Residence & Maintenance Assistant Job – Mechanical & Electrical
JOB LOCATION: Kakamega
REPORTING TO: Infrastructure Associate (Facilities Management)
As One Acre Fund’s Residence and Maintenance Assistant – Mechanical & Electrical in Kenya, you will provide effective hands-on operational supervision of electrical and mechanical maintenance services. You should have a background in mechanical and electrical maintenance works.
You will monitor performance to ensure quality standards and targets are met, developing detailed practical, hands-on knowledge of the nature of maintenance challenges that we face as an organization. You will help to implement repairs and preventative maintenance, supervise maintenance contractors and operatives with their day-to-day work, and help us reduce our expenditure in the long-run.
In order to achieve these goals successfully, you will be honest, practical, enthusiastic, and communicate clearly with your team and manager. You will also draw on your practical and technical knowledge, local sense, and both existing and new contacts, in order to improve the maintenance of our buildings and properties in Kenya. You will be a pragmatic problem solver, quick to respond and calm under pressure, and you will enjoy rolling up your sleeves and getting to grips with a wide range of maintenance challenges.

Roles

·         Supervise, coordinate, schedule and inspect the work of assigned staff and contractors
·         Undertake general routine inspection of our electrical and mechanical services, periodically to determine problems and necessary maintenance
·         Maintain service and repair electrical installations, water installations, fire fighting equipment, generators and general electrical and plumbing items.
·         Recommend corrective actions and priorities for maintenance of electrical and mechanical installations
·         Prepare daily/weekly maintenance schedules and allocate work
·         Hire and supervise tradesmen during repairs (plumbers, carpenters, welders, groundsmen and labourers)
·         We are an international nonprofit that works in Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania, Uganda, and Malawi. In these countries, our 5,000+ strong staff serves over 400,000 smallholder farmers and enables them to grow their way out of hunger and poverty.
Farmers First
·         Contribute to the development of maintenance budgets and ensure compliance
·         Monitor the purchase and inventory of materials and equipment
·         Participate in coordination of minor works projects
·         Ensure adherence to quality standards and health and safety regulations
·         Compile quarterly and annual reports on maintenance services
·         Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

·         Diploma in Electrical Installation Power Option or Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institution.
·         Three (3) years’ experience in general maintenance OR:
·         Craft Certificate i/ii in Electrical Installation Power Option or Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institution
·         And over Five (5) years’ experience in general maintenance.
Skills:
·         Knowledge of either building maintenance, OR mechanical and electrical maintenance
·         Experience of managing both in-house and contract staff
·         Superb written and oral communication skills, including excellent English and fluent Swahili
·         Ability to work independently and to collaborate with a wide range of teams
·         Attention to detail
·         IT literacy is essential, including familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel and email
·         Pro-active problem solver

Regional HR Associate

JOB LOCATION: Western
REPORTING TO: Regional HR Manager
We currently have an opening for the position of Regional Human Resources Associate at our Regional Offices in Western that we are inviting you to apply for. Below are the details for the position:

Roles

·         Regional personnel filling
·         Leaves and Disciplinary tracking and summaries
·         Drive Policy trainings and implementation within regional districts.
·         Attend all HR monthly trainings and meetings at KHQ
·         Maintain the Regional offices Staff information database.
·         Regularly make Site assignment updates in the roster
·         Management of staff reserve and staff replacements.
·         Support in coordinating activities/initiatives around Staff benefits:
·         You will have regular liaison communications with Line Managers on upcoming HR activities at districts level.
·         You will be first contact point for staff grievances and any needed appeals that may take place at the regional level.
·         Performance Appraisal process support
·         Support Line Managers with disciplinary according to the set HR policies
·         Hiring, On-boarding and Promotion process support:
·         Run Monthly Payroll submissions for all the regional districts and facilitate distribution of payslips.
·         Any other HR related assignments as requested by your supervisor.

Requirements

·         Minimum two years’ experience in HR Management is mandatory
·         Minimum of Diploma in HR Management or Business Management
·         Excellent computer skills with proficiency in excel and power point
·         Be willing to reside in Western or Nyanza provinces
·         Conversant with labour and employment laws
·         Discreet and able to handle confidential information of both staff and the organisation
·         Attention to details ,Strong work ethic and good numerical skills
·         Quick learner and team player
·         Excellent written and verbal communicator good organizational skills
·         A strong sense of ethics, honesty and integrity
·         Abel to work under tight deadlines with minimum supervision
