Requirements
Makueni County Public Service Board
is a body corporate established under Section 57 of the County Governments Act
2012 whose mandate includes appointing persons to hold or act in the offices of
County Public Service.
In order to strengthen the capacity
of the Public Service, the Board wishes to recruit competent and qualified
persons to fill the following positions as per Article 176 of the Constitution
of Kenya 2010 and Sections 45, 50 and 51 of the County Governments Act 2012.
Responsibilities
An Officer at this level will work
under guidance of a senior officer. Duties and responsibilities will entail:

Diagnosing, caring and treating
diseases;
·
Performing medical and surgical procedures;
·
Preparing and responding to
emergencies and disasters;
·
Participating in management of
medicines, medical instruments and equipment;
·
Providing health educational
maintaining medical records, health information and data;
·
Counselling patients and their
relatives on diagnoses and bereavement;
·
Teaching and coaching medical
students, nursing students and clinical officer interns;
·
Preparing requisite documents for
registration;
·
Performing any other duties as may be
assigned by the immediate supervisor.
Requirement
·
Be a Kenyan citizen;
·
Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of
Surgery (M.B.Ch.B) degree from an institution recognized by Medical
Practitioners and Dentists Board;
·
Successively Completed one (1) year
internship from a recognized institution;
·
Registration Certificate by the
Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board;
·
Certificate in Computer application
skills from a recognized institution;
·
Satisfy the requirements of Chapter
Six of the Constitution of Kenya 2010.
Requirements
·
Be a Kenyan citizen;
·
Kenya Certificate of Secondary
Education, Mean Grade C- (Minus) with atleast C (plain) in English and
Kiswahili Language or its equivalent qualification from a recognized
institution;
·
Diploma in secretarial studies from
Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC);
OR
·
Business Education Single and Group
Certificate (BES & GC) from Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) in
the following subjects;
1.
Type writing III (50 w.p.m)/
Computerised Document Processing III;
2.
Shorthand II (80 w.p.m);
3.
Business English II/ Communication I;
4.
Office Practice II;
5.
Secretarial Duties;
6.
Office Management III/ Office
Administration and Management III;
·
Certificate in Computer Applications
from a recognized institution; and
·
Shown merit as reflected in work
performance and results.
Pharmacist
Makueni County Public Service Board
is a body corporate established under Section 57 of the County Governments Act

County Public Service.

Salary: Job Group M
Responsibilities
An officer at this level will work
under supervision of a senior pharmacist. Duties and responsibilities will
include:
·
Screening prescriptions for legal
validity, drug contraindications, drug interactions, appropriateness of dose,
frequency and duration of dosing and patience convenience;
·
Preparing and dispensing medicines
according to Good Dispensing Practices and counseling patients on use of
medicines;
·
Making extemporaneous preparations;
·
Participating in ward rounds;
·
Identifying medicinal gaps and
challenges;
·
Maintain a daily activity log book
for re
·
Cording all activities undertaken;
recommending Over the Counter (OTC) medicines to patients/clients with simple
medical conditions and making necessary referrals;
·
Making entries into the relevant
inventory management records and registers;
·
Performing any other duties as may be
assigned by the immediate supervisor.
An officer at this level may also be
deployed in a manufacturing industry to: provide quality assurance and control
services; register products; register and license premises and providing ware
housing and logistics.
Requirements
·
Be a Kenyan citizen;
·
Bachelor of Pharmacy degree (B Pharm)
from an institution recognized by the pharmacy and poisons Board;
·
Successively Completed one (1) year
internship from a recognized institution;
·
Registration Certificate with
pharmacy and poisonous Board;
·
Certificate in Computer application
skills from a recognized institution;
·
Satisfy the requirements of Chapter
Six of the Constitution of Kenya 2010.
Registered Nurse I – Theatre

Responsibilities
Provide surgical patient care by
assessing, planning, and implementing the nursing care patients receive before,
during and after surgery. These activities include:

Patient assessment;

Creating and maintaining a sterile
and safe surgical environment;
·
Monitoring the patient’s physical and
emotional well-being;
·
Integrating and coordinating patient
care throughout the surgical care continuum and;
·
Providing pre- and post-operative
patient education;
·

Requirements

Served in the grade of Registered
Nurse II for a minimum period of three Years;

Diploma in any of the following
disciplines: Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing, Kenya Registered

institution;

Registered Nurse I – Ophthalmology

Providing health education and
counselling to patients/clients and community on identified health needs;
·
Referring patients and clients
appropriately; facilitating patients’ admission and initiating discharge plans;
maintaining records on patients/clients health condition and care;
·
Ensuring a tidy and safe clinical
environment;
·
Collecting and collating data for
research;
·
Evaluating healthcare outcomes on
patients/clients and preparing individualized reports;
·
Conducting assessment of schools
health needs;
·
Planning, implementing interventions
and preparing periodic reports;
·
Identifying occupational health needs
and making appropriate recommendations.
In addition to the above general
duties, the officer at this level will be responsible for care of patients (paediatrics
and adults) with kidney diseases. Specific duties and responsibilities will
include:
·
Assessment and nursing care of
patients in the renal unit;
·
Initiating of dialysis, patient and
machine monitoring during dialysis and termination of dialysis procedure;
·
Nursing care prior to and following
renal transplant;
·
Care of renal patients in the
secondary stage involving rehabilitation and in the tertiary stage;
·
Organizing for and coordinating
training for staff on renal care;
·
Ensuring a safe environment for care
of patients;
·
Performing any other duties as may be
assigned by the immediate supervisor.
Requirements

Be a Kenyan citizen.

Served as a Registered Nurse for a
minimum period of three years;
·
Diploma in any of the following
disciplines: Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing, Kenya Registered

Responsibilities
This will be the entry and training
grade for this cadre. An officer at this level will provide Environmental
Health Extension services in the area of deployment, where specific duties and
responsibilities will include

communities on matters related to environmental health;

Referring health cases to relevant
health facilities;
·
Carrying out immunization;
·
Identifying environmental health issues
at community level;
·
Organizing community health days to
advise communities on common public health issues
