer subscription portfolio and client base within established
parameters;
·
Managing risks in pricing, selling
activities and decisions;
·
Establishing and monitoring stretch
goals for the direct reports.
Develop profitable new business from
accounts and prospects to achieve revenue targets:
·
Preparing professional and timely
client presentations/proposals to meet client unique needs.
·
Negotiating terms, conditions and
documentation with customers, culminating in the closing of sales.
·
Negotiating pricing arrangements in
accordance with AFD policy and pricing guidelines to maximize profitable
income.
·
Providing the CEO with consistent,
timely and accurate business development reports.
·
Ensuring AFD interests are protected
by strictly adhering to risk management, compliance and internal regulatory
guidelines.
Market Development
·
Analysing market segments and working
collaboratively with internal partners to effectively develop and implement initiatives
to acquire new business.
·
Identifying product deficiencies as a
result of customer interactions and needs analysis and recommending potential
product changes/opportunities to the CEO
·
Maintaining a high market profile;
participating in industry forums to develop relationships with key centres of
influence to build and grow business opportunities
·
Building and maintaining partnerships
to help grow the business
·
Coordinating business development
activities with key internal business partners
·
Coaching sales officers on call
planning and effective post call follow-up along with related reports to ensure
appropriate prioritization and action on new business opportunities

Providing and coordinating product
and sales training for sales officers and other

AFD employees to ensure they act as
an effective reference sources for opportunities

Required Qualifications
·
Bachelor’s degree preferably in
business management or related course. Master’s degree is an added advantage
·
Minimum 10 years of proven work
experience with commercial relationship management and indirect retail business
experience preferably in a sales capacity;
·
Demonstrate knowledge of the air
ambulance and emergency evacuation marketplace, medical, insurance products,
major customers and competitive positioning;
·
Expert sales management leadership
skills;
·
Ability to analyse performance and
generate appropriate dashboards and reporting;
·
Strong tactical strategic planning
and implementation/management skills;
·
Must be able to effectively
articulate his/her view to all levels both within AMREF Flying Doctors and
externally in the marketplace at a senior level including industry/customer
public speaking forums;

Ability to travel several times a
year across Kenya and Eastern Africa.

USAID/Washington awarded the Koota Injena Cooperative Agreement to Amref Health
Africa, Inc.).
In partnership with Food for the Hungry (FH). The three
year project from October 1, 2017 until September 30, 2020 will be implemented
in two counties in the pastoral communities of Kenya. The goal of the project
is to implement and provide evidence on the effectiveness of engaging clans and
clan leaders as levers of bringing attitudinal and norm change towards the
abandonment of Child, Early and Forced Marriage (CEFM) and Female Genital
Mutilation/Cutting (FGM/C).
The project aims to work with communities to re-define the
value of the girl among the clan members of the Samburu, Borana, Rendille and
Gabra communities in Kenya’s Samburu and Marsabit Counties. The Senior
Technical Advisor for Positive Youth Development will play a critical role in
implementation of key objectives of the project in the two counties.
Overall Job Description:
Under the supervision of the Chief of Party and in
collaboration with other team members, the STA, Positive Youth Development will
lead and provide technical leadership and guidance to the project design and
implementation for community and positive youth development interventions in
line with project objectives and global best practices in youth development,
while adhering to the donor (USAID) and Amref Health Africa regulations and
requirements.
Additionally, the STA will provide leadership in the
development and utilization of relevant strategies, guidelines, tools, and
learning agendas, and in the documentation and dissemination of best practices
and lessons learned. The STA will facilitate and other members of the team on
key skills on positive youth empowerment and development.
Experience & Qualifications

At least 10 years of relevant working
experience working with vulnerable communities and youth
·
Strong skills in community
mobilization and positive youth development including leadership on training
and development of tools
·
Demonstrated experience with design
and building capacity on PYD
·
Ability to facilitate and train/coach

Main Responsibilities
Project Strategy and Technical
Guidance
·
Lead the design, planning,
implementation and management of both Counties’ project activities.
·
Provide overall quality assurance on
technical design and implementation of activities, ensuring that they are
technically sound and appropriate, including the development and delivery of
related capacity building and training support
·
Provide technical guidance to the
development of youth-related activities in Counties respective annual work plan
and budget.
·
Participate in the development of the
project Information, Education and Communication materials relevant to youth
·
Assist project staff in establishing
and maintaining relationships with youth-serving government agencies and youth
organizations, especially national youth-led organizations.
·
Represent the project at the County
level and attend all relevant County meetings.
·
Develop and maintain strong working
relationships and alliances with implementing partners and other key
stakeholders at the county and national level
·
Represent Amref Health Africa at
relevant donor and professional workshops and meetings.
·
Participate in select regional
organizational learning forums, such as communities of practice and technical
working groups
·
Stay abreast of state of the art
developments in quality standards and innovations relative to youth development
programming, including donor strategies and guidelines, and ensure timely
circulation of information and documentation to project staff.
Documentation and Research
·
Identify strategic opportunities for
learning, lead operations research, and assist with data collection, analysis
and dissemination of findings, including developing internal and external
publications such as briefs, abstracts, concept notes…

Collaborate with Amref Health Africa
communications department to develop materials showcasing the project’s key
activities and achievements
Capacity building
·
Mentor and train the project youth
advisor, community coordinators and youth facilitators on positive youth
development technics
·
Develop positive youth development
training of trainer’s tools and guidelines

