You are well experienced in guiding enterprise data management initiatives in key business areas and in operationalizing data governance and you possess expertise in creating and deploying best practices and methodologies and knowledge about managing and leading technical data analytics teams across multiple departments while keeping a strategic perspective.

About the role: Reporting to the Head – Data Strategy & Governance, the Data Governance Analyst will be responsible for administering data policies, standards and procedure, for managing and implementing the enterprise data blueprint, for protecting data assets and stakeholder interests, and for providing support that enables data governance across the enterprise. 

The role holder will also co-ordinate data stewardship and the governance organization towards setting policies, standards, architecture, and procedures, as well as resolving data related issues. 

The data organization includes data stewards, platform stewards, lead data stewards, and the Data Governance Council.

The Role

Specifically, the successful jobholder will be required to:
  • Drive the implementation and application of the enterprise data governance program.
  • Create and maintain data governance processes, rules, policies, standards and practices.
  • Coordinate and plan the Data Governance Sessions, meetings committees and councils
  • Work with the business units and corporate functions to establish effective data stewardship framework that work closely with the Data Governance Council.
  • Define and implement key data governance tools to support the processes.
  • Support strategic direction by drawing on information from multiple sources and using guidelines to analyze what information is important and how it should be used.
  • Communicate data governance initiatives and programs confidently in a clear, concise and articulate manner, selecting the most appropriate medium for conveying information, and structuring written and oral communication to ensure clarity.
  • Contribute content to internal collaborative content platforms to support engagement with data stakeholders.
  • Evangelize the concept of “data as an asset” and the value of understanding the quality of data.
  • Support the data management office and data stewards to ensure data assets comply with all governance policy, regulations, agreements, and business rules.
  • Contribute in the communications plan that keeps stakeholders updated on enterprise data governance.
Skills, Competencies and Experience
  • A degree in information management, organization governance, or related management fields is preferred. Possession of MBA will be an added advantage.
  • A minimum of three (3) year experience in data management, data analytics, or enterprise data governance. Experience with SQL strongly preferred.
  • Any database administration certification will be an added advantage.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of data governance and data quality and how they affect business decisions.
  • Ability to design and recommend governance structures and control frameworks for the ongoing management of data
  • Experience in guiding enterprise data management initiatives in key business areas and in operationalizing data governance.
  • Expertise in creating and deploying best practices and methodologies and knowledge about managing and technical data analytics teams across multiple departments.
  • Ability to synthesize and analyze diverse data and information, develop and recommend strategies
  • Ability to think creatively, highly driven and self-motivated

About the Role: The Employee Communications Officer role will drive the people agenda through consistency and quality in employee communications within the Bank. 

Reporting to the Director - Human Resources, the overall purpose of this role is to design and Implement an Integrated Human Resource Communication strategy for the Bank by producing communication materials to advance the People agenda.  

The role holder will be responsible for developing internal communications that reach a wide and diversified workforce to engage, inform and inspire our employees, including change programs that enable the successful rollout of our People Agenda strategy, Co-op Bank Culture, benefits initiatives, learning programs, wellness and operations.

About the Person: The role holder must be innovative and consultative with the capability to develop and implement creative communications strategies that drive the people agenda. You have the right drive and energy to move minds. 

Your command of language is excellent with impeccable presentation skills. You have an edge as far as the delivery of content to varied audiences is concerned. It is usually effortless for you to decipher complex concepts and make them clear, simple and understandable to others. 

You are well experienced with strong digital capabilities with a background in impactful digitally aligned employee communication.

Specifically, the successful jobholder will:
  • Be responsible for overall Human Resources communications strategy in consultation with Human Resources leadership team.
  • Work in a highly collaborative manner with the Marketing and Communications department to deliver Human Resources content in a manner that is aligned to the broader communication strategies and brand identity guidelines.
  • Expand range, depth, and effectiveness of content and messaging to elevate awareness and understanding of Human Resources policies, processes, tools, products and initiatives.
  • Be responsible for executing on the communication vehicles to support HR; resourcing branding strategies and Human Resources internal branding efforts.
  • Develop an employee-driven ideation process, inclusive of all employees, that ensures our culture is a product of our people’s ideas and needs.
  • Create visual concepts, using computer software or by hand, to communicate ideas that inspire, inform, and captivate our staff and stakeholders by developing the overall layout and production design for various communications
  • Serve as the lead writer/editor on all key Human Resources content and visualization of HR collateral for key HR-driven projects and initiatives.
  • Support Employer of Choice initiatives by designing and implementing robust communication strategies.
  • Supply Human Resources related content for the Co-op bank’s external website.
  • Manage the annual Human Resources communication calendar.
  • Work across projects with the larger HR team to ensure HR communication and engagement issues are identified and addressed.
  • Develop content, creatives for staff newsletters, communications, talent acquisition communication, articles and so on to further the People Agenda.
  • Act as the Liaison between the Human Resources Division and its stakeholders on all official communications.
Skills and Experience
  • A bachelor's degree in graphic design, communication or related area. A minimum of 5 years proven experience in designing and implementing internal communication strategies in a similar corporate environment or in an advertising agency. Experience with Human Resources communications would be a great addition.
  • A proven track record of successfully supporting and implementing employee engagement and internal communications using a range of tools (intranet, newsletter, e-communications, events) and channels including digital/social media
  • Strong digital capabilities with a background in building social media channels in an effort to build stronger online presence
  • Creativity, communication, and problem solving skills and familiarity with computer graphics and design software for effective visualization and development of creatives for different media
  • Excellent written and oral presentation skills and engaging writing style, including ability to put complex concepts into user-friendly material.
  • Proactive self-starter with all round communication skills with ability to introduce new and innovative internal communications practices
