Laboratory Technologist
Reporting to the Dean, School of
Pharmacy & Health Sciences, the successful candidate in each of the
following fields will be expected to support teaching and research activities
in the laboratory and engage in service to community, hospitals and industry:

Responsibilities
·
Performing tests and laboratory
procedures such as preparing samples, specimen and doing manual tests that are
based on detailed instructions and protocol.
·
Planning, documenting, setting up,
undertaking (and guiding students on) controlled experiments and trials.
·
Maintaining laboratory use records,
with reports as and when needed
·
Providing Semester and Annual
inventories reports
·
Preparing laboratory test samples and
specimen for examination by faculty and students
·
Discussing results and findings of
laboratory tests and procedures with faculty and students
·
Operating and maintaining
sophisticated instruments and apparatus; and computerized instruments capable
of performing a number of tests at the same time.
·
Setting up, calibrating, maintaining,
operating and shutting down laboratory instruments.
·
Preparing equipment maintenance
schedules and ensuring timely and satisfactory maintenance
·
Maintaining competence in a
Laboratory Information System that is crucial to the quality operations of the
laboratory.
·
Maintenance of material safety data
sheets for all department chemicals and products.
·
Actively participating in Quality
Improvement Programs essential to ensure that laboratory testing is accurate,
timely and meets customer needs.
·
Training and orientating new
Laboratory Technologists in the performance and interpretation of tests.
·
Engaging in service to the
University, the Profession and to the Community.
·
Adhering to the USIU-Africa
Laboratory Safety and Operational Guidelines
·
Performing any other duties as may be
assigned from time to time.

Additional responsibilities for
Parataxonomist:
·
Ensuring botanical naming of all
trees within the USIU compound
·
Custody, care, maintenance and
appropriate utilization of the School’s Botanical Garden
·
Preservation and propagation of
selected medicinal plants within the Botanical Garden
·
Setting up, operating and maintaining
operational Herbarium and Parasitology /Vectors Museum within the SPHS.
Qualifications
·
Higher National Diploma in the
relevant study field from an accredited University (Degree holders are
preferred)
·
Relevant experience of three (3)
years post-qualification in a Research Institution or at a university is
mandatory.
·
Registration with relevant Regulatory
Board.
·

Senior Digital Marketing Officer
Reporting to the Chief Manager –
Marketing and Communications, the Senior Digital Marketing Officer is charged
with the responsibility of driving the University’s digital strategy, helping
to meet and leverage on the ever-growing dynamics of key stakeholders.
The officer will have excellent
understanding of traditional and digital marketing in addition to social media,
websites, mobile apps and their analytics; providing sustainable brand
solutions using digital technologies.
Responsibilities
·
Development and management of the
digital and social media strategy for the university.
·
Develop and educate on digital
engagement policies and procedures
·
Provide leadership in the development
of a Social Media Agency that encompasses students, faculty, staff, alumni and
other stakeholders in driving positive and balanced conversations.
·
Compellingly communicate the university’s
story by envisioning how content will be presented/distributed in formats other
than text-based articles, such as infographics, Audio/Visual & Interactive
elements.
·
Deliver an excellent user experience
by working on quality and compelling content.
·
Lead digital plan development (Search
Engine Marketing; Search Engine Optimization; Paid Digital Media (Google
AdWords/Facebook, Twitter & Instagram Ads, inbound marketing).
·
Work with stakeholders to define
website architecture detailing what sites and social assets the university will
maintain.
·
Conduct digital asset audits to map a
brand’s global web presence and assess the effectiveness of each asset.
·
Drive lead generation and conversions
through digital campaigns.
·
Apply analytics to better profile, target
and retarget prospects, adapting campaigns to deliver higher quality responses
and improve conversions rates.
·
Research and recommend best practices
using analytics and on-going testing.
·
Monitor activity on digital
properties and report back and take appropriate action on negative and positive
tonality.
·
Monitor ROI goals on all marketing
initiatives and adapt accordingly.
Qualifications
·
A Bachelor’s degree in Marketing,
Communications, Journalism, Business or equivalent from an accredited
university.
·
A working experience in developing
integrated digital marketing strategies.
·
A strong working experience in
user-centered design, brand development, digital marketing and the creative
process.
·
Extensive experience in Content
Management Systems e.g. Drupal, Joomla, WordPress, Hootsuite, Adobe Marketing
Cloud.
·
Knowledge of photo and video editing
to augment text content in various campaigns will be an added advantage.
·
5 years and above relevant work
experience managing websites within a content management system framework and
digital marketing strategy development and execution.

Reporting to the Chief Manager –

Marketing & Communications team charged with the role of planning,

profile of USIU-Africa and demonstrate communications best practice.
Responsibilities

dynamic external communications campaigns.

Accountant- Receivables in the Department of Finance, the successful candidate

Human Anatomy Laboratory Technician
Reporting to the Program Director
(Pharmacy Program), in the School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, the
successful candidate will be responsible for the overall maintenance,
cleanliness and order in the laboratory and will assist the Laboratory
Technologist in the day-to-day activities of the laboratory.
Responsibilities
·
Assisting in preparation of reagents,
preservative solutions, samples and specimen for practical classes and
examinations.
·
Assisting in identification,
collection, handling and preservation of samples and specimen
·
Noting of breakages and other
incidences in the laboratories on incidence reports
·
Maintenance of laboratory records and
inventory for supplies, reagents & equipment
·
Maintenance of a clean and sanitary
working area in accordance with WHO’s Good Laboratory Practices; and general
maintenance of laboratory
·
Ensuring the return of all solutions,
chemicals and apparatus used in laboratory exercises.
·
Assembling supplies and constructing
apparatus; setting up and assisting in conducting classroom experiments and
demonstrations.
·
Storage of supplies and equipment;
disposing of solutions, used samples and specimen according to guidelines; and
keeping storerooms and working areas orderly and clean.

Remain abreast of any legislative or
industry changes and adjustments that may materially affect health and safety
management within the anatomy laboratory

Cleans up after each lab session by
washing, and if necessary, sterilizing tools, equipment, and supplies.

Affairs Officer – Sports Coordinator, the successful candidate will be responsible
for maintaining constant surveillance of patrons in the swimming pool facility,
and acting immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the
event of an emergency.
Responsibilities

Treat the pool with appropriate
concentration of chemicals on a regular schedule

Monitor pool-related activities
closely throughout shift and identify any safety issues

Direct swimmers out of the pool in
hazardous conditions

Monitor weather reports closely to
ensure safety of guests

team coaching when available