Design the capacity building
activities for youth champions and youth led civil society organizations at the
County level
Monitoring and evaluation
·
Assist with developing appropriate
monitoring tools and implementing systems at the county level to utilize these
tools.
·
Strengthen the capacity of project
staff to evaluate program performance and report and share results.
·
Track achievements of project
objectives and indicators and write progress reports on a monthly, quarterly
and annual basis in compliance with donor requirements.
·
Ensure that relevant program
monitoring and evaluation systems, technical reviews, and the documentation and
dissemination of best practices and lessons learned, capture timely, high
quality information and utilize data to inform decisions and foster learning
and innovation

Monitor project implementation and
inform Chief of Party and Program manager on ongoing basis; troubleshoot as
needed to ensure smooth implementation of project activities.
Education, Skills & Competencies
Requirements
·
Masters’ Degree in Social Sciences,
Public Health, community health or its equivalent. PhD Degree strongly
preferred.
·
Demonstrated experience in positive
youth development project design, planning, implementation, monitoring and
evaluation
·
Demonstrated experience in writing
monthly, quarterly and yearly project reports based on performance indicator
results and creating project documentation (such as fact sheets, brochures, newsletter
articles, technical briefs, success stories…).
·
Demonstrated experience developing
positive youth development guidelines, tools (including training materials),
and learning agendas
·
Demonstrated experience in research,
monitoring and evaluation (M&E) and data visualization, specifically
documentation of lessons learned.
·
Demonstrated experience sharing
project successes, best practices and lessons learned during
national/regional/international conferences, working groups and panels, donor
meetings.
·
Demonstrated experience in developing
and maintaining strong working relationships and alliances with implementing
partners and other key stakeholders in county
·
Ability to speak/understand the

project is looking for a Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) Specialist to
join its team:
Under the supervision of the Senior Technical Advisor for
CEFM and FGM/C and in collaboration with other team members, the M&E
Specialist will provide technical leadership to capture program intervention
activities and results, ensure high-quality, timely, valid and verifiable data
collection and analysis, and develop and implement a learning agenda.
Experience Required
·
Minimum four years of post-Master’s
experience with research, analysis, gender-sensitive monitoring and evaluation,
training, and linking research to programmatic activities are essential.
·
Experience with CEFM, FGM/C, and PYD
strongly preferred and past experience with USAID project management –
including and especially quarterly data analysis and report writing preferred.
Education, Skills & Competencies

Master’s Degree in a relevant
discipline (e.g., Public Health, Behavioral Sciences, Psychology, Sociology,
Anthropology, Demography, International Development, Anthropology)

Extensive experience with designing

Experience in developing and

capacity-building and support to project implementation teams;

Experience managing a project
Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Plan and Performance Monitoring plan for
USAID-funded projects;

Experience identifying,
troubleshooting, and resolving issues with M&E tools and systems;

Experience analyzing M&E data and
translating findings for inclusion in USAID quarterly reports;

Demonstrated ability to use

Main Responsibilities
Documentation and Research
·
Co-manage with the project research
partner the implementation of a baseline community appraisal, and assist with
subsequent data analysis.
·
Produce project-related technical
deliverables, including research briefs, power point presentations, white
papers, and M&E guidelines, training modules, indicators and frameworks;
·
Collaborate with the Senior Technical
Advisor for Child, Early and Forced Marriage (CEFM) and Female Genital
Mutilation/Cutting (FGM/C) and project manager to develop technical
documentation based on project achievements such as briefs, abstracts, concept
notes…
Capacity building
·
Provide mentoring/training/refresher
trainings to project staff (especially those responsible for completing
monitoring forms) on the M&E tools and systems, including the MIS
·
Provide oversight to project staff’s
data collection and data entry activities, ensuring data quality through
regular data quality checks;
·
Coordinate regularly with project
staff to identify and troubleshoot any issues with the M&E system;
·
Lead and participate in quality
assurance and improvement exercises, including standards settings, regular
measurement of performance according to those standards, and collaborative
reviews to assess quality
·
Provide technical assistance on the
utilization of data and evidence;
·
Work with relevant stakeholders to
enhance data use in advocacy and in decision-making related to optimal
strategies and interventions
Monitoring and evaluation
·
Work closely with project staff and
partners in the design of the project’s M&E tools and systems (including
the MIS) and MEL Plan;

Ensuring that the MIS provides
relevant information without overburdening implementation staff and work
closely with staff to identify areas where specific components of the MIS are
not delivering required information or are proving overly burdensome to
implement so the MIS is adapted to program and evaluation needs.
·
Analyse the project’s monitoring data
for inclusion in quarterly reports to USAID; draft sharp and comprehensive
syntheses based on data analysis, to be included in quarterly report-writing
for USAID;
·
Collaborate with project staff to
regularly review the monitoring data and recommend shifts in project
implementation, if needed;
·
Write high quality reports, papers,
training materials, and more informal products such as blogs and success
stories, based on project data;
·
Maintain and update the projects’ MEL
Plan, indicators, and M&E tools and systems, as needed;
Key Area Activities

the performance of programs, including M&E design; selection and

measurement of appropriate
indicators; development of appropriate M&E recording and reporting forms
and mechanisms; data quality assurance processes and systems; database
